We were met by Susan who was so warm and welcoming, one of the reasons why we keep coming back to Rarotonga because of its local hospitality. She had also given us delicious freshly picked tropical fruits which went down a treat on our first day! The owner John met us the next day and he was ever so friendly and made sure we have what we needed. The house is utterly amazing, the pictures on the website just does not do any justice it is even magical in person. The setting was right next to Muri lagoon with the view of marine reserves. The pool was exactly right, and we certainly used it when it rained for 3 days straight, weather did not spoil the fun for us at all! The house is clean and have all the amenities you need; it was a home away from home feeling. The upstairs bedrooms are open plan so if you are a snorer, please be nice and supply earplugs for your fellow housemates lol. I absolutely love the fact that each bedrooms have their own ensuites and downstairs have a separate toilet. The beds are comfortable and facing the lagoon which was such a treat when waking up in the morning, definitely appreciated by my fussy partner! The house is less than 5 mins walk to a local store and another further 5 mins to a larger local store. Rarotonga is definitely expensive these days for basics and treats but I am happy to report if you love seafood, it is still the best, I will highly recommend Ocean Fresh any day however they only trade by cash only, so you’ll need to be prepared when you get there. If you are familiar with Rarotonga this house is literally minutes’ walk to Muri Beach Club and Pacific Resort you have the option to walk along the beach or road completely up to you. We absolutely love this house that we are about to decide our dates for next year! Thank you, Susan, Joy and John, for your hospitality, our family can't wait to come back.

The navigator had exceeded our expectations. It is absolutely beautiful. We stayed for 7nights. It has everything you need in one place. You have your little haven and privacy. To have access to your own pool and beach as well as snorkeling gear to kayaks was a bonus. The shops are walking distance as well as the food markets and so much more. Joy was fantastic to deal with from emails right up and through our stay. Fast responses and very helpful and friendly. Would highly reccommend this place to stay if your looking to stay in Muri Raro. Thank you so much Joy...we will see you on our next trip to Raro.

Definitely one of the best locations in Muri. Spent 2 weeks in paradise here. We’re supplied Kayaks which make for some good fun! It’s very open living which is nice and very spacious so plenty of people can stay here with no issues. Highly recommend staying here

We stayed for 4 nights in a girls trip away. It was the perfect setup for friends. Beautiful swimming pool and only steps from Muri lagoon. The house was private and had all you may need including kayaks. Biggest eels ever in the creek which were fun to watch. Handy to cafes and bars. Joy was in hand to help at all times and even called after one of us had an altercation with a bird to check all was ok (thanks to the neighbour for helping us out). Highly recommended. Staircase is a bit of a mission and as the rooms don't completely close off I wouldn't recommend sharing with another couple but perfect for friends or family.

Our 2 week vacation at The Navigator was fabulous! The house was wonderful and stocked with everything you would need. Loved being able to just open up the house and let the ocean breezes blow through. We had several doggie visitors during our stay, but one particular dog became very fond of us. Joy and John were the best hosts we have ever experienced. Very helpful and came by a few times to clean the beach and pool. The lagoon was beautiful. There was a cyclone which passed by during our stay and helped to move the algae through. We did kayak and walk to the island across the way. The water was never more than waist deep, but I do recommend water shoes due to the rocks and sea cucumbers. We are looking forward to a return trip in 2018.

This is the second time we have stayed at the Navigator and have already booked for next year. It is a magic place set on what is really a private part of Muri Beach. On arrival you are in awe of the house and the outlook. We used the pool more this time, so coupled with the beach, we swam heaps! We had friends stay for some of the time this time and they were just as impressed and sold on returning to this little oasis! We used the barbecue heaps - great to be able to have our own meals around the pool. Joy and John were away for most of the time we were there but they had organised someone to take care of our needs extremely well. Before we left I had seen some stuff at the art shop that I wished to purchase but they were closed so Joy happily organised to buy on our behalf and send it to our home. Thanks heaps Joy. I doubt you will find a more beautiful slice of paradise than what The Navigator offers - great house, great beach, great outlook and great hosts.

