We had the opportunity to stay at this hotel during a recent visit to Avila Spain. The hotel is located directly inside the main entrance to the city and is in fact built into the city walls- an amazing location! We upgraded to a premium room (#107) which had a Juliette balcony and was very spacious. In addition to the usual conveniences including a mini-fridge, coffee maker and a/c-heat the room was finished to a very high standard with top line furniture, accessories, linens and bath products. The room was extremely comfortable and quiet. This is probably the best hotel in the Best Western family we have stayed at. One odd feature was the climate control system which is apparently partially managed by the front desk staff and we discovered the a/c shut off in the middle of the night and we had to ask the desk agent to turn it back on. There is a very nice restaurant as well as a terrace (casual) restaurant and a "cafeteria" which served sandwiches and light meals. They did seem a bit overwhelmed and were short of staff in the restaurants, but everything was well prepared and tasty. The hotel features a spa which we did not have a chance to visit. The entire property is extremely well decorated and furnished and you can tell a lot of consideration went into the process of converting it to a hotel. Parking is limited (being inside the city) and you should reserve a place at the time you make your room reservation, the charge is $15 euro per night. Should you choose to not dine at the hotel restaurants, there are a dozen or so places a 10 minute walk away just outside the city walls, although I would avoid the ramen restaurant which is staffed by rude and unprofessional employees- we actually got up and left! Overall you could not ask for a better location or hotel in Avila. One nice thing about staying here is that after the tour groups have left for the day, you can wander the quiet city in the evenings and enjoy the atmosphere.

We were in the middle of a road trip around Spain. We wanted to visit Avila and chose to stay in the Sofraga Palacio. Well we struck lucky! Some of our other choices during our trip didn’t meet our expectations but this choice was head and shoulders above all of the rest. From on-site parking, checking in and entering our room we couldn’t fault anything. The hotel is a mix of old and new and beautifully decorated with modern touches to suit current lifestyle expectations. To have the city wall incorporated into the hotel corridors is a fantastic feature. Also energy saving lighting that comes on automatically when you walk through the hotel. Our room was very spacious with A/C, a very comfortable bed and a modern bathroom with all the amenities that we needed. We used the restaurant and lounge bar which was very nice with lots of choice. The hotel staff were excellent and their language skills exemplary. The breakfast offerings were slightly different to what we had previously encountered on our trip. Everything was ordered from a menu rather than buffet style. We found this a much nicer way to start our day and very enjoyable and thought that way there wouldn’t be too much wastage. There was lots of choice for drinks and food from cold to hot with no limit on what we could order. Service was quick and the staff were very attentive to make sure that we had everything we needed. If we’re ever in the area again we wouldn’t hesitate in booking this hotel, from start to finish our stay was wonderful and Avila is a wonder in itself. Congratulations to the whole team - Best Western - Best Hotel on our trip.

Booked two rooms, Suite and Presidential Suite, one night and it was superb. Love that rustic design with a modern touch. Everything about this property is the original with the new.
Welcoming was excellent, reception with a smile, plenty of information to questions asked and assisted with everything.
Lobby zone, small and cozy, corridors grand with that rustic feeling and excellent interior design.
Room wise, both the presidential suite and king suit of a similar size and layout, door entrance, small bathroom (with rain shower) entering into the living area followed by the bedroom. Additional bathroom with a walk-in rain shower. Both bathrooms had excellent amenities and products available. Love the shower, cannot beat a rain shower, a must in my opinion.
Bed, of a good size, surrounded by the original castle walls (amazing), lines of a high quality and plenty of choices on pillows with a bed (not too soft and not too hard). Slept like a baby in comfort and warmth.
Presidential Suite had a bath in the bedroom area, which is a nice touch, but the water pressure is poor and it would take way to long to fill, so never had a chance to enjoy it, shame really. Also the hot water situation was questionable as there was not in the bath. Probably a good idea to have such fixed. Small negative only, if staying for longer, would have wanted a running bath with pressure and hot water.
Overall the room was cozy, well designed and had everything one would need for a nights stay or a weeks stay. Just loved the interior design. Nespresso coffee machine and coffee available, mini bar, plenty of space for clothes and overall well designed.
Restaurant, ate in the courtyard and the main restaurant, both were very good and the service excellent. Would have probably ventured into the town if there for longer, but no complaints at all, great service and foods full of flavor.
As an opinion, this is a location for a couple of days maximum, i would have loved to stay the extra night and just relax in the cozy environment of the hotel.

