I have been with family in Mopaya last week and I must admit that I was miles away to imagine how much I'd be blown away.

I don't know where to start.

The team with Pauline, Iris, Camille, Zeze a d Zipo are so welcoming, funny and wonderful of knowledge about South Africa and its countless animals and their habits.

While being funny and knowledgeable they organise the safaris like no-one else finding all of them whilst respecting their environment.

In the evening you digest all the wonders you experienced with appetisers and wonderful diners and wines surrounded by so much laughters.

The housekeeping team is very efficient whole very discreet. You do not lack of anything in the Lodge.

The kitchen team, wahoo, all products are so fresh, well cooked and so tasteful. All of that with a great service and kindness.

All of these magical ingredients with a cherry on the cake.
Michel, the owner-general manager who lead by exemple. He takes part of all parts of the experience described with hands on.

You can see a great leader through his team. And their eyes are full of stars when laying on him. He never rests as always being part of the story. Leading safaris himself, having all meals and laughters with his guests always ensuring their 100% comfort.

And if that was not enough he puts all his heart in surprising all guests but I will not spoil any more.

Everyone should have a chance to experience Mopaya. It is a lifetime experience. Safari wise you will not find a better place to fulfill this dream.

Thank you would be far from what I feel.

See you soon.

You rock and do not change a thing.

Your Maurician/French family

Amazing view and wonderful animals to discover. The staff is incredible and the food is excellent. There is no disrespect over the animals and there are many things to do by days.

Just go there and see by yourself.

Mopaya is a haven of tranquility and relaxation. I have been in and around the Kruger a few times, but never experienced nature the way I did at Mopaya. Zebras freely roam the property, I learned about the legend of the White Lion of Timbavati, went on a boat cruise and for the first time, took the time to admire a sunset. It was magical!

Mopaya safari lodge is managed by very knowledgeable people who will make your stay a fantastic experience in the bush. It is authentic, comfortable, great food, lovely staff and an "out of Africa" atmosphere... and Michel and Oscar's safaris are unique. They will go out of their way to take you to the animals, even if sometimes, they are just lying under your tents (just talking about the lions...). Their knowledge of the bush, wildlife and vegetation, is an absolute added value. All the guides and staff are extremely friendly, helpful and will make your stay a truly unforgettable experience. Make no mistake, if you want the real wildlife and the goosebumps, this is the place to go !

My wife and I spent 8 days at Mopaya Safari Lodge and were overwhelmed by Michel's hospitality and knowledge of the African bush and wildlife.

The variety of activities kept us involved and we saw the Big Five and many of the smaller animals in a variety of habitats. We seemed to spend a lot more time in the bush and on game drives than we had at other lodges we visited previously.

A great plus was not having to pack up and move every few days. The laundry service was a blessing and meant we could travel light.

The meals were mostly traditional and were well prepared. Dinner around the fire was a great way to end each day.

The boat trip along the banks of the Olifants River overlooking the Greater Kruger Park was a highlight and a great way to end our safari.

Learning about the wildlife conservation projects Mopaya Safari Lodge supports and seeing the results of the work they do to protect Cheetahs and White Lions was a life changing experience.

Spending a week with fellow guests on safari was fun and we made many new friends.

I can confidently recommend going on an African Safari the Mopaya Way.

We spent four nights at the lodge with an unforgettable welcome from Michel, Constance Lauren Zizi and the whole team.
Through their knowledge, passion and professionalism, they made us discover and appreciate this animal world which was unknown to us in all its diversity.
The lodge is superb, the cooks are great.
Full of attention and dedication in the safaris (coffee, cookies, etc.) and even champagne.
A big thank you to all of you and good luck.

Our week-long stay at Mopaya Safari Lodge was enchanting.
The founders Michel and Oscar are caring, warm and inexhaustible about animals and their environment.
They are passionate and do not count the hours of safari to the delight of night owl guests (night safari if applicable).
We liked the diversity of activities offered (boat safari, on foot, in Land Rover) which allowed us to admire as many animal and plant species as possible; as well as the cozy lodge located on a hill with breathtaking views of the bush.
The cuisine is excellent, note that the chefs were trained by great French chefs.
Michel, Oscar and more generally the Mopaya family (guides, chefs...) have some nice surprises in store such as a bushcamp, proximity to certain animals and piano aperitifs :)

We congratulate their commitment to the protection of the environment and animals (contribution to the dehorning of rhinos to avoid poaching, transformation of a hunting reserve into an ecotourism reserve, etc.)

