Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Very quiet, peaceful property, and very private. Our room was totally self contained, nicely re-furbished with double glazing on windows and a pull down fly screen. The bed was very comfortable, table & chairs for eating, the room is compact, small bathroom but adequate. There is a large ceiling fan which was great for keeping the room cool. Breakfast was very good, selection of cereals, toast bread and jams etc. Good coffee, bottled water, fruit juices and a lovely bowl of fresh fruit. It is about 3 blocks from the beach and shopping area.

We chose this place for price and proximity to Whangaparaoa. We were met on arrival by a young man who appeared to be representing our host, but, after that initial meeting, we didn't see him again. And we never met our host. This made it difficult to address two problems: the bed and the TV. The bed had one cover which was too hot for February and without it, the sheet was not warm enough. There was no alternative bedding in the room, so we tried using our towels as blankets. The television did not work. It displayed a message that the aerial was not connected. There was a faulty plug at the back of the television and a “spare” cable tangled up behind the cabinet. We decided it best to leave it alone. If the bed had been warm and if we'd been able to watch a programme or two we would most likely have been perfectly happy there. We do appreciate our privacy, but we also appreciate a host who asks us if everything is alright and if we have any questions.

Quietly located in a residential street a self contained room and shower room, comfortable bed and provisions to make a breakfast. Everything we needed for our brief stay in Orewa was provided by the friendly owner.

This owner has thought of everything! Every little thing you could possibly need was supplied free of charge, right down to mouthwash and lollies! There was a 50 inch flatscreen tv, comfortable clean and warm bed, all the things you could want for breakfast both savoury and sweet. A microwave, kettle and toaster, hairdrier, the list goes on. One of my favourite things ( which will seem silly to some, but not to those who travel a lot like me) is that there was excellent toilet paper! Excellent free wifi. A nice flat walk to the local shops and beach, or bustop just around the corner. Highly recommend if you like the bnb scene.

After flying in to Auckland from the UK we needed to make our way up to the Bay of Islands and stopped in here for 1 night.

This is a family run bed and breakfast & we were greeted by Rio who was an absolute delight and very kind to our two small children. The room we booked had two double beds which were super comfy, an en-suite & little kitchen.

Breakfast was provided in the room before arrival and was way more than we could’ve expected. Cute little touches like a fruit bowl, also jars with sweets & biscuits. WiFi code provided and even the bathroom was equipped with shampoo, conditioner, body wash & toothpaste.

Absolutely just what we needed after a long flight. Thanks so much and would highly recommend.
