Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Best deal for your buck! The new owners are friendly, the place is very clean and located just high enough in the mountain so the view is magnificent!

A fare is not a hotel so it has this homy feeling, the owners are easy to talk to if you want to learn about what it's like to live on the island.

Erick's kayak excursion got us to swim with sting rays and see colorful fish in the lagoon. He leaves early in the morning to make sure we get the best of the lagoon. All the big excursion boats were coming in as we were leaving.
I am travelling with a friend who knows the area, she had already stayed here before. We would book our dinner and leave early to tour the island, we would return late afternoon, enjoy the pool, relax and enjoy a great meal prepared by Carole.
This place is a great find!!
We are returning in February!!

Great location, great view!!
Good to connect with people, other travelers while sharing outdoor kitchen.
Lovely owners.
You need to rent a car or ask the owner for scooter.
15 minutes to a beach located by hotel with scuba and kayaking. 20 minutes to a public beach.
And shopping available near by.

I’ve been in Fare Arana for almost 12 days and I have to say it was one of the best time I had in Moorea thanks to Carol and Eric who are always here to please you!
The rooms and Fare are brand new fully furnished with air conditioning lovely balconies and beautiful swimming pool! Carol will always delight you with local special food and Eric will advise you on the best activity’s to take on the island!

I booked a room with this hotel. They sent an email through the website I booked with to email them and confirm the room with a deposit as it was pay later. I emailed them multiple times at the email that they provided. Then I tried a different email and they said I didn’t answer their calls (they never called me) so they had rented my room to someone else, so they could either stick me in a shared dorm room or I could make another booking at a higher price.

This property is currently listed as a three-star hotel, when it is actually a hostel. Additionally, the claimed amenities are misrepresented.

- Rooms contain a bed, two nightstands, and a place to hang clothes. That's it. No TV, no fridge, no coffeemaker, not even a table and chair. Much less a kitchenette. (All of these, as of this writing, are advertised as room amenities.)
- Bathrooms are outside along an unlit path. I had to use a flashlight at night.
- Wifi is only available at a communal dining area with half a dozen chairs.
- "Laundry facilities" is asking the owners to do it for $15/kg.
- The "restaurant" is pre-arranging breakfast or dinner with the owners. You can't just show up and order something. There is no bar or anything resembling a bar even if you squint a lot, that's just a lie.

On the bright side, the pool does exist, and the rooms are air conditioned. (But the air conditioner turns off when you leave, so it will be good and hot when you get back. This is a good time to take a shower while it cools off.)

Finally, I'll add that this property is on the opposite side of the island from any activity you will want to do or restaurant you will want to eat at. It's only close in the sense that Moorea is not large (60 minutes to drive around it), but Fare Arana is still 20-30 minutes from anything.

Eric and Carol were warm and welcoming when we needed to find a last minute alternative sleeping arrangement for the night when we were left high and dry by our reserved Fare. We arrived at the office as typical Americans - we do not speak French, which is a bit of a handicap in Moorea. Eric did speak enough English to have a conversation and provide us with information. He was most gracious. He and Carol had only owned the place for 3-4 months when we were there.

The air conditioned room looked newly done, clean with large glass sliding doors opening to a balcony and an amazing view. Each room had a large, clean, private bathroom, but it was in the building next door (there is a light outside the door to your room which lights up the walkway if you have to go out at night, same with the light at the building next door so you never are in the dark).

The property is nicely kept, with the breakfast (additional cost) area set up next to the pool. Like many of the Fare's on the mountain side, the road at the beginning is dirt with its share of ruts and it is a little steep but manageable even with our little rented Fiat. We didn't use the kitchen area, but it looked ok in passing.

For those traveling to Moorea in general, I think you need to have a car to get around. Fare Arana was the closest place to the Ferry where we stayed.

No Wifi in rooms. No front desk. Owners were not helpful. Location is too far away
at opposite end of island /no transportation, restaurants, shops. Must rent a car or taxi $35 each way. Isolated and not a convenient place.

The owners, Nelly and Francois were so welcoming and eager to ensure that our stay was both comfortable and enjoyable. They offered a host of different activities that could be undertaken onsite and offsite too where they made arrangements for us to be picked up for the Jetski safari in the opposite side of the island. We also went on Francois' inland safari which was a great way to see the inside of the island, visiting pineapple plantations, the volcano plug and "magic mountain" for great views across the bays. Highly recommended.

We had a great stay at Fare Arana. The bungalow has been remodeled recently so the shower is brand new. The infinity pool and the pool furniture are perfect for sunbathing and we enjoyed swimming while admiring the seaside. We ordered sashimi and raw coconut fish, and they were fresh and delicious.

-No front desk
-No Wifi in rooms
-Transfer to the ferry will cost you about 20 US-Dollar which is a lot. The worst thing about was that the owner has not told me that the transfer will cost something.
-Not really clean
-A few kitchen utensils had fungus. It was very disgusting
-Conclusion: Unfriendly staff, not clean, bad service
