Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The lady was very helpful and friendly the room was very clean and we booked for one night and stayed for two and would go back for sure .the motel has the bonus of being pet friendly and the dog loved it not having to sleep in the car.

I was also towing a large trailer and she made it easy for me letting me take up a few parking's in front of the unit.

This motor lodge is so good we were very sad to leave. As it was we stayed an extra night as we enjoyed it so much. We had a two bedroom fully self contained suite at a very reasonable rate. The staff were delightful and we had a very fond farewell from them on the morning we left. Very comfortable suite and close to town. Would definitely stay there again.

My partner drove me to Ashburton for my birthday and because we were tired and he wasn't feeling too well we decided to stay somewhere.
I'm glad I chose the Commodore. Chris the owner is a beautiful person and was so helpful and accommodating, so much so we decided to stay another night 💜
May you enjoy your time at the Commodore like we did 🥰

I could not appreciate this place enough 😍
Our host Chris was more than accommodating and really went the extra mile, even turning on heaters for us when we were due back late.
The room itself was clean and tidy.
grounds were well maintained and the location was great.

Chris and her team, really deserve there own award, they are down to earth genuine people, this country certainly needs more of them.
We will definitely be back, in the meantime I wish these lovely ladies all the best and suggest anyone who wants to experience genuine effort, this is a must stop for a great stay!

Only stayed one night thank goodness after a long drive in a one bedroom unit{12} but didn't expect especially these days to have to sleep in such soft beds as they were very uncomfortable to sleep on!
Everything else about our room was mainly fine so it was a real shame about the beds.

Passing through from Oamaru. As we light sleepers wanted to be away from main drag. Very reasonably priced Motel and friendly owner. Older motel but nice and quiet being one street back from the main road. Recommend if you want a good night's sleep in a clean room at a reasonable price. Also do try the Formosa Chinese restaurant. Top quality place.

we had not booked, and i think this was the last room in town, so we guessed what it would be like. Owner was pleasant and reasonably helpful.

however, the room was O.K, quite large, and with all necessary facilities, including fridge and kitchenette.....and clean.....and not too noisy from road at front nor trains behind.

my only real complaint was wiFi did not work. When i mentioned this, the owner said "oh yes, it doesn.t seem to work with Apple i-pads!!" I suggest a technician could/should fix that easily!

there seems a whole row of similar motels all along East Street. This one was perfectly fine, although a little pricey for the quality of the property (but being the last room in town what do you expect !)
