We just had the most magical luxury experience - everything was just perfect from the moment we set foot on the property until the moment we left. James, Steve, Tristan and Lynette made sure our stay was extra special with a special treat almost everyday (sparkling wine for sunset during one of our drives, intimate dinner on our deck). The lodge's location overlooking the plain is fantastic, wildlife can be seen from its deck, the room is comfortable, beautifully decorated and very private. We went on twice daily safari drives with our amazingly knowledgeable guide and skilful tracker, they went above and beyond to look for the animals we were keen to see - we saw everything and more (leopard, wild dogs on a hunt, many elephants, etc...). We got spoilt with food - fine and tasty. Walkers Plains Camp didn't disappoints and we would love to come back.

We recently visited Walkers Plains camp and had an had an amazing experience. We were welcomed by all staff and made to feel at home. The rooms had a stunning view over the plains to the mountains where you could often spot game. The loge and rooms were immaculate and there was a great deal of attention to detail. The food was delicious and the chef was always around to discuss the menu. We went on twice daily game drives where the game viewing was outstanding. We saw lions on a kill, a leopard up a tree and wild dogs in one drive! I would recommend that you visit Walkers Plains camp and we will definitely be back.

Book it. Book it now. You will thank me. I promise.

love this place. My first visit was incredible - intended as a one off visit but they stole my heart and made me fall in love with it so I had no choice but to return.

I was concerned that it couldn’t possibly be as good as the first time but they smashed it out of the park once again.

The lodge is absolutely stunning. The location with the plains and the watering hole in front of the lodge is breathtaking. The rooms are the ultimate in luxury and the owners and the staff so warm and welcoming and make you feel like family.

The game viewing was once again spectacular and the drives always educational and fun. There is always something new to see and learn. Special shout out to Paul and Clarence for their guiding/tracking skills, for finding such incredible animals, making sure the views were perfect and of course pouring excellent gin and tonics for sundowners.

Not sure when the third visit will be but there will be one….

Walkers Plains Camp in the Timbavati Game reserve created the most amazing trip ever. This family run camp has incorporated the best of every other safari camp and created the most perfect lifetime memory.
I have never written reviews in my 67 years of world traveling but this life changing experiece compelled me to tell the world
This is our fourth safari camp in nine years and by far the best. We saw more Rhinos than ever and not de-horned, two prides of lions with cubs, leopard and even a cheetah.
The two a day game drives created memorable intimate, close up adventures every day. The vast array of animals was unbelievable and multiple encounters with each species allowed a multitude of photo ops.
The food was spectacular and the understated elegance of the camp allowed every convenience from private pools to outdoor showers and massive bedrooms with private ensuites. The Savannah view of the African bushveld from every room was spectacular and every meal was served watching the local watering hole with dozens of animals visiting during every meal.
The most special part was the knowledge the guides imparted during the wildlife encounters. I can't thank them enough.
Our party of nine all feel like the Walker family and amazing staff went above and beyond our expectations to welcome us to their family.

From hello to goodbye, the entire experience at Walkers was special and unforgettable! The hospitality is truly unmatched— they embrace you like family or an old friend from the moment you arrive and send you off with a lifetime of memories along with a full belly and a warm heart. The whole environment is clean, inviting, relaxing, and warm. The food is plentiful and the presentation impeccable— from cozy meals and afternoon tea at the lodge to sunrise and sunset drinks on safari.

The wildlife viewing is both intimate, exciting, and safe. You can enjoy some incredible viewing from the lodge or from the comfort and safety of your very own room, bed, and/or pool. You’re also in very good hands with the guides and their expertise on the twice daily game drives. They are passionate and incredibly skilled and knowledgeable at what they do— taking every consideration for the care of animals and guests, even curating the experience to meet your level of comfort and ultimately exceeded all expectations. Book your Time at Walkers Plains Camp and plan to be amazed!!

In the end, it broke my heart to leave, but reality called. The only thing I wish I’d done differently was stay longer, or plan my overall trip to end it with a stay at Walkers Plains Camp, because nothing that followed quite lived up to our time spent there! l cannot recommend this place highly enough— will be singing the praises of this luxury safari camp for years to come and plan to return again as soon as possible!

What a wonderful place! Walkers Planes Camp is quite new and you see it. All is modern and stylish, yet in a way also very cosy and homey. The view from the main deck (and all the private decks) over the plains and to the watering hole could hardly be bettered. We had one of two family units which was amazing with a second bedroom with its own shower bathroom and toilet - our 11 year old loved it.

