Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.

Hotel very well located, whether you come with your own vehicle or by train.
It has free parking areas and several supermarkets very close by.
The bed is very comfortable, which is appreciated if you go for several days.
On a negative note, the room does not have a refrigerator.

The hotel don Carmelo is located very close to the train and bus stations but a bit far from the town centre (more than 1 km). Considering that most of the way is a pleasant walk through a garden, this is not a problem if you don't mind walking and you want to avoid the hustle and bustle of the town.
Our room (a double, No. 405) was big enough and functional, spotlessly clean, decorated in the seventies-eighties style and provided with AC. The wi-fi connection in room was virtually useless, being very weak and unreliable. The bed was a three-quarter one. In the bathroom, there were a bathtub and a bidet.
The breakfast buffet (which costs 7 € per person) is large and of good quality. They also serve decent meals at lunch and dinner.
All in all, for 45 €, I would choose it again.
Oh, one last thing: the main entrance could be awkward for those with walking difficulties (several steps and no ramp). In case of need, I suppose one could get in through the door of the restaurant, on the left.

I arrived very early and the bags were held for me in a locked storage room until I formally checked in in the evening. They said check in was from 13:00 but I returned much later.

The hotel is very close to the railway station outside the old walls for which Avila is famous.

Buses are cheap at €1 and the #1 and a few others stop close by that can take you to or frommthe old walled city. But it is only a 15 minute walk away.

The hotel is simple evidenced by the traditional key on a heavy knob. This can be left behind.

The room and the bathroom are fine but not luxurious. The towels are quite old though.

There is a cafeteria attached open to the hotel and the street. Food and drinks can be brought form the cafeteria to the lounge / TV room.

Thus the hotel is fine and good value for money.

This is a good, basic hotel with no frills. There is only a cafe bar for food and we ate out and found a good breakfast along the street. There is underground parking at the hotel with plenty of room for 10 euros - good value to keep your car safe.
If you are trying to find this hotel, come to it from the northern side not the southern side. If you are coming from the south, take the 3rd exit on the motorway in the direction of Madrid. It is virtually impossible to drive into the hotel from the south as the Walled Castle is in the way.
The receptionist only spoke Spanish but my rudimentary Spanish was adequate. To improve this hotel, they need to extend the bar into a restaurant.

This is a modest hotel but with all the necessary. The rooms are very clean and comfortable with all the necessary. No fridge in the room nor kettle. It is not located in the city centre, but Ávila is not very big, just a nice walk. Breakfast buffet had all the necessary, excellent coffee and attentive staff. The gym is really good. This is a good option to travel with family.

My husband and I stayed in this hotel for two nights in february of this year. It is a fair walk to the center and it's attractions but served our purpose. Personnel polite, breakfast normal variety and room with a decent view of the street covered in snow at that time! Quiet except for some traffic noise before midnight and clean enough. Luggage was kept for us in a pile along with a mountain of other cases on the day we were leaving which made us a bit nervous! Was a difficult time to get a reservation as we came for the 'coming out 'parade of the newly sworn in police so in the hotel as with Avila in general, we felt they took all the visitors a bit for granted during this time. Was a good enough hotel for what we wanted and if you wish to visit this beautiful city, this hotel is on par with all others.

Correct hotel, about ten minutes from the center of Ávila. It is older, but the maintenance they are carrying out is good, although, for example, nowadays more plugs are needed, we all have to charge cell phones, tablets, etc... more so if you travel for work. There was only one in the entire room and it was poorly placed, none next to the bed. It has a very complete gym, one of the best I have found in the hotels I visit. It is in a green area to park, but for very little money (€0.40) you park all morning or all afternoon, at night and at noon it is free and almost at the door you leave the vehicle. I slept very well, it is well soundproofed. Comfortable cafe, although a little expensive. The hotel has a good price and if you go for work, I recommend it.
