Perfect Villa and location for our family. We had our family in a 2-bedroom villa and each bedroom comes with its own Bali style bathroom. Short walk down to Echo Beach which provides a lovely beach, great surf and many amazing food options in the local warungs. Can not thank Joni and his team enough in making our stay easy and enjoyable. No request is ever a problem, and they were always there to help with any questions we had. If you are looking for a quiet, peaceful, relaxing, spacious, affordable family accommodation, this is your place.

We stayed at Echo Beach Villas as a family of 4, us in early 60's and 23 year old daughter and her partner. We had a 2 bedroom villa with private pool and it was awesome, it was like a home away from home. The bedrooms were spacious with a garden shower and the common room area was excellent, huge area with kitchen, breakfast bar, dining table and chairs and lounge area with TV. Ceiling fans and large floor fan in the living room with air con in the bedrooms. The private pool was excellent with a large decked area with 4 sun lounges and a beautiful garden wrapping around the courtyard area, all enclosed within high walls, very private and beautiful. The staff at Echo Beach Villas took such great care of us, it was amazing, the cleaning ladies, the pool cleaning man, the drivers and Joni and Aan. We ordered the breakfast a couple of mornings (about $7 per person, fresh juice, banana pancakes, eggs, coffee, muesli with yogurt) and 3 ladies turned up at our gate with their blender filled with fresh made juice, and all the brekky stuff ready to prepare, and came to our kitchen and cooked a wonderful breakfast for us, set our table and served it all up for us. It was excellent and thanks so much ladies, you were wonderful as was your breakfast. Canggu beach was a short 2 or 3 minute walk away and there were restaurants up the road about 5 minutes walk, Warung Kezia was an amazing little restaurant so close by, 5 minute walk. The scenery around this area is stunning with rice fields and predominantly small buildings, lots of shingle roofs, very beautiful. Our drivers who took us into town and to the supermarket (complimentary travel each day) were excellent, Hanu and Kadek, and thank you som much Kadek for the amazing day we had at Ubud and the hidden canyon. Joni arranged scotter for us to hire at about half the rate we paid in Seminyak the week before which was excellent to ride around the area. It was very safe on the scooters and everything is really close by and only a short ride to the town centre where the markets and shops are. Last but not least, sincere thanks to Joni. You are such an amazing and beautiful soul and treated us like friends when we arrived, but then like family after that. You made our holiday such a beautiful experience, can't thank you enough and can't wait to come back.

Staff were some of the nicest people I’ve dealt with, especially johnny I think was the manager or owner.
Location was great. Minutes walk from canggu beach with many bars, shops, beach clubs and restaurants within 5/10 minute walk and lots of activities to do on the beach. The surfing was a great experience.
Very clean, private and luxury for a bargain of a price.

The local staff and drivers were very friendly and extremely helpful. Our bathroom ceiling fell in and they moved two of the group to another apartment promptly. However booking.com describes the property as beach front, which it isn’t. To get to the beach one has to walk up a dirty unpleasant path. The whole place was worn and in need of refurbishment not as shiny and nice as the photos. Also there were 6 of us and only 4 sunbeds and a small sofa in the lounge. We were disappointed.

Response from Echo Beach Villa and Apartment, Owner at Echo Beach Villa & Apartment
Responded 24 Jan 2025
Dear Guest, We are sorry to hear that your experience did not meet your expectations. However, it is entirely untrue that our booking states the property is beachfront. The very first line of our description clearly reads: “Located in a small and private neighborhood, only 100 metres from Echo Beach.” The “dirty unpleasant path” you described is generally a clean and well-used path to the beach, frequented by many tourists. Unfortunately, the conditions you experienced were the result of an unprecedented amount of rainfall, which was beyond our control and unrelated to the property itself. We always strive to maintain the highest possible standards, and we apologize if there was anything in the villa that you found not up to standard. However, we are confident that the extreme weather during your stay greatly impacted your overall experience. While this is beyond our control, we are very sorry that your holiday may not have been as enjoyable as you had hoped. Thank you for sharing your feedback. Best regards, Echo Beach Villa & Apartment Team

