This place exceeded our expectations – the water views were absolutely stunning, with the vibrant color of the water just as beautiful as the pictures. We stayed in the standard Beach Bungalow, which was closer to the water and felt much more private than some of the premium lagoon-view options. The included breakfast was simple (which seems typical for the Pacific), and while the restaurant menu was good, the dishes weren’t always prepared as well as we hoped (similar to places like Fiji). We ended up dining out more often, as the local food quality was better.

Having bikes, water sports equipment, and snorkelling gear included in the bungalow was a great touch, and everything was well-maintained. One of the resort pools could use some maintenance, but the second pool was open, although we didn’t see anyone using it, given the lagoon’s location. Overall, it was a wonderful experience with staff who clearly cared about the guests. It was really hot, so make sure to pack light clothing, hats, and plenty of sunscreen!

We visited this resort to celebrate our wedding anniversary. It was absolute heaven!! It is definitely the most beautiful lagoon, and the Aitutaki Lagoon Private Island Resort is in the best location to see it all! The resort is stunning, and so relaxed. Our bungalow was overwater, and the view was breathtaking! Everything we needed was privided, from fresh towels and linens daily, to the refrigerator and coffee maker, an ironing board and hair dryer. Our housekeeper put fresh flowers all around the room daily! It was magical! And the food is outstanding! They even have room service, which we used several times. The staff are all so friendly, and definitely have hearts for service. They made our stay so enjoyable, and are now considered friends! We saw turtles swimming past our bungalow, and many varieties of tropical fish just steps out our door. Each bungalow is equipped with bicycles, a kayak, paddle board, and snorkel gear, along with water hammocks, and we used all of it! We saw the most beautiful sunrises and sunsets! We absolutely fell in love with Aitutaki Lagoon Private Island Resort, and are already planning our return trip! We've definitely found the one place we want to come back to, again and again!!

I am writing this review as I am sitting in the resort lobby with a cocktail while we are waiting for our transport to collect us to take us to the airport.

Our honeymoon at the Aitutaki Private Lagoon Resort was absolutely perfect. The views were unmatched - crystal clear water, soft white sand, and the most incredible lagoon we’ve ever seen. It felt like we had stepped into a postcard.

The staff were beyond helpful, always friendly and ready to assist with anything we needed. Their hospitality made our stay feel effortless and so special.

We loved how many activities were available, from snorkelling and paddleboarding to simply floating in the warm, clear water. There was always something to do, but the resort still felt peaceful and private. The fact that it’s adults only made it even better - exactly what we wanted for our honeymoon.

If you’re looking for a luxurious, relaxing escape in the Cook Islands, Aitutaki Private Lagoon Resort is unbeatable. We wouldn’t change a thing and already wish we could stay longer!

My husband and I stayed here for 5 nights in a Deluxe Beachfront bungalow. This is our 6th visit to this resort. Our first was in 2004. And our last was in 2018.
We were pleasantly surprised by the resorts fairly recent renovations. They have surely raised its level of excellence in our eyes. All of the staff were attentive, professional and very friendly. The foyer is also expansive and very welcoming. The gardens ,pools, cabanas and restaurant areas were all lovely and the performance space was much improved. It’s also good that each bungalow has its own kayaks, paddle boards and bicycles. The outdoor showers are super to use and very spacious in our particular bungalow. The breakfast has a wonderful selection of foods ranging from cereals and fruits to hot cooked options as well. I loved the different flavoured pancakes each day and French toast options!
We saw that improvements are still being undertaken but did not detract from our experience. The views are unsurpassed from the Overwater, Deluxe Beachfront and Premium bungalows. The water is delightful to swim in and coral shoes are provided if you don’t wish to bring your own. We enjoyed dining at the resort but there are other options on the main island if you wish. The decor in the bungalows is traditional island style ..rustic but appropriate for the experience. If you are after an authentic island experience with the most amazing views this resort is surely for you! If we were comparing to Bora Bora …Aitutaki would get our vote every time. We hope to make it back for a 7th visit sometime in the future. Until then keep up with the improvements! The standard continues to rise!
Thank you for such an incredible experience!

Service was second to none! From when I stepped off the plane to the time I left. Seamless airport pick up, coconut drinks on arrival with a wonderful introduction to the resort before getting zoomed away on the golf cart to my room where my bags where waiting, along with chilled sparkling wine, a fruit platter and air conditioning.

The staff where so friendly, caring and genuinely interested in your trip and how you are, making sure they know everyoneby name - Jerry and Violeta thank you so much!