We recommend this trip to Mopaya and the bush because “wonder constitutes the first step towards respect”.

We had a wonderful stay at Mopaya Safari Lodge.
We stayed there 8 days and 7 nights for our honeymoon and the whole team was perfect.
We were received with cocktails and direct departure for the first safari.
The team is made up of wonderful and passionate people who brought tears to our eyes as we left.
Safaris are generally constituted on the basis of 2 per day and unlimited in time since the guides do their best to amaze us with the wild fauna.
A real vacation where we did absolutely nothing except eat (yes, we eat very well there!), sleep, and marvel during the safaris.
We can only say thank you to Michel who did EVERYTHING to allow us to bring together the Big 5. A true enthusiast who has lots of stories and anecdotes to tell during meals.
Special mention also to the interns Lorène and Clémence, without whom this stay would not have been the same.
The whole team introduced us to this magnificent region, these welcoming people who care about our well-being. We fell in love with this country! And we are already looking forward to leaving again to discover new landscapes.
Coming back from vacation was very hard and Mopaya set the bar very high.
Thank you very much and maybe see you soon!
Or for a great adventure in Botswana with Oscar! 😉🫶

DREAMS OF AFRICA
The MOPAYA SAFARI LODGE is a pretty Lodge nestled in the heart of nature, in the middle of the large Balule reserve. It is very picturesque and full of charm. The rooms are tents in which you stand up with furniture, fridge, bedside tables and lamps, mosquito nets and random electricity, compensated by very functional solar lamps. The sanitary facilities, under a thatched roof, bath, sink, toilet and shower, are very comfortable. In the evening we fall asleep to the sounds of the bush, the croaking of frogs, the crunching of insects and, in the distance, often, the roar of big cats. The welcome is excellent, very friendly, you feel like family, among friends, everyone is looking after you to please you throughout your stay. The food is excellent, many snacks with fresh cookies and muffins, club sandwiches and croques monsieur. A big brunch around 11 a.m., a real meal in itself, I'll let you discover the menu you will never be disappointed, just maybe when you try to put on, after a stay of a few days, your winter outfit to return home. Europe!!!
In the evening, by the light of kerosene lamps and the sound of soft jazz music, the cooks announce the always excellent dinner, tender beef fillet with top fries, chicken in all its forms, several typically African dishes served in the boma around a wood fire, under the stars. The safaris are of quality, long and rich enough to never come back frustrated, and in the evening around an “elephant walk” succulent desserts composed of coffee, vanilla ice cream, chocolate and especially Amarula liqueur we exchange memories. , the experiences, the emotions of this wild Africa which rocked our childhood dreams and which becomes reality at Mopaya Safari Lodge. Our host tells us about the program for the next day and listening to him describe what perhaps awaits us...we say to ourselves that it will be even more wonderful tomorrow than today. Another big thank you to the whole team; Michel, Zeze, Kenett, Augustin Clémence, Enzo, Blandie and all the nice ladies in the kitchens and rooms who helped make our stay a delicious parenthesis of life. A Lodge immersed in greenery, the horizon as far as the eye can see, an enormous elephant blocks the path leading to reception because it feasts on the fruits of the Amarula which is right at the entrance. Here it is the man who waits for the animal, with a nonchalant step, to move away in order to continue its journey to reach the reception of the Lodge. It’s magical, we’re suddenly transported into the middle of a jungle book. A flight of steps leads to the very cozy lounge bar, the dining room and the swimming pool terrace with views over the bush to infinity. An out-of-Africa atmosphere guaranteed, in the evening, lit by kerosene lamps, the large friendly table awaits guests amazed by the two very long safaris of the day, which, for that of the afternoon, ended at the light of the projectors to discover the nocturnal fauna which is very present at nightfall. We are in the Balulé reserve, the animals, although protected by tall grass and green bushes at this time of year, are omnipresent and with patience we can catch the eye of several lions going hunting or a troop of elephants, who, to go down to the edge of the river, gently bypass our vehicle which was in their path. The silence is total in the car, we only hear their heavy, muffled footsteps, the friction of their rough skin, the little ones hurry to stay under the protection of their mothers and more broadly of the entire herd around them. A moment out of time that will stay in our memories for a long time. Giraffes, zebras, impalas (the little ones are two months old and are grouped in a nursery). Birds fly away, squirrels, hares and mongooses run along the edge of the track. Images of terrestrial paradise embellished by the stories of Africa from our host who remains the most amazed of all, when in the deep night, rises the cry of the lion, the laughter of the hyena or the yap of the jackal. M.A.D.