After reading the great reviews here on Trip Advisor we were pretty excited to escape for a relaxing holiday in Canguu at Echo Beach Villas, envisaging quiet, luxury accommodation on a picturesque beachfront. As soon as we pulled up we knew this was not to be the case. The four villas are located close to the beach but are not enclosed. They are exposed buildings on the busy junction of a dusty dirt road. We were greeted by the lovely manager, Ayu who showed us to our villa (#2). Upon entering, our initial 'wow' (it looked beautiful), quickly turned into a 'what now?'. The problems quickly surfaced. We had the run through where everything was and were given a list of numbers (for driver, restaurants etc) as the villas are not manned all the time. I asked if there was a phone (as couldn't immediately see one) and was told, yes. We were asked to immediately pay the balance of our bill however they could not get their credit card machine to work. So we were asked to pay ASAP by PayPal. Luckily we had our iPad with us which enabled us to do this otherwise we would have had to use all the cash we had available. It was at this time we discovered there in fact wasn't any phone in the villa but we were expected to use our own mobile phone (which we did not have). This was a big problem. Taxis are not permitted in Echo Beach so we were reliant on their driver who we were unable to contact. Ayu, understanding our predicament, offered us her personal email address and said she 'always checked for messages'. The villa is beautifully designed but is far from practical. It is completely open (except for the two bedrooms) and is hit with blaring sun from early in the morning. The living/kitchen area very quickly becomes a hot-box and there is no shade or umbrellas by the pool. The only means of escaping the sun/heat during the day is to hit the pool, or retire to the bedrooms (which have air conditioning). At around 4pm the mosqitos and bugs come out so fears of being bitten (dengue fever etc) were high. There were no mossie coils etc in the villa and the pull down blinds did little to prevent the nasties from getting in. We are not afraid of crawling thing but this would be an issue for those who are, with geckos running around on the walls and frogs jumping around at night. We were unable to use the pool area at night as there just was only a few small lights in the garden (no pool light) making it too unsafe. That first night (Fri) when my son went to bed, there was a problem with two lights which were strobing when turned off, making it impossible to sleep in there. We had no option (as no way of contacting the staff with no phone) but to have him sleep on the floor of our room - not ideal. We alerted Ayu of the problem the next morning. She brought in someone to look at it but were told a technician would be in later that day to fix it. Mid morning we lost all power (which included all water) which apparently is a common occurrence so decided to walk to a cafe to hang out. As mentioned the villas are located on quite a well used dusty track which leads to the beach. Being open, the villa was constantly dusty (including dinnerware which is kept on open shelves). There are constant cars and scooters using this dirt track and at times using it like a racecourse! One time a guy on a scooter was going so fast, fearing for our safety I waved my arms around telling him to slow down. I was totally ignored and we ended up completely covered in white dust. We also had an incident where two guys (westerners) were using the bridge near the villas as a motorbike ramp, with no regard to pedestrians trying to cross. Later that Saturday when we returned to the villa, the power was still off and one of the housekeeper (who spoke little English) said the technician would not come due to the power-out but would be there the next day. So our son had to sleep on the floor for a second night, and then a third night as we didn't see anyone the following day. Wanting to arrange a driver to take us to the supermarket (for groceries and mosquito repellents etc), and to arrange entry to Changgu Club for the next day, we sent an email to Ayu as she suggested. We did not receive a reply. We did however have two ladies knock on the door of our villa who we thought were housekeepers (?), they did not speak any English. Finally worked out that they were door knocking asking for donations!!!! Power came on finally in late afternoon, and now we were without any hot water!!! (See what I meant with our 'what now?' comment, before?!!). So Saturday night, we had no food/drinks, no response from the villa manager, no hot water, unable to sleep in second bedroom and no way of contacting management (owner was way that weekend). Not the relaxing/luxury holiday we had planned. Walked to the beach (not far from villa). It is a surf beach (too rough for us to swim at), and on this particular section there are numerous (pretty rough) pubs and beach drinking; not suitable for young kids - lots of broken Bintang bottles on the ground and on the sand (you get the picture), so we opted to walk along a poorly lit road for some take-out instead. Sunday morning, there was no sign of Ayu (and still no response to our email the day before) but I did find one of the house cleaners. I mentioned the lack of hot water and questioned what was happening with the light. She could not understand me but kept asking what time we were going to Canggu Club. Told her we hadn't heard from Ayu so using her phone, she called Ayu for me. Ayu said she had only just read her emails, didn't apologise for not responding but said she would arrange a driver to take us to Canggu Club at midday. I told her we had no hot water and she said she would head down to the villas. Didn't see her. Had a great time at Canggu Club (were able to take advantage of the Villa's Platinum membership benefits) and had driver (finally) take us to the supermarket (2 days after arriving). Sunday night we had no hot water, and were unable to use the second bedroom (still!). On Monday morning on our way out, we bumped into the owner who asked us how our weekend was. Really??!! He was completely oblivious to any of the maintenance problems we were having. When we talked about our son having to sleep three nights on the floor of our bedroom, he asked why his staff simply had not removed the faulty globes for us - exactly!!! This was done (finally) however the hot water was not fixed (until the night we were leaving)!. There are some nice cafés and day spas within walking distance although with no paths in the area, you are only able to walk on the road, which is a bit dangerous (especially with kids) at night as not well lit. Overall a disappointing experience, specifically paying for a two bedroom villa but only being able to use one bedroom, having no hot water for four out of five days and not having any phone but relying on cleaners to phone driver (who was so lovely) for us. Can understand things happen, but for us, the experience put a real dampner on what was supposed to be a relaxing family getaway. Sadly I would not recommend staying at Echo Beach Villas

