If you found this review to be informative and helpful, please kindly note as it will help us better focus our future review efforts! Tai Marino Bungalows is a lovely property and little slice of paradise offered by the wonderful hosts Vaea and Ki’i. We’ve visited Aitutaki three times before but this time around, decided to stay for several days. We found Rarotonga to be laid back, but unsurprisingly Aitutaki is even *more* laid back! When scoping out places to stay in Aitutaki, we were torn between staying at a resort among other travellers, or finding our own little place. We were super fortunate to have found this place randomly from searching online. For cost-savvy travellers, it is encouraged to book directly on their site for better rates. We elected to do the day tour, as well as rent a scooter during our stay, and Vaea was super pleasant in our initial email exchanges. I could already feel the good vibes! Upon arrival, we were greeted by Vaea with the most beautiful and lovely smelling leis we’ve ever seen. She was kind enough to take us to a nearby grocer for supplies and gave us an orientation and brief tour. Upon our arrival, the scooter was ready to go – a great option to consider so you can really explore the island. The property has canoes, outdoor chairs and dining, a shower to wash off after snorkelling, and hammock to relax. The bungalow itself is recently built, a nice cozy size with all amenities carefully thought out and organized. The “welcome basket” of fruits and breakfast supplies was superb and very much appreciated. The air conditioning unit also kept up during our stay, which made the bungalow a nice cool welcome reprieve from the warm summer weather. It truly felt like an all-in-one experience. The lagoon cruise day tour was unique and far exceeds what we previously experienced with the day cruise (which itself is already a top-notch experience even after three times). Ki’i is such a friendly, down-to-earth person. My partner experiences motion sickness but even with the little boat, it was not a problem as the water was calmer and excellent navigation. We went to snorkelling spots never previously seen on other tours, saw turtles for the first time, and were even greeted by a Giant Trevally cohort after patiently waiting for them. We saw One Foot Island before the big tours, and the experience was so much nicer than being among a ton of people. We had a nice little private casual lunch on One Foot Island in a small secluded place space. And for the first time, we visited Honeymoon Island, which itself had its own uniqueness and beauty to it. We are super spoiled now and would not do the Aitutaki lagoon tour any other way! Vaea was always available with any inquiries and she called us the day before our departure to confirm time for pickup. When it was time for us to finally leave, Ki’i was on time for our short drive to the airport. In a place where no one wears seat belts while driving and everyone scoots around with a helmet, you know it can claim to be really truly laid back! I hesitate to write a review for a property this outstanding as I want really hard to keep it a secret. But our experience was top-notch from start to finish and it deserves recognition. It’s no surprise that this property has consistently high ratings throughout. If you want to spend more money to be pompously pampered and be with the crowds, then certainly check out the other resorts. However, if you want to experience the simple tranquility of paradise where you can by cozy and really wind down in peace with outstanding professional hosts, then the Tai Marino bungalows come highly recommended. Again, please indicate if you found this review to be helpful as it would be greatly appreciated!

Property's Favourite Review
We really loved our stay at Tai Marino Bungalow No.2. Right from the start the communication was great and throughout our stay the owners were extremely helpful and friendly. The bungalow was clean and functional with a beautiful view of the lagoon. We didn't need the air conditioning as there are insect screens throughout so we opened everything and enjoyed the lovely breeze. The bed was very comfortable and there was plenty of hot water, a good size fridge and a small gas cooktop. From the verandah it is only a few metres to the lagoon where there is a deep channel for swimming. The snorkeling was not the best directly out the front, but only 100m up the beach was great snorkeling with plenty of fish, some nice patches of coral and a few beautiful clams. We were glad we rented a car because it was a bit rainy during our stay so we could go out and enjoy some nice meals and have a look around in comfort. There is a fantastic view of the lagoon from the nearby phone tower. The track to the top has one very steep section but otherwise is not too hard. We did a lagoon tour with Kia Orana. Our skipper was Saun (Captain Useless) and he was very good, not useless at all !! The wind was quite strong so the snorkeling was a bit choppy but still awesome to swim with the GTs. The white boat skipperd by Saun had excellent access on and off even in the bumpy conditions so we would definately recommend going with him. We stayed for four nights at Tai Marino and could have done another one or two as we had two days of rain. If you want a quiet beachside getaway then Tai Marino is perfect!

We could not stay in the bungalows because they were fully booked, but Kii took us out on their private lagoon cruise. A fantastic day out! Swimming, snorkelling around reefs, swimming with Trevallys(very large fish!), visits to unpopulated islands. Kii is the perfect tour guide(and a very nice man), very knowledgeable and nothing was too much trouble. Just the two of us on his motor launch…a far cry from sitting with hordes of others🙂 Oh…and lunch is included in a secluded spot away from everyone 🙂 Thank you Kii …and Vaea for lunch🙂 Kate and Joe

We had a lovely, relaxing 5 night stay at Tai Marino. Vaea met us at the airport and took us on a quick orientation of the island with a visit to local supermarket to stock up with supplies. Property was very comfortable with a well stocked kitchenette, A/C, lovely balcony overlooking the ocean and kayaks. Easy walk to several eateries including Tamanu which was 10 mins up the beach. Highlight of our trip was our day out with Kii on the lagoon, he knew the best spots to snorkel and avoided all the bigger boats so felt like we had the lagoon to ourselves. Hired the scooter which was a great way to get around the island. Highly recommend this property, Vaea and Kii do a wonderful job to ensure you have the best holiday.

