The only private island, adults only resort in the Cook Islands. It is the only Cook Islands resort to offer that invention of incurable romantics - the Overwater Bungalow. Service was second to none! From when I stepped off the plane to the time I left. Seamless airport pick up, coconut drinks on arrival with a wonderful introduction to the resort before getting zoomed away on the golf cart to my room where my bags where waiting, along with chilled sparkling wine, a fruit platter and air conditioning. The staff where so friendly, caring and genuinely interested in your trip and how you are, making sure they know everyoneby name - Jerry and Violeta thank you so much! Food was simply delicious with an island twist. Cocktails were probably too good! And the dinner entertainment was fantastic. Stayed in an delux beach room. Fantastic! The room was huge, to the point it felt like it was a trip to go to the bathroom! The outdoor shower was so refreshing. The view from the room was unbelievably beautiful. Overall, an amazing and unforgettable stay.

We stayed here for 4 glorious nights in an over water bungalow on the bluest lagoon we have EVER seen. Words and pictures fail to adequately capture the colour of this water. The rooms were great, the resort was entertaining with simple but fun activities, crab collecting and races, fish feeding as well as kayaks and bicycles freely available for relaxed enjoyment. Or, simply slip into the lagoon for as much snorkelling as you like. Island Night was terrific with an island band followed by drum dancers while we dined and enjoyed cocktails. Crossing to the “mainland” was a breeze in the lagoon punt. The food was very reasonably priced for lunch and dinner. Highly recommend a bus tour into “town” and back stopping at a cafe for lunch. The staff….what can we say. They were simply the best. Nothing a problem and always cheerfully delivered. We will be back and it can’t happen soon enough. Ps. Do yourself a favour and book a Vaka Cruise. You won’t find a better lagoon tour in Aitutaki.

Kia Orana, Thank you for taking the time to share such a heartfelt and glowing review of your recent stay at Aitutaki Lagoon Private Island Resort. We are delighted to hear that your experience with us was nothing short of exceptional. It warms our hearts to know that you found our Overwater Bungalows to be a haven and that the beauty of the lagoon exceeded your expectations. We understand the challenge of capturing the true essence of the vibrant blue hues in words and pictures – the Aitutaki Lagoon is indeed a breathtaking sight that needs to be experienced to be fully appreciated. We are pleased to hear that you enjoyed the various activities and amenities we offer, from crab collecting and races to fish feeding, kayaking, and cycling. It's our goal to provide a range of experiences that cater to every guest's preference, and we are thrilled that you took full advantage of these offerings. Your kind words about Island Night are much appreciated, and it's wonderful to know that the island band, drum dancers, and culinary delights left a lasting impression. We look forward to the pleasure of welcoming you back to Aitutaki Lagoon Private Island Resort in the future. I was greeted with a Lei promptly and courteously at the airport and transported by van to the Private Lagoon. Checkin was efficient, and I was quickly in my bungalow. The people working here are very friendly and helpful. The room has plenty of bottled water in a nice size refrigerator. The views everywhere you look lare incredible. I had a delicious fresh tuna dinner. After a great night’s sleep I headed to breakfast. That really was disappointing. The selection and the quality of the breakfast was the worst I have had at any medium or above grade hotel. Frankly I am at the SFO Skyclub now, and their breakfast is much better quality and quantity wise. The fitness center is very small and poorly equipped as well. The bungalow is well equipped with good water pressure and good tv reception. The bed is very comfortable and the room is well lit. They provide plenty of water every day. Snorkeling is superb. The main two reasons to go there are the beautiful scenery and the friendly people. Overall it was a great stay. Plus they were kind enough to honor a previous reservation that had to be canceled due to the pandemic. Not everyplace did that.

This was our favourite place out of the whole of the Cook Islands. We stayed in a over water bungalow as well as the Deluxe Beachfront. From the moment we stepped foot on this paradise we were made to feel welcome, nothing was to much trouble for anyone from management to all the staff, Rotishma we love you and can not thank you enough for everything you did for us. The cocktails were brilliant, the snorkeling, the canoeing was fantastic. Cycling around the Private Island was so much fun. Renovations were being done when we visited so we are looking forward to seeing it now that renovations are finished. In fact we loved it here so much, we have booked to come back in October 2024 for our 21st Wedding Anniversary.

5 stars out of 5 stars. We stayed here in December 2023. Aitutaki Lagoon Private Island Resort we recommend the overwater villas. This resort is set in the most beautiful lagoon we have ever seen. This place has a special magical atmosphere and feeling. The azure blue of the celestial water is absolutely amazing and you can just stare at this lagoon for hours at a time. The crystal clear waters of the Aitutaki Lagoon make it amazing for snorkelling. We stayed in an overwater villa which gives you direct lagoon access from the balcony. After seeing photos of this resort on the internet and booking a holiday, we decided to also get married there. Wow, what can we say but thankyou for providing a special wedding day that we will always remember. We would like to especially thank Joseph Haurua for helping organise our wedding from the celebrant (Stephen Doherty) and paperwork, to the photographer (Reg Potini of Blondie’s Photography), videographer (Mack Marona), flowers, vaka, uto’s, and the fabulous island dancers and fire dancers for our entertainment at dinner. Luke, Mere, Wise and Betty in the Restaurant and Bar, Roneel and Emily at Reception and Mark the Ferry Driver and Vaka/Canoe Paddler. All the staff at this resort are friendly and try their very best to help you have a great holiday. We will be back for another holiday hopefully in a few years. In the meantime, please take care of our coconut trees.

