Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Beautiful Motel to stay at. Spacious rooms, well appointed, modern, clean and tidy rooms as one would expect. A short stroll up town to all the supporting shops and eateries. Gorgeous park straight across the road

Spacious room with a lovely view of the sea. Downside was the bathroom. Shower so weak we didn't feel that clean and every time we switched the light on an extremely noisy extractor fan started up! Also a surcharge if you don't do your dishes. Otherwise very adequate for the price. Good sky selection of channels.

It's just out of town but a 2minute drive to Little India and a good pub for evening food. Little bit complex to find as have to turn off and go round the back to get in if coming from CHCH. My room faced back. All as you would want, clean, everything worked, comfortable bed and good shower. Might try somewhere else as there is road noise but I arrived late - so noise in the morning with trucks on the road but not too loud. I had a warm welcome.

After seeing all the blurb about noisy motels in Timaru we were a bit gun shy of staying in the town. We stayed here and really there is highway noise from trucks between 5 -6.30 pm but then even they have to rest! Our room was fine with opening windows facing the main road but because the highway is set back a fair way it was not a problem at all really. We had a good night sleep in a very comfortable room with a great bed and good shower. The welcome was terrific and we would have no problem staying here again.

New, clean and great location but we heard a lot of road noise despite double glazing. The heater didn't work and the manager was grumpy about supplying another heater which didn't work well either! The shower rose was ineffective and the spa bath was lovely but the jets were so noisy we didn't use them. You have to do your own dishes and a load of washing, that you do yourself, costs $10! I won't be rushing back to stay here.

Called to ask what time check in closed. Pointed out I was likely to be there at that time but may have been later due to driving fatigued and having to stop to rest. I was told i would be sleeping in my car if I was later than 9 and no alternative was offered. Not impressed.

Arrived late and left early. Very surprised as to how good this place was. Very roomy Studio. Good bed. Good shower. TV channels were great. The kitchen could be better equipped but it was very adequate. Clean warm and comfortable. Definitely worth a repeat stay. Also very close to bay hill for a meal and beverage.

I stay in a lot of motels over the course of a year. I do agree with all of the comments here, smells, service (lack of) , shower pressure, basic equipment. The location is close to the city and to Caroline Bay, but so is every other motel in Timaru. Surely that's one reason to be on top of your game and do more than any others do. Sadly it is the managers that more than anything let the place down, as in itself it is adequate for a few nights stay. (And don't expect to use the internet for anything other than checking a few emails , "that's not what we provide it for" Note to managers, it's 2019!

Well, yes it has been recently refurbished, but at a very basic level. It’s clean enough, but there’s a rather peculiar smell on the stairways which permeates the room. Despite it saying no pets, there was a pet drinking bowl under the table. The reception was appalling - very grumpy man who could barely be bothered to direct us to our room, there was no welcome or

Booked six months in advance and was guaranteed a park for a trailer and car. Arrived to check in was greeted rudely and called derogatory terms when I asked where to park (being a hound female he spoke down on me and didn’t think I’d notice what he was doing). Room was average however manager was awfully rude and said “stay or go” had to request refund and then he was hesitant to give proof of refund receipt when requested. Very disgusted how we were treated. We were at the motel for a total of half an hour and would advise others to go else where if you are after a pleasant stay. Manager definitely needs a course on how to greet guests and gain service to run a successful business as he said he had many cancellations today obviously people finding out how obnoxious he is.
