Hotel located in a very well decorated historical building.
The room is spacious and decorated in the Castilian style.
Cleanliness, without being impeccable, good.
I didn't like not having Wi-Fi or a television signal during the stay.
At reception, first they told us that there was a breakdown (for five days), then that they only had Wi-Fi in common areas; The reality is that there was no Wi-Fi in the room or in common areas, nor was there a television signal in the room.
If it were not for this incident, the score would be somewhat better but I must value my specific experience.
If I returned to Àvila, I would probably consider other options.

We also turned up for breakfast without a reservation, and it was no problem. While breakfast might not be the Ritz, for €6 per person, it is certainly a bargain.
I should have taken pictures before starting to unpack.

All places (reception, halls, bedroom) are immensely spacious.
It’s a shame that for the breakfast service the dining room is too small, which means you have to choose a reservation time. And in our case, although at the requested time (the first service) we had to wait nearby.
The soundproofing of the rooms needs to be improved because we could participate in our neighbors' discussions.

We received the keys without having to speak to reception via a locker on the front door and room door.
Setting is very traditional and authentic. Room as comfortable and quirky, excellent value.
Breakfast room could do with a refurbishment. Food was adequate.
Would recommend.
On arrival, because we had already checked in, we felt that our reception lacked any personal touch with us. We were sent an email and various codes and instructions and information were contained in that email. This may all have been put in place because of Covid but I would point out that this stopover was one in a trip of 5 nights and this was the only hotel where this procedure was in place.
This stopover was in August and the room ambience really suffered from a lack of aircon which would be difficult to install in such an old building. There was an electric fan supplied but this was a noisy option.
Breakfast was a total melee! Too many people having to queue for food to be served by staff, obviously due to Covid regulations, and in a small area where maximum numbers of people was impossible to control.
As for the walled city of Avila itself, fantastic! Beats Toledo and Carcassonne hands down.

"Parking directly at the hotel is not possible but within 150 - 250 metres there is on-street parking available. "greenzone" parking costs around ONE EURO only for 24hr"Read full review