My dream of visiting Aitutaki has finally came true! The island, the lagoon, Tai Marino and our hosts Vaea & Kii all exceeded our expectations. I knew I was in good hands when I unexpectedly received a telephone call (in Canada) from Vaea when she could see, from her end, that I was having some issues with the online booking. Wow ~ I was impressed! The pick up at the airport, orientation, welcome leis, fruit bowl and scooter waiting at the bungalow were all such wonderful bonuses. We loved our bungalow, loved the view, loved exploring the back roads on our scooter and loved the food & fruit smoothies @ Avatea Cafe. Even though we were going back to spend more time on Raro, 7 days wasn't long enough at Tai Marino and it was so difficult to saw goodbye to this island paradise. The highlight of our entire visit to the Cook Islands was Kii's private lagoon cruise ~ absolutely incredible ~ memories to last a lifetime. Thank you so very much Vaea & Kii for everything you do ~ you're the best! I look forward to visiting again someday.

We spent two nights in Tai Marino and two nights in Tai Inu hosted by Vaea and Kii. We will be forever grateful to them for adding an extra level of fabulous to our holiday in Aitutaki. Both bungalows were perfect. Beds are big and comfy, spacious balconies and everything is new and spotless. Tai Marino has ocean views and Tai Inu is one property back from the beach. Vaea is so kind and thoughtful. She picked us up from the airport and took a couple of hours to show us around the island and wait while we shopped for supplies. We felt welcome! Vaea had organised a scooter hire for us which we recommend as a fun, speedy way to get around. And best of all she had arranged a lagoon tour for us with her dear husband Kii on his little orange boat. Kii waited patiently for us while we snorkeled for hours in the paradise that is the Aitutaki Lagoon. We fell in love with the place and the people who looked after us. We can't wait to visit again.

Most relaxing place in the world, Kii and Vaea are truely beautiful people and are the best hosts. The bungalows are new, clean, have aircon, right on your own private beach, self contained and just beautiful. Snorkel straight out the front or for the ultimate book Kii to take you on a private lagoon cruise the best day out on the lagoon. Fabulous. I can not recommend this place enough.

an hour ago on Google We spent 6 nights at the beautiful Tai Marino Bungalow 2 on the stunning island of Aitutaki. Wished we could have stayed 6 weeks! The place is perfect for a couple - its modern with bathroom and kitchen, air conditioning, great deck… and is right on the beach with a kayak, sun-loungers and a hammock. Vaea and Kii are such excellent hosts - warm, friendly and helpful. We did the unforgettable lagoon cruise with Kii, and were able to buy some freshly caught tuna - a real treat. Vaea took us on an orientation trip when she picked us up and this was incredibly useful for knowing where to get what. We swam, snorkled, walked, and blatted around on a scooter having the most relaxing tine. (The Avatea cafe is great by the way!) Would go back to Tai Marino again in a heartbeat.

If you ever dreamt of a perfect tropical paradise then this is it. Friendliest hosts, ever (but not in your face) they sort out everything, pick you up, get you a scooter. It’s a beautiful setting in a lush garden, lovely views, metres from great swimming/ snorkeling. Aitutaki is fabulous . Can’t recommend highly enough .

If you are planning a trip to The Cook Island you can’t miss out on visiting, Aitutaki, and staying at a beautiful Tai Marino Bungalow, not just for the day but for a few days or longer. Aitutaki really has the best beaches in the world, with soft white sand and a reef lagoon in every shade of blue and green water. We stayed at Tai Marino Bungalows which means “calm seas” and well named because it is located on the lee side of this island. Upon arrival at the airport, we were greeted with a beautiful ei of flowers by one of our hosts, Kii. He drove us to our bungalow where we met Vaea. She gave us a great tour of the island town, so we could pick up some groceries and obtain a motor scooter licence for the scooters (we had booked previously through Vaea), via a visit to the Police Station. We stayed three wonderful nights, our days were filled with climbing Maungapu which has amazing lagoon views (the highest point on the island), riding our scooters around the entire island, a private boat trip with Kii to remote islands including One Foot Island and Honeymoon Island and more. We also stopped at some amazing locations only a local would know for snorkelling to view huge, colourful fish, giant clams (hundreds of them) and swimming with a turtle in sparkling, turquoise water. You will love your stay relaxing at Tai Marino Bungalows.
