We stayed here while on a biking trip in the South Island. It was two level accomodation adjacent and below a main road. Walking distance to green areas and supermarket. The unit was clean but had an unusual layout in the bathroom and second bedroom which wasn't ideal. There was no sound proofing between floors where we had kids running around upstairs late into the night and workers using this as a base coming and going. It was not restful with additional traffic noise. Wife was not happy with the amount of light from outside lights reflecting onto the ceiling from the top of the curtains. The manager/owner was very pleasant and helpful and we were able to park safely with our bikes. Location was ideal for us although entry was via a side street. Would be stay again. Probably not.

Stayed for one night. Room was lovely and clean and very spacious. Angela was very welcoming. Room has everything you need for an extended stay. Close to restaurants and town attractions. Free parking is a bonus. Would definitely recommend and stay again.

Stayed on a number off occasions in 2014 for work .rooms we're clean well maintained. And the hosts couldn't do enough for me to the point of doing my washing for me while doing long hours at the work. Even put my warm beers in the fridge for me. Kiwi hospitality at its best. Free wi fi was magic other places in Timaru could learn a lot from Chris and co. If your looking for some where to stay in Timaru don't go past the Ashbury.

over the last 4 months stayed at 2 other motels and an apartment in Timaru . None of them come close to the Asbury Park, I've told my HR team reluctant to stay elsewhere. No wonder the no vacancy sign is always out. Thanks again Frank

We were a 60 year old couple staying in Timaru to visit elderly relatives and friends. We stayed in a one bedroom apartment nr 9. We found the space, quality and helpfullness of the owners excellent. Although on route 1, nr 9 was quiet wih good views. We had a small outside seating area with its own table and chairs. We had more than enough room to be able to invite 3 friends around for tea and seated them all in comfortable chairs. We would definitely return if we could have an equivalent room next time.

Room Tip: Rooms 7 8 and 9 are furthest from the road. The wing leading to these would also probably be quiet.

Stay here regularly, Frank and Ange are always improving the place. The noise reduction glass recently installed must have reduced the road noise by at least 50%.
If I'm running late I'll call key in the room, heater put on when required.
As I have reviewed this place several times before there is not much more I can say. Love it

Not a 4 star motel. Security issues with loud, aggressive and drunk guests who drank outside our door. We felt very unsafe staying there despite it being recommended through QANTAS hotels. QANTAS hotels offered a refund but all we wanted was safety and a quite night. Be careful, fellow travellers. It was a very disappointing experience when arriving from Australia.

Response from ashburypm, Owner at Ashbury Park Motel
Responded 10 Mar 2016
There were no loud and aggressive drunk guest during your stay, we had 3 company representative who had been staying over the last 12 days and they were just having a drink after work and were not aggressive or drunk in any manner. It was 7.30 pm and they had just arrived back from work it was 28 degrees and they were having a drink outside their unit which was next door to you. I (the owner) was talking to the workers upstairs and they were always respectful and polite these gentleman have stayed with us for 3 weeks and we never had a complaint about them. When you left you said that they were "noisy" I offered to moved them to the BBQ area. At no stage was "aggressive or drunk" ever used until these comments and these comments are very untrue. Our guests have always and always will be safe and secure (we the owners are on-site 24/7) and we are very offended by your untrue statement.

Although our stay at Ashbury Park was only a one night stopover, the hospitality shown by the owners makes me want to go back to NZ! It was the only place in NZ where we got help with our luggage PLUS the owner wiped the back window of our car on the cold morning when we checked out! We had a self catering unit with one bed in the lounge area and two singles in the bedroom; the bathroom is off the bedroom. The unit was immaculate; excellent kitchen facilities and the softest, fluffiest towels I've seen in any accommodation. A bonus was the large park/sports ground for my early morning walk. These owners deserve to do well! And if you don't want to cook, try Little India restaurant at Timaru for a well priced excellent meal.

We were greeted warmly at reception and found our room spacious and clean. We were given good local knowledge and it was the perfect place for an over night stay. We had a two bedroom unit with a queen in the main room which also featured a good sized small fridge and microwave, lounge and table. The second room has twin beds and leads to the bathroom.
