The hotel is located in a very good area, next to the cathedral, the rooms are comfortable and clean, the staff are attentive and friendly, and the breakfast, buffet style, is very good... and nevertheless I would not recommend this hotel for a rather annoying detail: the noise of the plumbing. When in another room they turn on a bathroom tap, you hear the pipes as if you have a speaker in the room, which makes the stay not very pleasant if what you want to do in the room is rest. This is not the normal noise of a pipe, but a really loud and annoying noise. Also, amenities do not correspond to a hotel in this category. To give an example, in the bathroom of a 4* accommodation I am used to find gel, shampoo and hair conditioner, and in this hotel only have an "all in one" shower gel. And although the room was double with two people, there were only amenities for one person (one toothbrush, one shower cap,...)

A total disappointment. I was hesitating about this establishment and another and in the end I stayed with this one, which I greatly regret. A four star that I don't know where it comes from except for the location, which is the best in all of Avila next to the Cathedral. We booked a Superior Double room (which is the one we always book in all the Hotels we stay in). Absolutely nothing to do with what was announced on the Hotel's website. Small, very uncomfortable, the worst bed I've ever had, the springs were noticeable, there was no pillow menu… The bathroom was in the room, the cleanliness left something to be desired in the toilet area, we even found a nail on the floor, the The shower is large and comfortable (thank goodness), the bathroom amenities are hilarious, the mini bar only had two bottles of water, no service that denotes the stars it has. The waitresses were very nice (the only ones in the hotel). If this opinion helps someone, I will be glad that they don't make the same mistake as me. There is the Palacio de los Velada where friends stayed and left delighted. I know for next time.

The location is 10. Fantastic also the decor and cozyness of the common lounges on the ground floor. The charm totally loses the cafeteria. The decoration changes totally in that space, and becomes anodyne, as if it were the canteen of an office. Meanwhile, the rooms are spacious, very bright, and the bathroom is renovated and is large as well. Very comfortable bed. Extraordinary cleanliness. Staff is not the nicest thing in the world, but they are polite and try to help, if you ask them. With all this, I consider it to be under the parameters of a 4-star. Therefore, the value for money is not the best. I consider it expensive for what they offer as a whole.

It makes me very sad to write this, but... The hotel is a palace that must be beautiful, but we don't know because the entire ground floor was under construction. Neither on their website nor in booking do they mention it and they charge you as if we had been able to enjoy their rooms (all under construction) or the central part of the hotel (closed with a gigantic plasterboard). In short, you enter the hotel and go down a hallway watching construction work until you reach the elevators to go up to the rooms, which is the only place where you can be comfortable. On the ground floor there is only an aseptic cafeteria where they offer a normal buffet breakfast. A shame, the truth is that I only blame the property. Friendly staff, spacious rooms, comfortable beds, normal bathroom (the door hits the bathtub). I advise calling before booking to ask if they are continuing the works that seem to last (or that the property announces it on its website and gives a discount that is worth going to just the room).

The experience at the Palácio de Valderrábanos hotel could not be worse. To begin with, the entire hotel is undergoing works, so all the beautiful images of the historic building sold by the hotel at this time do not reflect reality. The reception is improvised in a cafeteria on the side of the hotel, which is completely disorganized. I've seen 1 star hostels with a better reception. I understand that works are necessary and should be done, but if you sell your hotel as a historic palace, you need to take into account that this hampers the customer experience. It's not the same as a commercial hotel being under construction. The ideal was to close the hotel during the works, or at least offer a very generous discount on the rates. I also have criticism of the service. The day we were in Avila, we were surprised by torrential rains. I asked the hotel about the possibility of borrowing an umbrella, which I was told was not possible. It was already night and there was no store available to buy the product, so I had to get wet to go to dinner. Does a 4-star hotel in a tourist town in Spain really have the capacity to lend you an umbrella? To finish, the bed is very bad. No positive points about the hotel, besides the location.

It is a nice hotel located in a privileged place in the city. The downstairs lounges, corridors and reception are lovely.
The cleanliness of the room was terrible. We changed the sheets when we opened the bed and saw the dirt. There were hairs on the floor, shower, bedroom, etc. I've warned reception so that others don't suffer this.

Hotel 10 meters from the cathedral, perfect location. Maybe a four star that has one to spare. Still, recommended price/quality. Friendly staff. Breakfast somewhat poor and repetitive. Room a little tight but clean, with also a nice bathroom.

The rooms that have already been renovated and the common areas and staff are very pleasant and the location is excellent. Right next to the cathedral. There is no breakfast but there is the Fortaleza cafe nearby with an excellent breakfast. You can't park there either, but there is a telpark 3 minutes away.

Nice rooms, great breakfast. Lovely communal lounges. No tea/coffee facilities offed in the room, which was disappointing. Location could not be bettered. Staff botched up my wake up call one morning, which was not great but fortunately not a disaster as I was not racing to catch a flight.

There are more places to choose from in the Avila area.