Dear Shaddie. There's not enough space here to answer all the points ! So, all I can say is that I was glad to meet you and that's a pity that you don't want to come back. Hard to have 100% returning guests anyway. Yes there's been some issues, some under our control, a few others out of it. I discussed with you many times and I was not expecting a review like this that is in my opinion slightly exagerated. If you want to come back, you are very much welcome and we'll do our best to satisfy you like we do for all our clients. You would notice many positive changes I am sure. Best regards from Echo. After to visiting Bali many times we thought we would try a villa for the first time and also Canggu as we had never stayed there.
We were concerned our 10 and 12 year old would be more bored in a villa as we had just spent 5 nights at the holiday inn Tuban. As parents we were grateful because the villa made us get out and do more as there is no restaurant on site. We did have the option to be served breakfast daily at approx $5 per person. We opted for in house breakfast the first morning (which was great) and we did a shop at pepitos for cereals, bread, fruit and milk. The room is well equipped with a blender for juicing, a toaster, a coffee pod machine and a filtered water station in your kitchen.
Joni our host/villa manager was able to organise a driver very quickly whenever we wanted to go out. Charges were based on distance and were very reasonable.
After a while we realised it was quicker to walk along the beach front to and from dinner and there were a lot of people around which made you feel safe.
Good places to walk nearby were kinoa for clean eating and amazing coffees and echo beach club for a good dinner and a great cocktail menu. Lovely to watch the sunset.
We loved Santorini for dinner and also Deus Ex Machina that had top quality food.
We also had good times at old mans and backyards for lunch. (Or dinner)
The aircon in our room could have been a bit stronger and quieter and was hard to change the temperature. The kids room had good aircon.
The outdoor bathroom was wonderful and the simplicity of the room and lots of cupboard space was great. The bed was firm and so too were the pillows. A softer option for some pillows would help.
Joni provided us with 3 Australian charger plugs for charging phones etc which was really helpful. The tv has enough channels.
The pool was great and it was nice to be right there to go in and out whenever we pleased.
The other great thing is that Joni gives you passes for free entry for a family of 4 to Finns splash waterslide park. You also get 30% of the trampoline centre and bowling. These same passes gives a family of four a free double daybed at Finns beach club. After lunch and drinks we spent about $50 which was better than going there with a $200 spend minimum for using the day bed and pool.
I would thoroughly recommend echo beach villa due to value for money, Joni being able to help you if you need anything and the villa itself having everything we needed for a great family holiday.