I think this might be the best Best Western in the world, although I haven’t been to them all of course. We loved this hotel from start to finish. Firstly arrival and parking, it’s always a bit of a stress thinking how difficult it might be to get to the hotel/parking in the Spanish old towns but given this hotel is inside the old city walls it really was easy to get in and use the on-site hotel parking, the hotel car park is 10 meters inside the wall and easy to access as well as easy to get out of for a large SUV. Secondly, the welcome was excellent, a warm welcome, speedy check in and clear instructions on what was where and service times. This continued throughout, with the lady on reception showing us to breakfast and introducing us to the waiter. The breakfast was fantastic, lots of choice and excellent quality, the avocado on toast was fantastic and our son enjoyed the pancakes. The hotel is so nicely located, set into the historic city walls, with actual exposed stone inside from the wall adding to the extremely well restored and maintained interiors which continue into the rooms, with the old palace doors sliding aside to reveal a spacious bathroom with double sinks and rainforest shower with robes at the ready. The beds were very comfortable from which we had views of the old city walls outside. The bar and dining area outside is lovely, with tables and sofas outside set in the middle of greenery with regular visits from the sparrows. It seemed like the hotel bar was the place to be in Avila, it filled up early evening and was busy until late. The bar had a great selection of drinks.
The hotel was slightly more than we usually pay when traveling through Spain but we’ll worth the extra. One of our very favorite places we’ve ever stayed on our travels and would strongly recommend.

The Palacio Sofraga hotel offers high quality in all its services (rooms, staff, cleaning, a la carte breakfast...) and has an excellent location in the historic center next to the wall.
However, I would criticize something that could be improved. When they have wedding-type events, they could place some signs at the entrance so that guests do not stay in that area (under the windows) making noise and disturbing guests.

Beautiful hotel in an old palace perched on the shoulders of the walls of Ávila, a stone's throw from the Cathedral. Restored with taste and great care, it combines the historical and the modern through careful decoration. In the superior double, the bed was very comfortable, high ceilings, a pleasant rain shower, complimentary coffee and water, all in line with the quality that the hotel assumes on paper. We didn't find bathrobes or hair conditioner upon arrival, but a call to reception solved the small problem.
Special mention to the excellent restaurant (one of the best in Ávila and without a doubt above the average level of the old city) and the beautiful cafeteria and its glass gallery, we returned to the kindness of its waiters again and again after the obligatory walks through the old town. It is open to the public and almost always packed, it is advisable to reserve a table.
It is highly recommended to reserve parking, it is very convenient. And breakfast is absolutely essential: fresh, à la carte, unlimited, great toasts, Iberian meats, fruits... crazy.
We left the hotel satisfied and smiling, remembering other hotels where we were happy, to whose list, without a doubt, the Sofraga Palace is now added.
Thank you! And see you soon

A stone's throw from the boy is this wonderful hotel-restaurant. It has a restaurant and cafeteria at the foot of a large pine tree. Since the restaurant was full we had to eat in the cafeteria, they placed us at a table under the umbrellas and it was wonderful. We chose the gastronomic menu, €39.90 per person instead of the Avila menu, which was around €23. We tasted local breads and oil, ten-size-fits-all revolconas potatoes, excellent beans, meat that was so good with potatoes and green peppers, chicken nuggets and real chips, not frozen ones like in other places. and you could see the difference, the only drawback was the dessert which was several types of cheese, quince and jam not because it was bad, but because as a good sweet tooth I would have preferred a cake or ice cream, it also includes a bottle of red or white wine, a bottle of water and coffee or infusion with some small yolks. Everything was great, the attention of the waiters, the environment and the food, there are cheaper options in Ávila, but it is worth eating here, to repeat without a doubt. We still had to cover the interior part for another time.

We ate in the French terrace area, the place was very well maintained although the bathrooms were a bit eccentric for a refined space. Excellent food and unbeatable service. Approximate price of 3 starters and two drinks, €39 per person.

We held a family reunion of 28 people occupying 8 double and 4 triple rooms during the weekend of January 12-14. The experience was unbeatable. The rooms are new, beautiful, comfortable, super clean, etc. The breakfast is extraordinary with top-notch products and very personalized service. We had dinner in a private room (La Muralla) that was perfect in size, lighting, decoration...and the menu was great. And above all I would like to highlight the hotel staff. From reception to events, to any of the waiters at the bar. All of them are friendly and super professional. I take this opportunity to congratulate the Sofraga hotel and encourage them to continue in the same way.

Located just inside the castle wall this hotel is ideal for visiting the pleasant city of Avila. It is easy to find and parking for Motorcycles is just inside the main gate plus it is free however it isn’t ideal because of the gravel surface. The alternative is to park at the side of the hotel on the hard standing. This is also free. If you choose to use the main car park it is €15 per night. All areas are locked and secure at night.
The hotel is tastefully decorated and of a high standard. The rooms are well equipped and very comfortable.
Breakfast is 100% al La carte and it is excellent. There is an abundance of choice and it’s all freshly cooked.
The bar area inside and outside is comfortable and very relaxing. The slightly annoying thing is you have to pay a surcharge if you sit outside and have a drink.
All in all this is a very nice place to stay in Avila
