My husband and brother in law have been going to Sea Otter Lodge for 20 yrs, and every year I complained that it wasn’t fair that I stayed home working and with the kids, so last year I went and brought our son for his 3rd time! I will never begrudge them going ever again! I’m not the fisherman they are but I had AN AMAZING TIME! It is beautiful, the fishing was so fun, Tim and Murtie are some of the finest people around, the staff are incredible (they are quizzed on all the guests names!). The rooms are cozy and the beds are soft. I have food allergies and the staff were careful with my food and always have an option for me. There is a two year wait to get in, so you know it is worth the wait!

Found this lodge after watching the main lodge building being constructed on the Building Alaska show on TV. Called to book a visit and found out it was over 1 1/2 years before they had an opening. We stuck it out and the wait paid off. Albeit, not ideal weather the last week in August, we still had a blast and brought home a good amount of Halibut, Salmon, and Black Bass filets. Tim, the owner was fantastic to work with, especially given our lack of experience saltwater fishing. Getting your own boat was outstanding. Weather permitting, we got to go where we wanted, when we wanted to go. We had 11 whale (humpback and orca) sights during our trip. The staff were all amazing and catered to our every need. The food was plentiful and really good. We will be back!!!

Beware! After booking a trip nearly a year ago, we received notice that our reservation was cancelled. The date we had booked was opened up after someone said they were not returning. Apparently, they changed their mind and were given our reservation! After a year of planning and preparing, we are now left high and dry as other lodges are full. We are out more than the money and time we have put into this. Please know that you could be next to be duped here. Run!

Tim and Murtie have created a place where your fishing dreams come true. My husband and I fished 12 hours a day for 5 days and never got bored. The sound is beautiful, the lodge is perfect, the food is excellent, the staff made me feel very spoiled, the wildlife and fishing are incredible. This place books up 2 years in advance. The fishing is self-guided so you get to keep more of your catch. The process your fish and get it to the freezers at the Ketchikan airport. I really can't explain how good this place is. I can tell you the my husband and I had never fished for halibut, and the first halibut we caught was 65 lbs. It was a blast to land. I hope and pray that I get to go back someday.

It starts with the owners and staff. They all call you by your name, what a respectful treat. The facility is spotless and very clean, and the food is five star. My wife and I have traveled to fishing lodges all over the world, this is #1. We have found the lodge we would like to return to year after year. Peace, tranquility, and overall beauty tells you a little about what to expect. Once we made our commitment to go, Tim and Mertie, the owners made all the arrangements. This operation is above first class. We thank you for allowing us to visit your lodge. Tom & Carol

If you're looking for an premier Alaskan fishing trip, Alaska Sea Otter Sound Lodge is the ultimate destination in salmon and halibut fishing. Your hosts Tim and Murtie Comer graciously welcome you to their amazing and beautiful floating lodge, tucked in a lovely cove. You can fish a fully guided option if you wish, but one of the things I love best is the self guided fishing. Each caibin or room has its own perfectly stocked boat for fishing inside the sound. Your first day begins with one of their expert guides to get you started on hot spots, tackle, rigging (all of which are fully loaded and ready to go). After you get the hang of it, you are ready to FISH ON! as little or as much as you like. Gourmet dining will keep you energized for the hot and heavy daily catches. Fully guided charters are also available to fish for trophy halibut, long cod, and many other types of rock fish on the Murtie C. Throughout the day you can stop back by your your room for a nap or hot bath if you like, where you will be greeted by many of the wonderful staff to take in your latest catch that is immediately filleted and flash frozen. Grab a snack and you're on your way again. Don't fish? Enjoy amazing wildlife like WHALES and sea otters and entire families of bald eagles. This is our fifth year and It does NOT get better than this! Almost forgot... You fly into Ketchican and spend the night in a beautiful 5-star hotel and fly out in the morning via float plane (all included). Bring your camera!