We stayed in one of the new 2 bedroom apartments and I really can't find fault the accommodation - it was clean, spacious and had everything we needed. It's perfect for a group of friends or a family of 4. Pool was also great as was the level of service from all of the staff.
Whilst the location is good (walking distance to spa, beach bars, a few restaurants) the access could put some people off. If you're on foot you have to either negotiate a short cut through a rice paddy OR go via the beach. There used to be a road that linked the accommodation to the main road but this has been blocked off. If I came back with my 2 young sons, it would be quite difficult coming to and from the villa. And I definitely wouldn't walk either of those routes on my own or without a torch!!

We stayed in Villa 2 for 10 days at the start of August with our 2 teenage girls.
The villa was fantastic - offering seclusion if you just want to relax by the pool, a lovely open living area with sofas, TV and DVD player, and large air-conditioned bedrooms.
Villa kitchen was well kitted out - enough cooking equipment for some basic meals, but a great selection of restaurants and bars within reasonable walking distance. Special mention to the Red Salt Cafe who delivered and also the barbecue restaurants just along the beach.
The beach is about 50 yards away - black volcanic sand but still great for a quick dip and watching the sun go down with an ice cold Bintang from one of the beach bars - and a really great surfing location. The villa is far enough away that any noise from the bars is not intrusive at night.
We really need to thank Joni and his team who looked after us - some great recommendations for things to do and places to see, and nothing was too much trouble to organise. Our girls loved the ATV Safari and the water sports, but we also did some culture and sightseeing and the obligatory shopping trips. The villa is at the 'far end' of Echo Beach so you do need to be prepared to drive to places - and the nature of the roads and traffic is such that the best option by far is to get Joni to organise a car and driver for you; Butu was great and took us to lots of places that we would never have gone to on our own.
The villa was cleaned every day including changing the flowers - and the optional breakfast was really good. All the staff we met were really friendly.
All in all a fabulous holiday to remember

We had the pleasure of spending 3 nights at the Echo Beach Villas earlier this month. The villas are located very close to the beach (about a 5 minute walk) and not too far from the restaurants in the area. All the amenities in the villas were of a higher than normal standard and they were presented extremely well.
We found the Echo Beach area to be really laid back and relaxing compared to the hustle and bustle of Seminyak. The eating is of a good standard with some really good local eateries where the food was of high standard and substantially cheaper than Seminyak.
Transport can be a problem as taxis are not allowed into the area to tout - did not miss the consistent beeping of horns - but hire a scooter and it's very easy to get around.
Highly recommend the area - will definitely be going back - and highly recommend Echo Beach Villas and the especially the manager - Brendan - nothing was too much trouble.

We are a family of 5, 2 adults and 3 children. We stayed for 7 nights in a 4 bedroom Villa. The Villa was of a good standard and the location was also good. The staff at the Villa were fantastic, Jay our driver was fantastic he could not do enough for us. It was an absolute delight to jump into his car each day. Ketut our chef was also fantastic and we were really pleased to see his lovely breakfast each morning. He prepared a seafood feast for us one night and it was to die for. His patient gentile nature personified the Balinese spirit, he was so kind and encouraging with our attemps at Balinesse and Bahasa language. And Jimmy the house cleaner was professional and thorough cleaning up the endless mess we created ensuring the Villa was absolutely spotless as did the other cleaning staff. Without these Guys it would have been just another Villa stay in Bali. With them, it make for a fantastic and unique holiday. Big statement, but best Bali family experience yet.