Food was simply delicious with an island twist. Cocktails were probably too good! And the dinner entertainment was fantastic.

Stayed in an delux beach room. Fantastic! The room was huge, to the point it felt like it was a trip to go to the bathroom! The outdoor shower was so refreshing. The view from the room was unbelievably beautiful.

Overall, an amazing and unforgettable stay.

This place is heaven on earth. By far the best resort on the island (we checked them all out)

The facilities are excellent, each room has their own push bikes to ride around the private island and you can take them onto the ferry and check out the island. You also have your own kayaks, stand up paddle boards and snorkel gear all at your room.

The service is fantastic at the restaurant, pool, bar and the rooms.
The staff are amazing, so friendly kind and welcoming.
They looked after us so well, especially Luke, Mati, Kay, Mere, Locy, Terri and the masseuse Mary.

The activities at the resort are great especially the hermit crab races 🐚
and the food is yum with buffet breakfast included with your stay.

What an awesome experience, we will definitely be coming back.

On this occasion pictures matched reality with perfect blue sky and stunning water views. Is the resort itself 5 stars no, but it was definitely a 5 star experience. Stayed in the standard Beach Bungalow, which was closer to the water and felt more private then some of the premium options with lagoon views. Included full breakfast was more than expected, and the restaurant menu had sufficient variety each day. Included bikes, water sports crafts and snorkelling equipment in your bungalow was a plus and equipment was well maintained. Spa therapist gave an excellent treatment. One of the resort pools needs some maintenance, however the second pool had superior views and was in great condition. Overall a great experience with staff who clearly cared about the guests. Pack plenty of sunscreen and protective clothes the UV is intense.

This was a combination wedding/honeymoon and birthday trip. This was the best trip we’ve been on together. The staff made us feel extremely welcome and they were all kind and courteous to a fault. The place is beautiful and beautifully maintained. The lagoon is like nothing I’ve ever experienced before. We stayed in the over water bungalows and the water was warm, clear and inviting. The food at the resort was quite good. The staff were very helpful in securing dinner reservations outside of the resort and arranged for transfers (taxi’s). Other than the “kissed by God” location, The staff is really what makes this place. Wi-Fi is available at a cost but you’ll burn though it fast unless you pace yourself. You can get a SIM card from town but you’ll burn through that as well until you realize you should limit your internet usage and enjoy paradise.

We had massages on site and our masseuse was excellent.

Roneel, Sarah, Jennifer and all the other staff were amazing.

10/10

We spent 7 nights in a Premium Bungalow (spacious, quiet and relaxing, little extra for showering 👌)
Perfectly located in front of the lagoon, we just had to get up, open our bay and take 3 steps to reach the fish.
Hearty breakfasts (salty and sweet) lunch and evening meals all tested and all excellent.
Super clean complex, daily animation (we participated in the crab race, traditional dish making Rourou, opening a coconut, learning Akarere, fire dance, tonight Maori dancers with live musicians and singers 😍, etc...)
The staff very present and the little care always attentive.
A big THANK YOU to Ili, Mere, Rawinia, Wise, Luke, Jerry, Chef Angele and I forget: all great reception, Captains Bond and Paul crossings, animation and room services.
We practiced (included) CAYAC paddle snorkeling really breathtaking. Thank you 🤩

This resort is incredible~the location is unique in that it is on its own little island. It has a small ferry that operates all day so if you want to go across to the ‘main island’ you can go any time. We stayed in the Premium Bungalows and had the most gorgeous views out our windows of the beach and all the palm trees- the front is all glass with a slider. There are many extras that are included for your enjoyment: kayaks, paddle boards, hammocks, loungers, bikes, and water sox, which you need because the beach is actually not sand, it’s coral. But that should not discourage anyone from staying here. The food in the restaurant is very good, the service is top notch and the staff is exceptional. I want to give a special shout out to our servers who took such great care of us the entire time~Rawi, Nosi, Teri, Mere, Luke, Maria, and especially chef Anil, who made us a special meal for our last night. It was amazing! And I have to give special appreciation to Pati, the coordinator; she greets each guest with a smile and a beautiful lei and keeps up her friendly spirit every day. She was wonderful. Another added treat was the native local dancers come to the resort twice a week and perform a medley of dances and tribal songs after dinner.
All in all this resort is gorgeous, the grounds are kept clean and the beach is quiet and peaceful and is everything a tropical paradise should be.