A fantastic stay in the overwater bungalow. Spacious room with air con and comfy bed. Each room comes with 2 bicycles meaning we could use it to cycle to the town. Free pick up and drop off to the airport. This was great as the scooter rental companies were not that helpful. The bungalows are super quiet with no noise and great views. Will stay here again.

We absolutely loved our stay. The villa was great but what made the stay memorable was all the beautiful staff who could not help us enough, smiled constantly and learned all the guest’s names. I would pay extra to have an over the water bungalow next time if I could afford it. Thank you Emily, Jennifer and all the other wonderful people. Lucas and Ross. Australia.

Our stay at Aitutaki Lagoon Private Island Resort was simply magical. The overwater bungalow offered stunning views of the lagoon, creating a dreamy atmosphere. I chose this place to propose to my now-fiancée, and the staff went above and beyond to make our proposal unforgettable. They organized a beautiful candlelit dinner on a private beach with a set-course menu overlooking the sunset. It was truly special. Exploring the lagoon was a delight with complimentary snorkeling gear and kayaks. The cruise to One Foot Island was a highlight, showcasing the beauty of the surroundings. The friendly and attentive staff made our experience truly special. From recommendations to ensuring our needs were met, their hospitality was exceptional. Aitutaki Lagoon Private Island Resort deserves every one of its five stars for making our time in paradise absolutely perfect!

Ok as per previous reviews it is REALLY hard to review this place. Beachfront room was awesome and views stunning. Had bikes at each Bure which was cool BUT….service was ridiculously slow and the meals were VERY average! I love cooking and I could have done better… obviously not chefs but rather cooks. A 4-5 star resort should at least have one trained chef. My hubby isn’t a complainer at all but he did this time which is so unusual! Planned for ages, cost a lot and sooooo disappointed! Not sure why the October reviews were so positive as we’ll never come back. Overrated completely. The pool was filthy with slimy tiles. I did ask a staff member if they could get it cleaned and they agreed it looked terrible…. 3 days later…still filthy! Our 30th wedding anniversary dinner was meant to be a surprise for hubby and even though I’d been emailing for a few months before we arrived, the lady I had been emailing had no idea who we were or why we were here…. That’s just ignorant…. So the surprise was ruined. Made a special holiday so bad. Anniversary dinner: seafood platter all overcooked and deep fried and a brownie that was rock hard and cold! It’s basic to know it should be heated! Soup was great though! The best part about this place was the Fijian staff!! Made us feel at home. Most of the staff have the personality of a grumpy teenager that is only working there for the money… not the love… Such a pity for a resort with absolutely sensational views! It could be a prize winner for sure if it was run correctly! Suggestions for this resort: 1. Put bar leaners at one end of pool area, by restaurant, for people swimming or are just wanting a drink. There is no seating as such. You have to walk between people having their lunch/dinner after swimming… not appropriate really. The set up is weird. Not made for socialising at all but just dining. It could be a nice mix/mingle spot. 2. Change out the menu more, not just one or two items. You should be able to use similar ingredients to create a different dish…a chef would…use your imagination. I suggested that they look at our local restaurant in NZ for inspiration maybe? 3. Sashimi and/or sushi on the menu would be superb! Easy to prepare and such a fresh dish. A few more salads would be good, with nice fresh fruit mixed in and seafood. We never saw the beetroot/egg salad that Cook Islands are known for? That’s what tourists want….local food. 4. The dessert was the same every night and apart from fresh fruit the other two had coconut in them… pity if you don’t like coconut. 5. Get another speaker for music! You only have one? That’s crazy. Tourists want to hear local music. And also some of your live music is atrocious! 15th Nov in particular. Our local busker at the shops in NZ is better than the singer. We left our dinner he was that bad. Pay the money and get a proper band! 6. Get a better wine list. Tonight we had a terrible Rose that was more like a Chardonnay and then found out that Roaring Meg was available but not on the wine list? Why! When the Roaring Meg wine range is fabulous! This resort could be outstanding with a few tweaks. It about a 3 star at the moment but could be so much better! It’s such a pity that we’ve decided to never come back because there are far better places in Aitutaki to spend your hard earned dollars. Nothing worse than a huge disappointment right? The owners need to spend the money to make it better and stop being greedy! You’re trying to run a 5 star resort on a 2 star budget. Get more professional! Let’s just say this’ll be our last trip to Raro. Been 4 times and each time something has gone wrong…. anyway we’ve finally got the message! 🤣 never again 😳 thanks but no thanks Raro! Fiji all the way!!

Please accept our apologies for any inconvenience caused during your 30th wedding anniversary celebration; we understand the significance of such occasions and regret that it did not meet your expectations. Your suggestions are invaluable to us, and we appreciate your constructive feedback on various aspects of our resort. We will certainly review and consider each point, including the speed of service, menu variety, and the need for additional seating options around the pool. Your insights on the music selection and live performances are noted, and we will work towards enhancing the overall guest experience in these areas. We genuinely appreciate your positive comments about our Fijian staff, and we will ensure that they receive the recognition they deserve for making you feel at home. We understand your decision not to return to our resort, and we respect your perspective. Thank you once again for sharing your feedback with us. Kia Manuia, Greg Long, General Manager
