8 of us stayed together here in early October, what a find! The hosts Erica and Luca were attentive, fun and very personable. We felt like family. And they clearly came from a restaurant background. The food was very plentiful and delicious. The lodge has its own watering hole for wild animals and while we were there we saw monkeys, mongoose, impala and giraffes right around the house. Apparently a herd of elephants came through while we were out on safari. It is near Kruger and in its own private reserve that abuts the national park. We saw wild dogs, lions, elephants, giraffes, cape buffalo and many kinds of birds. The lodge itself is amazing. Rooms very private. The infinity pool is wonderful, even if you are not a pool person. Relaxing after a morning or day spent on safari is well worth it. My wife and I stayed in the honeymoon suite, a separate building with 3 walls of glass, very romantic. There is a 40 minute or so drive through the private park to get to the lodge - slow going as there are lots of speed bumps on the way to protect the animals.

Dear Erika and Luca, Gert and I want to thank you both for the wonderful hospitality! We had such a memorable time with you both. Our "honeymoon suite" was so lovely. Your attention to detail and your fabulous meals were so great. You and your staff are so warm and caring! It was great to have all our plans become reality. You took all the hassle off our plates by handling all the excursions. All we had to do was enjoy! Your love for each other and for your chosen life comes through every day. We learned so much about your corner of the world and feel like we arrived as strangers but left as family. 5 stars just does not cover it! We feel so fortunate to have found Elephant Game Lodge and you two. Grazie - miss you already, Kathy

We had such a wonderful stay at the lodge. The place is simply stunning. Erika and Luca are fantastic hosts that make you immediately comfortable and feeling at home. And once they move in the kitchen they only reappear with succulent dishes (of course, of italian flavor).

We had a fabulous stay here. The rooms are large and the beds comfortable and have A/C which was very welcome in the summer heat. The views are incredible and with a good pair of binoculars you can often see giraffe in the hills. The deck overlooks the water hole and In just the few days we stayed we saw an elephant visit, impala, baboons and 4 lions . Monkeys visit during the day and you can feed them carrots and apples . The pool is great after a hot safari . The lodge organizes local game drives in the balule reserve (where the lodge is located ) and we had Rob from the nearby lodge - he was so good ! He really knew his stuff and was passionate about the Flora and Fauna and even took us down to the river to see 7 hippos. As well as the local reserve it’s well situated for Kruger , an hour to the nearest gate and you can do a full day or a shorter loop ( good for kids ) which gets you back at about 3pm. And - last but not least- Erika and Luca . What wonderful and gracious hosts, always ready to help and just fun people to talk to . They both have a long history in the restaurant business and it shows - the food was incredibly tasty ( some Italian, some African ) and they were so kind to accommodate my vegetarian diet. They were very flexible with meal times and cooked amazing breakfasts. Thank you so much guys , it was an unforgettable experience ❤️

I stayed at the Elephant Game Lodge for roughly one week with seven of my friends. I originally found the house on VRBO and then was put in touch with Erika & Luca (the hosts). I am very grateful for Erika who I spent months going back and forth with about our itinerary. She was able to book all of our safari excursions and put together a menu that we would enjoy during our stay. The villa itself is in a private reserve and very convenient to Hoedspruit, the airport, Kruger, Blyde Canyon, and other private reserves. We rented cars and drove ourselves and didn't have any problems getting around. The house is pretty incredible -- we loved being out on the back deck. Everything was clean and comfortable -- we didn't have any complaints about the accommodation. As I mentioned, Erika was very involved with us throughout the planning process and the service continued when we were there. Luca, Eriika, and their staff were very attentive to us as their guests - cooking, cleaning, doing our laundry and giving us great travel tips! We LOVED all of the game drives and all of our tour guides! We saw so many animals! Lions, elephants, giraffes, zebras, cheetahs, rhinos, crocodiles, hippos, and many more! For me, when looking into South Africa, I didn't want to camp or stay in huts in the Kruger, but I also couldn't afford a luxury lodge. Elephant Game Lodge was an amazing value and I would highly recommend the Elephant Game Lodge to larger families or groups of friends looking for safari in South Africa that is very nice but a bit more affordable! Thank you, Erika and Luca!

The Elephant Game Lodge is one of a kind. It is a beautiful secluded and luxurious lodge in the middle of the Balule Nature Reserve. Erica and Luca who run the lodge are the ultimate hosts. Warm, welcoming and incredibly knowledgeable they thought of our every need. From their fantastic cooking (every meal was absolutely delicious!), to their detailed knowledge and experience of the Bush and really lovely hospitality we had an unforgettable stay. Big compliments also to the staff who support them who were really lovely too. We did a short Safari in Balule itself, and although it is not as rich with animals as the Kruger national Park, it was still fascinating. Kruger itself is not that far away and we did set off for a day's safari in Kruger from the lodge. The lodge also has a watering hole right beside it so it is not uncommon to see elephants and other animals drinking at the hole. Luca always made sure to point out the animals to our daughters whenever they came by. We saw a herd of Impalas drinking from the hole. At night if you sit on the deck high above the bush you can hear the lions roar. When we weren't eating or out on safari we spent time by the pool. All of us (myself (Talya), my husband (Lewie) and two daughters) had such a wonderful stay we are thinking about how we can return!
