Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Gorgeous property, cozy room and delicious breakfast. The hosts were just wonderful. They provided a lovely spread every morning. We couldn't get a restaurant booking in town and they personally called the restaurant and got us a booking. What more could you ask for.

This is the perfect place! A really nice couple Marie and Bernie, who are friendly and interested and helpful. Beautiful room with ensuite and huge garden with jacuzzi and very nice golfcourse accessible through the garden. Perfect stay for the Tongariro alpine crossing but also many hidden gems near. Very clean, good breakfast.

Wish I could rate a 6, as this is an exceptional B&B, with a beautiful and perfectly appointed house (lovely rooms and common areas) and manicured grounds with gorgeous gardens, trees, a stream, sheep and llamas, art (made by Bernie!) and games. Marie and Bernie are extraordinary hosts, they make sure to provide anything one may need without being intrusive at all. From a hot tub after hiking to a ride to the ski slopes, to delicious breakfast and helpful information (thanks for the River Road tip)... they make the stay special. Can't recommend more. Thank you, hope to be back.

The Lodge is very well equipped and comfortable and the hosts can not do enough to make you feel at home, including sharing the lounge with the log fire. Bernie and Marie are very welcoming and provided excellent tips on where to explore, places to eat in nearby Okahune and the spectacular drive on the Whaganui River Road to Pipiriki.

Comfortable B&B in Ohakune close to Tongariro National Park. We enjoyed the hospitality from Bernie and Marie and appreciated their alternate activity suggestions when the early spring weather made it impossible to hike the Tongariro Alpine Crossing. Although there was a storm in the mountains, we enjoyed seeing the Milky Way and stars from the back lawn - beautiful! We stayed here at the beginning of a multi-week trip to New Zealand, and it set a high bar for the rest of our lodging. If was my wife's first time at a B&B and she remarked that she couldn't have had a better stay. We'll be back for the crossing, and we'd love to stay here again!

This is a great place for family getaway; good location, cosy rooms, sumptuous breakfast and friendly hosts (as well as alpacas and cats)! The lodge is just an easy 30 minutes drive to Turoa ski fields and nearby walking tracks. We enjoyed the spa, feeding alpacas and sheep and had a totally relaxed afternoon tea just outside our room overlooking vast greens of the nearby golf course. At night in the centre of Ohakune village which is just 5 minutes drive, there are several restaurants which offer great food. Definitely a recommended stay!

Stunning property with gorgeous and spacious rooms. Bernie and Marie are excellent hosts who are very friendly, knowledgable, and easygoing. The breakfasts were excellent, the jacuzzi a warm welcome after a long day, and the opportunity to snowboard Mt. Ruapehu a real treat. The property is quiet and away from everything but just a short drive to town and restaurants, though you may not want to leave! Sitting by the fireplace in the lounge and enjoying some hot cocoa was splendid. I highly recommend this property for a relaxing and adventurous time near Mt. Ruapehu.

The drive into the property through manicured hedges is a heads up that this place is kept in immaculate condition. The room was warm, modern, well appointed and very comfortable with a second access to an amazing lawn which leads onto an 18 hole golf course. The hosts have an incredible local knowledge about dining, skiing, mountain biking and tramping. We found their advice enhanced our stay and outdoor experience. The breakfasts were individual to our needs and plentiful in choice providing a wonderful start to each day. We loved our time here.

No words can describe the hospitality of the hosts. We had the most relaxing time here. The room was super cosy and immaculate. Such a lovely setting. It was better than most of the top rated hotels in the country that we have stayed at. Bernie was absolutely wonderful and so helpful! He was very welcoming right from the get-go.
