Well worn and showing it’s age but spotlessly clean and very well equipped. Great comfortable bed, plenty of towels and as a bonus a heap of coffee and chocolate sachets in the kitchen. Usually stay up the road but from now on I’ll stick with Edgewater.
I will give 2/5 because the owner is so friendly and helpful, and the motel units are clean. However, to me a motel is rated most on the bed, then the shower, and when it comes to the bed, Edgewater missed by a very long way - utterly uncomfortable and lumpy pillows didn't help. The shower was great, though, even if the extractor fan didn't work and the mirror is not heated. Overall, the units look like they haven't seen any maintenance for many years with tired paint, peeling wallpaper (who puts wallpaper in a bathroom??) and lifting carpet joins. And squeaky floors. As far as location goes, 11/10 - just a few minutes' walk into town, right on the beach, and with the motorway now bypassing Orewa, very quiet. In short, this motel has potential by the bucket load, but it needs some money spent on it.…
Stayed for three nights and place was clean even though a bit dated. Lack of detail to rooms like shower soap holder loose and taps in basin cracked. A coat of paint would also help. Needs a good revamp. On a good note it is very central with a short walk to restaurants and beach close by. Staff also very friendly Would stay again. Thank you
Booked in for one night ended up staying three. Lovely one bedroom studio on first floor facing the sea and beach. Fabulous location and view. Great to sit outside the room, people watch, chat and watch the dog walkers. Room had a very well equipped kitchen with everything you need. Nice en suite. Very comfortable bed. Very clean and room made up daily by staff. Flexible, friendly and helpful hosts. Close to town centre with plenty of choice of restaurants, shops and bars. Two supermarkets in town. Only thing I would mention is room would benefit from an iron and ironing board for those enjoying a longer stay. Hairdryer available at reception.
Next to the beach and an easy walk to the town's bars and restaurants. Accommodation clean and comfortable but dated. Pricey for what you seem to get but in fairness the whole of Orewa seems a trifle expensive.