Probably the best location on the island. Muri Beach and Titikaveka have the reef furthest from the shore giving the largest area of lagoon. The Navigator has the advantage of being tucked round the corner from the main beach, hotels and Captain Tamas 18-30 type of fun and games. It has its own bit of beach which isn't actually private but is rarely used by others. Down by the beach we had no problem with Mosquitos. The only proviso and Joy, the owner, was quite upfront about this when we were making the arrangements is that it is not suitable for young children because of its design. It has an open staircase with a stainless steel rail at about 3 foot with nothing to prevent toddlers falling under that to the floor. The bedrooms are 3 walled and open at the front with a drop to the ground floor protected by a similar steel rail with two loose-ish horizontal steel wires below and parallel to the top rail. Nothing to stop toddlers rolling under it and dropping to the ground floor. Finally for those used to countries with swimming pool H&S there is no fence to the swimming pool. We were there with a four and two year old. They were banned from going up and down stairs on their own and were sufficiently grown up to obey the instruction!! We bought a 300m catering pack of cling film and went round and round the front of bedroom rails to make a sort of barrier which was probably enough to hold back a two year old but more importantly made the area opaque so there was nothing to attract the children to the danger spot. As for the pool, our attitude is that a fence leads to complacency on the part of the guardians.. Pools are straightforwardly dangerous to non-swimming children and there is no alternative to constant surveillance. The toddlers preferred being in the pool with their arm bands and buoyancy vests to being in the sea and loved playing on the beach in front. If we return to Rarotonga we will definitely stay there again. It's position and facilities easily outweigh for us the potential dangers but if you have daring children who test your nerve generally it might not be very relaxing. Finally as the website makes clear and I mentioned before the two bedrooms are not completely private from each other so you would have to take into account how intimately comfortable you are with your companions!!! Joy and John Young, the owners are very pleasant and happy to be helpful. If you are not wanting a hotel holiday and prefer to take a house this is the one to take unless the warnings that I have related put you off

An amazing house, (so spacious and very modern) and location, pool and beach right on your door-step. Excellent view overlooking the lagoon. It was like having your own little hideaway in paradise. We made good use of the kayaks and snorkel gears. Joy and John are terrific hosts. What else could you ask for. Our flight was cancelled, and our daughter was booked on a separate flight from us. Joy was there to meet her on arrival, as well as meeting us the following night. I would definitely recommend the Navigator to others, and would stay there again if we decide to go back to Rarotonga.

We stayed for 6 nights with our 3 teenage children. We could have stayed 6 weeks. What a great choice, upon arrival we couldn't believe how big the house was or how gorgeous the view. Joy met us with big smiles and lovely welcome, fridge full of goodies and kitchen very nicely set up for us (even having removed the modem at our request prior to arrival - no internet for 6 days would do our teens good!). We self catered for most of the holiday and ate all our meals poolside on the deck - the bbq was fantastic and got a lot of use. The house was super clean, heaps and heaps of big white fluffy towels, we especially liked how well set up the kitchen was. Location wise we were so close to everything at Muri (bus at the end of the drive) but it felt like we had our own private cove, the pool was great especially when the tide was very low in the lagoon. The bedrooms are both large with big closets and ensuites not to mention the stunning view. My only comment to future guests is that with the walls of the bedrooms not going the full length of the room and a considerable gap between the wall and the curtain across the seaward end of the rooms there is little privacy and all can be heard throughout the house - maybe not the best for those seeking a romantic getaway with others in tow.... However for a week long family holiday it was fine. We made great use of the kayaks and snorkeling gear and the kids loved feeding the eels off the bridge each night. We were sad to leave, especially our kids who'd made great friends with Cookie, Scooby and the other dogs who'd become part of the family holiday. Thank you Joy and John for sharing your slice of paradise with us.

It has a lovely pool overlooking Muri Lagoon which was used alot due to the hot weather. Joy and John are such lovely people and make you feel very welcome.
