The location is perfect, just two minutes from the Plaza del Mercado chico (the town hall) and about 5 minutes from the cathedral. It's inside the wall. You can reach the hotel door by car, if only to get your bags down. The room is a bit small, especially the bathroom, it is a bit uncomfortable. It does not have air conditioning, although it does have a fan. It also has no elevator or 24-hour reception. He needs some fixes, for example, the window in my room was broken and only one of the leaves opened.

If you can sleep thro a storm/sound sleeper, you will no issues with this Hostal. Access is via a door code then another code to access your key from the safe box by your door. There is no parking anywhere near the hotel. You could stop outside the front door to unpack, but be quick. Lol. Our room was clean with a comfy bed and pillows. A small balcony with a roll up external blind give access to the outside world. The balcony doors are double glazed but NOT sound proofed. A lot of noise is evident. It is situated inside the city walls. If you are a light sleeper then you may well have issues with; noise from the building site across the narrow road starting approx 07.30 (this is a transient problem); the traffic noise directly outside your room, the central heating clicks in at about 06.30 with a fair amount of noise and running water sounds, anyone running a tap or flushing a toilet. All these are very noticeable. Down rated because of noise level and unloadi g issues.

The hostel is very well located, inside the walls and quite near the cathedral. The place is very quiet and safe. The room was not very large and the bathroom is very small, but everything was clean. The employees were very nice, and they give you the key of the hostel in case you want to come back late. There is a free parking near the hostel. I recommend it for a 1 or 2 days stay.

I booked this room because in a touristy town where prices soar for weekend getaways, it was the last available economical option when I needed to overnight for business. I can see why: I can't believe this would be anyone's first choice. My room looked nothing like the photo on the booking site. A funny smell as soon as I entered the room; scratched, scuffed walls; people constantly trudging noisily up and down the stairs, and walls so thin one could hear every burp or sneeze. In addition, it was -5ºC outside and the heating only came on from 8pm to 10pm, then again at 9am. Worst of all, when I went out for coffee in the morning I found one or possibly two people sleeping in the common room facing the (unstaffed) reception desk, with food wrappers strewn around them; unsure if they were guests who'd argued with their roommates or just people who wandered in off the street. Unfortunately, when accomodations switch to unstaffed reception with keys in boxes and no employee on site, one runs the risk of such events.

Unbeatable location, in a semi-pedestrian area, very picturesque, within the walled area of the city. Rooms not very large, rustic, that comply. Everything was clean and access was easy. Very correct bathroom and more than good value for money.

Small bathroom but without the need to be larger. I have missed some countertop or shelf to place my toiletry bag. Very clean room and bathroom. The beds and pillows are very comfortable. The room has a fan in case it is hot.

As a solo traveler looking to stay in Avila for 1.5 days, I found the family-run Hostal Alcantara perfectly suited my needs for a very reasonable price. The staff was very warm and welcoming. The provided a map and shared the biggest highlights to visit and were considerate in asking when I may need to return and whether I should take a key or if someone would be available. Free wifi is available in the hotel. The hotel is also conveniently located 30 feet from the wall port near San Vicente (highly recommended to visit) and the tourist information office.

This hotel is right in the Wall city, everything is at a convenience distance. The room is clean, bed is firm with good clean sheets. The small washroom has everything compressed inside. The only complaint I have is that they probably wash their bedsheets in some fragrance. I have allergy and is hypersensitive. I hope they read this and wash their sheets without fragrances because there are a lot of people who are sensitive to floral fragrances. My overall review is the is a great location and price.

A modest accommodation but a very sweet one! The Cuban Lady, an all around worker of this hostel is most entertaining and friendly. Our room was nice, bathroom way ok and we had a little balcony looking out to the cobblestoned narrow streets and the tower of a church. It was clean and comfortable. Location is perfect as it is right inside the walls of the city. Everything was great!