The food was amazing. As always in South Africa there’s a lot of meat but the vegetarian options were also very tasty. The two dinners on the deck (we were there three nights) were gourmet experiences. And even the one boma dinner (a sort of barbecue dinner prepared over open fire and served in the round boma) was very tasty (such boma dinners are traditional and probably more enjoyed by first and second time safari goers). The breakfast menu changed every day, and the one day our daughter didn’t like anything on it, the kitchen made her something else. No lunch is served but you can easily ask for a small snack if feeling peckish. But one should always keep appetite for the amazing high tea, one day with, among other, sushi and cheese cake, another with pulled pork and lemon meringues etc.

The serving staff, managed by lovely Lynette, were service minded, kind and fun, a special shout out to Peace, Caroline and Xoli who really made us feel special. Also the cat was a welcoming presence.

We saw a lot of animals from the deck but also had very good game viewing on the game drives, carried out by the kind and helpful ranger Milly and the knowledgeable and smiling tracker Walter. We saw lions, leopard (with a cub), lots of elephants, rhinos, a buffalo, lots of hyenas (including little ones) and the highlight: the rare and beautiful Wild Dogs - and, of course, lots of plains animals.

Highly recommended.

Probably the best safari experience overall in our travels across Kenya, Tanzania and Botswana. I'd describe the camp as an intimate and personalized 8-room version of a Four Seasons Resort. Impeccable architected common areas and rooms, great decor, with common areas overlooking a waterhole that is lit up night. Eating dinner there watching elephants, rhinos, hyenas and impalas among others come to drink was an unforgettable experience.

The game drives themselves were outstanding. We had Roan, the head guide along with Zakele as our tracker. Roan's encyclopedic knowledge of the bush, and their ability to track led to excellent close up game viewing as we could go offroad right where the animals were. Among our highlights: a) Watching a lioness dig into a burrow to extract a warthog, chase it, and see her and another lioness feasting on the kill later. We sat there for over an hour in our vehicle. b) Ample rhino sightings close up. c) Four large male lions eating a giraffe that had died of natural causes with a group of hyenas and vultures watching. Etc etc.

James and Steve Walker and the rest of their team were wonderful hosts, making us feel at home for the 3 nights we stayed there.

Walkers was an amazing experience from the first minute to the last second. The lodge is personal, great facilities, calm and a world away from stresses of everyday life.

Paul and Phanuel took us on two game drives a day and made sure we saw lots everyday. Pauls knowledge is phenomenal. Blankets and hot water bottles kept us in luxury as well as the new safari jeeps in the early morning.

The meals were terrific with different choices every day. We had our own pool and outdoor shower from which we saw zebra elephants warthogs impala and wilder beasts!

We would definitely come again.

I had the most incredible time at this camp!

It was by far one of the nicest places I have ever stayed. The location and scenery are beautiful. The main dining/lounge area looks out onto a beautiful plain where animals routinely roam throughout the day. Each individual cabin is impeccably clean, well maintained, lush and relaxing. Private pools at each small cabin allow you to relax in solitude and view the wildlife and scenery throughout the day.

Incredibly warm welcome and the staff was great throughout. Caroline in particular was very warm and welcoming and just a joy to be around. Everyone always had a smile on their face, remembered all the guests names, remembered drink orders, inquired about what was seen on the safari rides that day, and made the stay incredibly personalized and enjoyable. Also appreciated the "guest employee", Judy, who I spent most of my 3 days with and who was such a fan of Walker's that she had returned 3x in the last year.

As a solo traveler, I appreciated the care and attentiveness put into both providing opportunities to socialize and engage with the staff, owners, and other guests, but also allowing me to have personal time to relax in solitude (even when I was sitting in common areas). Everyone who works there is absolutely excellent at hospitality.

The game rides were incredible. Paul (guide) and Phanuel (tracker) were both engaged, enthusiastic, knowledgeable with every question I asked, and also made all guests feel appreciated and welcomed. There is a true passion and excitement for the wildlife in the area (Paul gets downright gleeful when there is a sighting of wild dogs). On my last day (I was the only one on the vehicle who was leaving that day) they asked me specifically what I wanted for my last ride, and then followed through with finding an entire herd of elephants- the largest group that I had seen in my 6 full days of safari- a great send off!

I would absolutely love to return one day and cannot recommend enough. It is expensive but it definitely pulls through in terms of being an amazing experience!
