Set in the shelter of centennial trees, Hemsworth Estate is an Edwardian Villa that offers its guests a unique and welcoming experience. Home to New Zealand's first Hampshire Sheep Stud, it has been lovingly restored with luxury accommodation, romantic gardens and the ability to step back in time. In its seclusion, you’ll experience the distinct feeling of time slipping away as you explore the estate. Hemsworth combines the nostalgia of the past with the modern comforts of the present - the very best of both worlds. Hemsworth Estate offers the following: High Tea A decadent experience for the taste buds filled with nostalgic tradition and quality finishings. High Tea at Hemsworth Estate is a grand moment seeped in tradition. The linen is freshly pressed, the scones backed, and a variety of scrupulously tasted and tested delectables adorn the tiers. Each table is set with the finest silver and china, and the charm of fresh tea, an free afternoon, and a specially chosen companion makes this event into a feast. Bed and Breakfast From the moment of arrival, Hemsworth Estate opens its doors wide and spares no expense in welcoming its guests. Our rooms are prepared freshly, with a welcome basket on the dresser, a warm welcome and check in before gets all the necessaries out of the way. A tour provides context to the wonders of Hemsworth Estate, and we know there's nothing like a fresh pear or glass of wine on the verandah to set the tone. After a blissfully quiet night's sleep, a sumptuous breakfast is laid out, and we say goodbye like old friends. Weddings and Private Events A wedding at Hemsworth Estate is full of little, intimate moments. From start to finish, the planning process has been detailed and personal, the plan of the day well-thought and prepared, and the celebration itself relaxed and exuberant.

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Loved our stay. Glorious setting and the bed was so comfortable it was hard to get up out of it but the thought of breakfast made it a bit easier. The breakfast was well worth leaving our quiet comfortable room. We were spoilt and made to feel special. Highly recommended.

Beautiful historic country house from 1911 in a lush flower garden.
Beautiful luxurious rooms full of antique furniture and family memories.
Warm and enthusiastic welcome by Rebecca. She also provided a delicious dinner with local products and a good glass of wine. And all at a fair price. In short, an absolute must!!!

Underbara Margie tog väl hand om oss och vi kände oss som hemma direkt. Rent o fint, och dessutom sköna sängar som är ett stort plus för mig.
Miljön är verkligen unik och avslappnade.
Rekommendera alla ett besök!

We stayed a Saturday night at Hemsworth Estate to get away from everything. The house is an old family homestead and is filled with period features and ornaments. It bought back memories of staying with grandparents as young children. On arrival we enjoyed a hot drink sitting in the lounge in the sunny window seat. Then the host organised a platter for us which we enjoyed with lovely NZ wines in front of the fire. The bedroom has a well appointed ensuite. The room was warm and the bed so comfortable. Breakfast included cereal, fresh fruit and yoghurt as well as the european breads, meats and cheeses (and hot danish pastries). We had a lovely relaxing time with lots of great conversation with Margie the Host. The grounds are extensive and it would be a beautiful spot for a wedding reception. We note that they also do high teas on request. Would recommend Hemsworth Estate for a romantic getaway.
