After 20 incredible years as the cornerstone of the Berawa/Canggu community, we announce with profound gratitude and sadness the official closing of Desa Seni, A Village Resort as of January 15th, 2025. We are thrilled to share that our new location in the heartland of Bali, Baturiti, Mayungan, is now open and ready to create new memories. Desa seni is an oasis in the heart of Canggu madness! This iconic resort continues to deliver a high standard of hospitality and an amazing vacation experience .The huge tropical garden , artfully designed and impeccably maintained provides a much needed escape from the chaos of the area. Everything you need is on one site! Excellent daily yoga classes in two outdoor yoga shalas to choose from, a delicious organic food menu in the delightful restaurant, a massive salt water pool one can actually swim lengths in! And big poolside lounge chairs and umbrellas , easy to spend a perfect day poolside after yoga and breakfast . The spa offers excellent massage and treatments. Desa Seni is a special place and highly recommended .

Rustic villas, comfortable beds, friendly staff and great yoga. The pool is lovely too. It is not your typical resort. It is quiet and peaceful, but in a great location so easy to get around if you want to explore more what Canggu and Seminyak have to offer.

Hello Spiesw, Thank you. It was great having you here and happy that you got to participate and be a part of our village resort. There is nothing typical about us, I agree. Quite happily agree. Our salt water pool is a favorite, and the best way to get a cool off in the tropics. We look froward to your next visit.

Arriving in Bali after a long flight I spent four nights at Desa Seni enjoying the lush gardens and pool, thoughtful design and services. It’s a beautiful retreat from the overdevelopment of Canguu and busy traffic and construction. The yoga classes are very good and the spa provides excellent treatments. Delicious food and comfortable accommodation meant I didn’t want to leave this charming retreat space.

I planned to visit Bali islands for a holiday in Decemer 2023 with my 80 year old mother. From U.S, I booked this resort, Desa Seni after going through the reviews on the website of the resort. Most of them are praising the serenity of that place.I booked the resort for 3 days. The resort has lots greenery surrounding the cottages. The people taking care of it and working there are very polite and helpful. Yes, it is supposed give the guests the experience of an old rustic style of life with its own charm , different from the mechanical, chaotic urban way of life. Unfortunately, this resort has gone to the extreme to make the guests experience a primitive kind of life. The interior of the cottage is very shabby and depressing. The furniture look like ones that have been picked from the street discarded by some people, as useless and ugly. The main door is rotten, weak, the windows are not latching properly , an open invitation to the tropical insects to enter into the room. The maintenance of the wooden partition, the doors , windows all are absolutely neglected; there seemed to have no effort made to paint once, on the very faded painting, without distorting the charm of the old original paint and the pictures. The floor is covered by a very old torn and dirty mat, under that, the boards of the floor keep shaking while walking on it. My old mother had to balance herself carefully when she was walking inside room. The rustic design of the bathroom is really pathetic. There is no washbasin in the bathroom , there is only a flat wooden slab under the tap, the guests are supposed to brush the teeth and spit on the slab or wash the face, water falling and scattering on the slab which spill over on the clothes of the guests. In fact, it is disgusting to spit and wash on the wooden slab which is flat, does not even have a small curve like a sink, so that the water wont splash on the person once she or he opens the tap Another disturbing aspect is the tin they have kept near the toilet , to dispose of the tissues. It is small , rusted and looks like one which is discarded by a beggar as no longer useful for him as a begging tin.The inside of the room ,with the old faded and broken door and the dirty, furniture an eyesore, presents a very depressing ambiance , while resting in the room. to escape from the starching heat outside. It is really atrocious that in the name of giving the experience of a rural, rustic life , this resort is kept in a pathetic and terrible condition, charge the tourist unfair amount to go through this very very primitive rustic experience, which can be experienced just by living in a tent in an open space, for lesser cost.

Hello and Happy New Year! Wow, is this ever out of left field. Not even sure what to say other than what a shame you did not say anything while you were here about such horrendous, depressing, faded, scorching, beggar, shabby, primitive, experience? Great word choices by the way, an expressive one. Wishing you the best, Thomas

Am not sure if it's due to Covid-19 but I had a poor stay in this resort. It was severely overpriced at SGD373 per night with a room that was poorly maintained. It was extremely stuffy at night as the air-conditioner was not working well. The service staff was disengaged and ignored our requests. Front desk forgot our check-out time and we had to bring our own luggage to reception. The food was alright but not exceptional like what many of the reviews have stated. It's simply not worth the amount they are charging.

Desa Seni is just paradise! The place is so well designed, with a lot of beautiful details, the rooms are nice, pool area amazing and the staff is soooo friendly. They know your name after day one and will help you with everything you might need. The food is so yummy (the smoothie bowl is a must!) and the two yoga shalas are just perfect with such nice energy. I especially enjoyed Wolfs classes. It’s not in the center of Canggu so you definitely need a ride (you do anyway when in Bali 😅) but they are building a sidewalk just now.
