Detailed Reviews
Really enjoyed our 2 night stay at the Rocky Mountain Chalets.
Staff were very helpful, the 3 bedroom chalet was clean and comfortable with all the facilities of a small home including an excellent kitchen with everything required to cook and eat home-cooked meals. Beds were really comfortable and the heat pump kept the house toasty warm. There was a nice dining area with table and chairs for 6 people and a lounge with a modern TV and comfortable seating for 6 people.
We will definitely be back.

The Rocky Mountain Chalets are a wonderful collection of small cottages, of differing sizes, nestled on the outskirts of Ohakune, NZ. The cottage in which I stayed was well provisioned, with all necessary kitchen items, linen, towels, and even powder for the efficiency washer. The location is convenient to several natural attractions and a short drive to the restaurants and shops in Ohakune. What made my stay exceptional was the warmth and attention given by the managers. The husband and wife team went well out of their way to ensure my stay was perfect and I thoroughly enjoyed all of our chats. I strongly recommend this establishment if you’re staying in this part of the North Island.

We were excited to stay in Ohakune with it being so close to the Ski feilds and with awesome bike tracks and a kid friendly park next door . Accommodation at Rocky Mountain Chalets was everything they advertised friendly service and the managers exceeded our expectations with hospitality. Chalets are clean and spacious! Everything you need for a family holiday. Would have been a 5 rating if their internet was adequate. Hot water is electric cylinders so need to be aware of shower times !!!

Great location, a short walk into town and to 🥕 park. Such a great set up. Everything you would need for a family get away.
Beds were comfortable and kids appreciated having their own beds (they'd shared a double at the previous place we'd stayed at).
Shower was awesome.
Would love to stay again.

We stayed in Ohakune during a quiet May weekend, and really enjoyed our time at the cosy Rocky Mountain Chalets. The chalet was spacious, warm, and well equipped. We welcomed the hot shower after a cold day out in the mountains. And we also appreciated the assistance from staff in returning a lost item promptly - thank you very much for your kind help!!

We loved this accomodation, the chalets are just amazing. All you need for a lovely stay in a great location. Our chalet was positioned a few rows back so we couldn’t hear any road noise. Great contactless option for check in which was hassle free

If we could give this a negative score of NEGATIVE 1000 we would!
Unless your looking to experience abusive behavior from the manager, (we were specifically called and shouted at on numerous occasions; "retarded", "mentally challenged disabled") and to be charged incorrectly and unlawfully outside of your contractual agreement, i would not recommend staying here!
The manager deducted the funds from our account against the agreement where we specifically selected "Pay on arrival" and provided the evidence to support this on numerous occasions to which they still wasted further of our time by not refunding the exact amount when they stated they eventually would.
The response from the chalet was basically suggesting they do this to guests all the time without their consent and this was provided in writing by the chalet.
After trying to rationally resolve this with the chalet for many days of this ongoing abuse, we finally got a full refund to support the correct amount.
On top of this my cousin who was coming on holiday with us is of special needs. Based of the non existent customer service we I am extremely glad we received, we managed to avoid staying at this Poorly run chalet. If this is what the manager is like - what hope do the rest of the staff have??!!
BEWARE!
we are now seeking legal advise and been advised that the chalet have gone against consumer guarantee by not following the terms and conditions of the payment agreement.

We have been here a few times now. On a previous visit we felt let down by the chalet and the service we have received. Management apologised and assured us that this is not the standards they aspire to. I am glad to see that things are back to normal again and we were welcomed to a clean and well-equipped property. Staff were friendly and helpful.
I am glad that we have a "go-to" place again in Ohakune!

All the amenities were functioning and excellently maintained. The room size was superb. The apartment's location was excellent. The hot tub and sauna were really nice. There were plenty of nice restaurants , convenience stores and attractions nearby. Parking was available and convenient. The staff members were attentive and helpful and gave us some great tips for sightseeing and shopping.

Chalet was spotlessly clean, extremely well equipped, warm, comfortable and welcoming. View of the mountain top from our front door. 2 indoor spa pools and a sauna available on-site and a stones throw from Ohakune town centre....right next to the big carrot. Fantastic host was friendly and helpful. Highly recommend this lovely accommodation.
