We were here for a week and the cost was reasonable and open to some negotiation. The unit comprised an open plan lounge/kitchen area, shower room, small hallway, and bedroom. It was small overall but the real problem was that so much stuff (furniture and appliances) had been put in there that you could barely move around. Indeed the bedroom cupboards were unusable as they were full of stuff. On arrival too there were housekeeping problems (missing light-bulbs and clock batteries) and when the bathroom light was turned on the whole lot fused. In fairness the owner/manager was down (from their other property just along the road) promptly and sorted it all out but nevertheless it wasn't a good start. It was quiet and clean but more attention to detail and a good clear-out are needed.

We stayed in the largest apartment, 2 rooms. Looked great in the photos but upon arrival we noticed that so much extra furniture had been added to the apartment and it was hard to move in there! We noticed that none of the glasses, cutlery etc in the kitchen matched so we were short for the amount of people staying as well. While it was beautifully decorated the apartment was too cluttered and made our stay very uncomfortable. The shower in the "hall" was also very unusual, meaning that we could not access the toilet or second bedroom while someone was in there! We feel that this apartment would be fine for 3 people but we do not recommend it for more people.

Facilities awkward and unit very cramped. Décor resembled opshop or garage sale. Only net curtains on windows. No soap. Wardrobe inaccessible. Advertised with satellite tv - understood that meant Sky, but no! The only chairs were tiny ones at a table. Had to sit on the bed.

Woman who answers the bell very keen to help and pleasant, but never in the office.

Was in a good place close to shops and restaurants. The beach was across the street. The decor was a little out dated but very clean. Was a little cold, with parking off the road. Good value for money.

When we arrived we had to ring a doorbell there was no reception that you would enter. We were greeted by a young man very laid back perhaps a little too laid back considering this is a business, he handed us a key. There were two of us (singles) so I was shocked to see how tiny the room was with only 1 bed. These were not the pictures that I saw on the website. The website pictures were of an upstairs bigger dwelling with a deck, which is totally not the case as these apartments have been sold & are no longer available to book.
Luckily I could upgrade for an extra $10 to a 1 bedroom unit downstairs.
Whilst this unit was adequate for a nights stay there were a few things that did need attention to detail, the unit had a musty smell throughout despite all the windows being open. The unit was full of bugs, namely quite a few flies, a big black hairy spider in the bathroom, moths and creepy crawlies. In fact there were a lot more bugs in this unit than what I had in my bungalows right on the beach that I had in Rarotonga and Aitutaki in November last year!
The interesting thing to note was that upon seeing all the bugs we went out and bought fly spray from countdown then discovered the 2 people in the other unit had gone and done exactly the same thing we did. There was a light switch in the bedroom above the bed barely hanging there the wires were exposed & there was a dark brown almost black spill in the freezer not cleaned up. Cobwebs behind the bed which my hand found when I needed to plug in the lamp. The mirror in the lounge had greasy little fingerprints on it & the shower controls were the total opposite of what the dial stated.
Our dining table that we had was best suited outside since it was an outside dining table white with four white chairs.
On the positive side this place was quiet, walking distance to a side street which lead to the beach, the bed was comfy and it had a really nice duvet cover on it which I never used as the unit was very hot inside. The place has been tastefully decorated with nice pieces of furniture the shower had reasonably good pressure and we had more than enough wifi for our purposes.
As a way of attracting more business, repeat customers and better feedback I would suggest to the owners of Anchor Motor Lodge that it would be a great idea to install either fans or air conditioning units in the units along with automatic bug spray dispensers.

When we first checked in, we were impressed, but it stopped there. The manager handed me a key and said the room was down there. When tried yo open the door, the key would not work until many attempts. He told me there was so mething in side the lock, so he would have to have it replaced at some time in the future.Next it was warm and humid, raining off and on, and we discovered that there was no air conditioning or even a fan. The unit was quite large with beds in the living room and a bed in a separate bedroom. The bed in that room was an old fashioned full size bed, much too small for us. When we asked about the advertised "free" internet, he handed me six certificates each good for 60 minutes of connect time or 100mb of data. I had to use my cell phone as a hot spot when I quickly ran out of minutes or data using up a lot of data I had prepaid for with a sim card. Next, there were a number of dogs running around. My wife is quite allergic to dogs. We spend an uncomfortable first night and we expect the same tonight.

Stayed here for two separate nights, while we were travelling around the North Island. Both apartments were very cluttered with furniture that was just not needed. EG a hat stand and 6 foot shoe rack.

Had asked for a cot as we were travelling with an 18 month old and on arrival were told it was broken.

Wifi was fine although passwords were only active for 30mins.

Location is good as it's minutes from the beach.

An amazing place to stay, convenient to the town area just 5 mins walk and just opposite the road is the beach, 6 km from Waiwera hot pools. Very good for couples or family. I have been working in hotels for 5 years now and if you are looking for something affordable and want to feel at home this is 1 place you should choose, great for your kids and for the whole family. I have been there once but really want to go back agai

...and location is the best of it.
Been here 5 nights and had to ask them to clean the unit as well as get clean towels. The only reason we got those was because I put the dirty ones outside the front door.
Customer service negligible. Oh, and don't ask for a facecloth or handtowel, they're just not provided.
As of writing this, our unit still hasn't been cleaned!
