Heather and Peter are great hosts, very helpful in every respect! They gave us a warm welcome and prepared a very early and a very good breakfast for our Tongariro Crossing tour. The special offer was their hot tub after the tour to relax :-)
They recommended us a few restaurants in town as well as some suggestions what to do and where to eat for our further trip.
In the evenings Peter dropped into the guest lounge and we had some evry interesting conversations with him and the other guests.
The room was very comfortable, the B&B is situated in a quiet rural surrounding, with many animals around, a nice garden, only a few minutes into town.
Thank you for this wonderful stay in your charming B&B!

Ruapehu country lodge is set in an outstanding location with beautiful expansive grounds that complement the equally outstanding accommodation. Bernie and Marie are exceptional hosts who run this idyllic country lodge where you can either relax or test your endurance with the wide variety of activities in and around Tongariro National Park. Both Marie and Bernie are very active people and they have an absolute wealth of knowledge of the local area and what you can achieve, no matter what your physical capabilities are. Their rooms are very comfortable and warm with most leading onto a personal patio area within the amazing garden area. Breakfast is personally prepared to your liking and Bernie will spend unlimited time going though your day ahead to ensure you achieve the best from your stay. We stayed just prior to Cyclone Gabriel and the weather wasn’t great but with Bernie’s help, both during our stay and assisting with our route on departure, we had no time to spare and had fully packed days. In addition to your en-suite accommodation, there is a very large guests lounge, a hot tub, sauna, BBQ and the lodge grounds at your disposal. These hosts are truly outstanding and couldn’t be more accommodating and welcoming making you truly feel at home in their home. This is a great location and I would certainly recommend to friends and family.

Heather and Peter are great hosts. They made us a very early breakfast at 6.45 in order for us to be on time for the Tongariro alpine crossing. That evening they served a very good bbq, so that we could stay at their place after hiking the 19,5 km.

We’ve stayed at the lodge many times because of the nice rooms, picturesque grounds and outstanding hospitality from Heather and Peter. We were treated to their yum breakfast before heading off on a bike trail. We recommend the lodge as a great location to explore local sites of the National Park and Ruapehu. We got a bus at TCB in town which shuttled us and bikes to Horopito to do the downhill (mostly) ride on the Old Coach Road. This was an outstanding combo which we will be doing again soon.

It was our first visit to Ohakune and what a fantastic welcome we received from our hosts, Heather and Pete !
( and adorable Ricky Martin too !)
Ruapehu Country Lodge is beautiful, a real home from home, with lovely grounds backing onto a golf course.
All the rooms are very comfortable and beautifully decorated. We stayed for 3 nights over the christmas holidays. Heather and pete looked after us perfectly, with superb breakfasts each morning, cooking us the best christmas dinner and being such incredible hosts !! Heather also arranged a pick up so we could get to walk the Tongariro Crossing. Pete made sure that the hot tub was kept warm so we could have a welcome dip with a cold beer !!
It will definitely be a christmas none of us will forget !!
Thanks once again Heather and Pete for a wonderful stay !!

Fantastic place to stay, the perfect location to enjoy all the great activities that this area has to offer. Hosts Bernie & Marie are keen skiers, hikers, & bike enthusiasts, so they’re the ideal hosts for this area. A beautiful & immaculate property set in stunning grounds, lovely spacious private rooms with garden views, large guests lounge, hot tub, & spa pool. Enjoy the homemade cookies, & the farmstyle breakfast. Super convenient to great restaurants in Ohakune, & a beautiful property set in the quiet countryside to relax. Definitely stay for a few nights, this a magical spot.

The drive into the property through manicured hedges is a heads up that this place is kept in immaculate condition.
The room was warm, modern, well appointed and very comfortable with a second access to an amazing lawn which leads onto an 18 hole golf course.
The hosts have an incredible local knowledge about dining, skiing, mountain biking and tramping. We found their advice enhanced our stay and outdoor experience.
The breakfasts were individual to our needs and plentiful in choice providing a wonderful start to each day.
We loved our time here.

My friend and I stayed here as we were cycling the Old Coach Road. On booking the Lodge, Marie and Bernie were super helpful and booked our electric bikes on our behalf and offered to take us to the start of the track at no additional cost.
The lodge itself is so beautiful and the grounds and rooms are immaculate and modern. Breakfast was included in the package and was also amazing. Marie and Bernie were so lovely and helpful and made our stay extra special!! We will definitely return here and I can wholeheartedly recommend the Ruapehu Country Lodge. It is also just a very short drive into the town where there are some lovely restaurants and cafes.

Wish I could rate a 6, as this is an exceptional B&B, with a beautiful and perfectly appointed house (lovely rooms and common areas) and manicured grounds with gorgeous gardens, trees, a stream, sheep and llamas, art (made by Bernie!) and games. Marie and Bernie are extraordinary hosts, they make sure to provide anything one may need without being intrusive at all. From a hot tub after hiking to a ride to the ski slopes, to delicious breakfast and helpful information (thanks for the River Road tip)... they make the stay special. Can't recommend more. Thank you, hope to be back.

We arrived to an amazing real country style rural BB setting in the middle of the North Island with charming manicured large garden well endowed with artistic sculptures and added bonus of some unforgettable animals (alpacas). The hosts Marie and Bernie are truly social people providing top notch service and mouth watering food and keeping us entertained and well informed.
This place and the hosts provided what we are looking for when we travel - people, food and accommodation. Exceeding our expectations and we are so pleased that we stayed at Ruapehu Country Lodge during our road trip recently.
Thank you.

Hi Colleen Thanks so much for your query. In total we are about 20kms from the ski field itself but just 7kms (10 mins) from the mountain road and 5kms from town. We can accommodate you however we do not have any adjoining rooms. They are side by side. It's just like being in your own home with two bedrooms beside each other. Our rooms cost $220 per night per room assuming two people in each room and include a lovely fully cooked breakfast. If you decide to book, I would be happy to offer you a 10% discount. We ahem a family staying with us at the moment and she has just told me how happy they are they decided to stay here. We have very comfortable lodge style accommodation. Kind regards Heather
