Superb place off the road, quiet and view of Mount Ruapehu. Spacious and clean room. Discreet service. Enjoy the possibility of Indian dinner, our host offered us very tasty dishes. Lunch in the room allows you to organize to leave very early for Tongariro Alpine Crossing.

This is our second stay at Tongariro Suites, first time since it changed hands to new owners. The accommodation is super relaxing, the rooms are large and the hosts are passionate about making sure you have a comfortable stay while constantly stocking the room with food and drinks for breakfast and to get you through the day.
We stayed here because it is relatively close to the Whakapapa ski fields (30mins) and Ohakune Town for dinner/supplies.
Only negative is the wifi/internet wasn't the fasted and would drop out at times. However considering the location is remote and it relies on mobile internet you'd expect that. Thankfully it encourages you to spend less time on your devices and more time outside in the amazing surrounds.
We would definitely stay here again!

The place is ideal to tour the area and visit the national park. The rooms are comfortable, with views of the mountains (volcano) and are very well equipped, they are almost apartments with terrace. We were prepared a hearty dinner of delicious Indian dishes cooked by the attendant, who in addition to good cook is very friendly and polite.

Tongariro Suites is situated about 15 km outside Ohakune down a very quiet street. Each room is a suite with a separate sitting area that looks west towards the mountains.
The room was clean and comfortable. The staff was excellent.
The only drawbacks are the distance from town and the thin walls that permit conversations on adjoining rooms to be heard.

While I never pay more than about $120 for a room in NZ, I decided to treat myself for my birthday and stay here for 3 nights. It was so worth it. I didn't want to leave!
For the price, I got everything I expected. Easy check-in, a run down of the fireplace and hot tub, lovely snacks and drinks and an exceptional view. I appreciate the level of detail and cleanliness. They've thought of everything and I never had to ask for something. I also loved the eco-friendliness just like I'd do at home with a small compost bin, tree-free tissues, small recycle bin and no plastic containers.
The robes were soft and comfy, as was the bed. The fireplace was amazing (and also a heater on the wall). The bathroom was luxe with a great bathtub (salts, candle, wine glass and face towel included). The very nice lotion and body gel didn't go unnoticed either!
We only ever saw the wife once and the husband popped his head in while we were in the hot tub to introduce himself, although I would have liked to meet them a bit more.
Thank you for a lovely stay and will be back again if in the area.

This place is in the middle of nowhere, situated very quietly and peacefully. The rooms are beautifully appointed, and large - separate kitchenette, shower room and walk in wardrobe. Everything is in good taste, and of the best quality. The view from the large windows of the Tongariro range is amazing - the doors open onto the garden and little pond, with a resident duck. Breakfast is left in your room, with a wide variety of cereals, porridge, etc., and our host was very accommodating and helpful. A lovely place - do visit.

The B&B offers everything you could need, from a hot tub through a washing machine. As others stated there is no dinner, I want to clarify that you can order custom home cooked food from the staff. We tried the local pizza place though (15min drive) and it was really good. The breakfast is DIY with ingredients provided, but this did not detract from the experience for us. The location is perfect and the views rewarding.

Room Tip:Take the Tongariro room which has the best view by far (the other room are good too though)

We came for a single night and wished we had stayed for two. The bedrooms were superbly appointed one of the most comfortable beds I’ve ever slept in. We had a nice hot tub on the terrace and then enjoyed a quiet evening in our room. The views of the mountain where as promised although there was a little cloud.
The owners pride themselves on being very eco-and recycle friendly. All of our breakfast was either home-made or presented in little glass containers which could be washed and reused.
We requested electric car charging and I got the impression we were the first people who had ever asked! The owner, Karel, was very helpful and got us an extension lead which worked fine.
Highly recommend

We were moved here last minute because Chateau Tongariro was suddenly closing. Suite was very nice with some treats provided. Very private location and we were able to find some good restaurants in nearby towns however the towns were very busy and you needed reservations.

We stayed two nights in Tongariro Suites, Ohakune, near the Tongariro National Park. This place is really amazing and we loved it. Mandy, the owner, made this stay for us unforgettable. She is very friendly and invited us to have dinner together with other guests in the living room. It was wonderful and at the end we were dancing together. Really amazing time in this wonderful B&B hotel. The rooms are super nice, modern, with wonderful view to a nice garden with a little lake. Every detail is there, everything very clean. You can have breakfast in your own room, but also it is possible to join the kitchen and living room. Very peaceful place to relax in a hot jaccuzi. Only a few kilometers to Ohakune, where you can find restaurants and shops. Good place to visit the National Park. We especially enjoyed this wonderful place and the company with Mandy. Unforgettable stay, highly recomended. We hope to come back in the future. Big hug Mandy and thanks a lot. Wish you all the best. Javier and Ute
