Detailed Reviews
My daughter and I booked the one bedroom unit here for 2 nights because we were travelling on Northern Explorer. We were glad we did - it was so close so we did not have to lug our bags for miles and there are no transport options. It's a great base for a carless visit to Ohakune, near the junction restaurants and a good stroll to Ohakune for bike hire to do the Old Coach Road, visiting the carrot, and brunch. It was slightly more than a motel unit from my experience but I loved the view of the mountain from the lounge and the clean and comfortable unit. The hosts were really lovely, sharing recommendations and advice and also offering bikes to ride to town and a late checkout on our departure date.

Have stayed at Station Lodge many times mostly in the chalets. We've stayed for a few days and also for up to 10 days. The accommodation is fabulous with excellent mountain views. Very clean and all necessary amenities available. Full kitchen in 2 bedroom chalets with dishwasher and proper oven as well as microwave. Own drying room and spa a real bonus. 1 bedroom units also very well appointed and luxurious too.
Just a short walk to all the restaurants at the Junction.
It's also very close to the mountain road so good for mountain access and if you don't take your car up the mountain the managers can provide shuttle transport for you. Being close to the station there is also the option of getting to Ohakune by train.

We stayed in the 2 bedroom chalet. The chalet was very clean & tidy. The owner very helpful & friendly. The chalet had everything you wanted and our friends (also staying) enjoyed the spa pool after a long day of cycling the Timber Trail. We also cycled the Old Coach Road on the day of departing, and popped back to have a shower at the Hostel accommodation. Was very impressed with the hot shower there.

I booked the one apartment here for 2 nights with my children, the room is very nice and clean. Location is also great easy to find the restaurant near the apartment and the owner is a lovely gentleman with a welcoming approach to all his guests. Thank you. We will come back next time.

It is updated as a ‘low-cost’ camp site, but it is the most expensive camp site, we have visited during 1 month in NZ. We paid 100 dollars for an unpowered site with a campervan, 4 adults and 2 kids. We should have paid another 33 dollars, if we wanted power. That’s even more expensive than the Top 10 camp site in Okahune, where we would have paid 131 dollars including power.
How is that ‘low cost’???
Other than that there was NO hot water - neither for showering, nor dishwashing. If you should consider camping here, DON’T!!!

Kia ora 348Methew, Thank you for taking the time to review your recent stay with us. We are surprised to hear that you found your non-power campervan site for six people to be expensive, $20.00 per adult & $10.00 per child. This is our advertised price, so there are no surprises about what you are getting before you arrive. I did notice that you had no problem, sneakily plugging into the power which you hadn't paid for. Once you requested the use of the power, and you were unhappy with the additional $30.00 charge, I gave you the option to change to the Top 10 if you wanted, but you said No No No, we are happy here. Compared to a traditional campground, we offer a fully equipped kitchen, including, plates, pots pans, cutlery, plus tea towels, dish liquid and brushes. All of which is not provided at a campground. We have a state of the art heating system, which heats large volumes of water very quickly, so I am surprised to hear that you had no hot water, given that we are connected to the same system, and no other guests complained about that problem, so I'm not sure how that could be the case. I find it interesting, that you came to reception quickly regarding the power, but found it easier to complain about no hot water ONLINE (here instead) If in fact, there was no hot water, this would have been a straightforward fix at our end.

Our family of 5 stay in a Station Lodge Chalet whenever we hit the slopes in Ruapehu. The Chalets are well set up for snow sports with a drying room, kitchen, gas fire and hot tub to ease aching muscles at the end of a long day. Cosy, comfortable and in a fantastic location in the Junction at Ohakune this is a perfect home away from home for us.

Station Lodge apartments are a great option for families needing some space to spread out & options to cook in the well equipped kitchen after a long day in the snow. The only downside for us was not being able to access & use the drying room at the main lodge which was a minor inconvenience but may be an issue for those staying longer and heading up the mountain each day. Other than that I couldn’t fault it - warm & cosy with everything we needed & lovely, helpful hosts.

Kia ora Caminokate, Thank you for your review of your recent stay in a one-bedroom Apartment. We are pleased to hear you found the Apartment to be warm and cozy. Station Lodge manages these Apartments, and the owner of the Apartment does not supply a drying room or spa pool. Station Lodge itself does have a drying room and spa pool which is only available for the Lodge guests; often Station Lodge is booked out exclusively for groups. This is outlined on our website and the YHA booking site. We look forward to having you stay with us again.

We stayed in a 2 bedroom chalet and it was great. Clean, tidy, spacious and exactly what we needed. There was more than enough room for everyone, we had 5 adults stay. The accommodation has a lounge, TV, bathroom, 2 bedrooms (no beds in the lounge), full kitchen (with oven) and everyone loved the private spa. From the unit we were in we could see the mountain from the kitchen window. Awesome location! Right in town, close to the Ohakune Old Coach Road, right next to the train station, supermarket etc. Private carparking space, off the road. Cannot complain. Would definitely stay here again.

We had a family room for four people and found it very suitable. It also had its own en suite. We had access to all the other facilities too. The kitchen was very clean and well organised and the lounge extremely comfortable. We particularly enjoyed sitting on the veranda with a wine in hand at the end of our full day's mountain bike ride. We had some great views of the mountain . We would fully recommend this as a delightful cozy place to stay and really good value for money.

A lovely place to rent for a large family group or with a bunch of friends. A very clean, well organised hostel with good facilities and all day sun. The kitchen /dining area is large with several seating areas. There is a separate lounge. Rooms adequate size, light sunny with crisp sheets. David, the owner and host is helpful and a very pleasant person. Storage for bikes and spa a bonus.

There is a mixture of dorm rooms and backpacker stay and then down the drive I think there were about five little units / chalets there.
