Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We booked online a std queen sized studio first thing in the morning of our stay which was in between Xmas and new year. We'd been on the road since getting off the Picton ferry at 4.30am. Our accomm plans had changed and were arriving in Timaru earlier than the standard check in time of 2pm. I called and left a message, the owner called me back soon afterwards and assured me they would try to cater for an early check in even though they were busy turning around all the rooms. When we arrived nothing was a problem and our host wa super friendly and welcoming. We were exhausted from car travel and able to have a good nap before going out later. Our studio unit was very clean, tidy, spacious and quiet. The large bed was super comfy and there was a separate kitchette. There was also a separate single bed and two armchairs in the room. Wifi is supplied. I would recommend Cedar Lodge!

This Motel was very quiet,a little out of the main shopping area of Timaru, but thats what appealed to us,it has all been up dated to a high standard .the rooms very clean and beds very comfortable, the lazy boys in the lounge were a lovely sight after sitting in a car all day.

Friends & I, including young children, were stuck in Timaru for a couple of days during the recent roads closures. Pam & staff went the extra mile to make sure we were happy & comfortable. New Zealand hospitality at its finest. Thank you again.

We were travelling back to Christchurch and we we became stranded due to flooding as there was no alternate route. We were unexpectedly stranded with 6 adults and 2 small children. Pam, Brett and staff went out of their way to make us feel welcome and alleviate any stress we were feeling. They juggled rooms around so we all had somewhere to sleep and even offered their own home if a room could not have been found for my family! We are so grateful for their kind hospitality, thank you from the bottom of our hearts, we will not forget you guys!

In Timaru for a family birthday and Cedar Lodge had been recommended. We were lucky enough to stay in room #1 which has been very recently renovated. Couldn’t fault the powerful new shower or brand new Sleepyhead bed. Superb! We booked 3 rooms and all 3 were spotlessly clean. Call the Motel directly for the best rate. Thank you to Lauren and Melissa for looking after us. I ordered a continental breakfast as knew I’d be ‘peckish’ on the Sunday morning. Exactly what I needed! What lovely presentation. I should have taken more photos for this review. These ladies clearly take pride in their product as do their team. Thank you from the ‘Third Musketeer’.

Stayed on first floor in one bedroom unit in a modern block. Despite it being summer it was a freezing cold day so appreciated having the heat pump on. Everything was new and very clean with comfortable bed.

The place was comfortable and quiet. The bed was very comfortable and there was plenty of room to move about. The woman in the office was most pleasant and helpful. The motel could do with a bit of a revamp but I'd stay there again.

2 nights here and we slept so well. Quiet and 3 minutes drive away from the centre of Timaru and choice of supermarkets. Happy we chose this as many of the motels are on main roads with a lot of trucks and traffic noise, day and night. We chose one of the older rather than refurbished units and found it brilliant and homely. Very hot weather but these units were cool with windows front and back so the breeze could blow through. Very clean. Very Comfortable and definitely recommended.
