Detailed Reviews
Since my first review, I have visited the Del Ray several times. I now issue a warning. Most of the girls have developed into ripoff artists. Even my old standbys (highly professional woman supporting families) have said so. The current attitude and play is for the girls to make endless promises at reasonable prices and then forget about all that when they get to your room and then bail because they want more money to even stay! So pick your lady very carefully! In the bar their sales pitch is fun and entertaining. However,
if she is very beautiful and to good to be true - she is! You will be ripped off. There are still great honest hard working ladies there, but it’s always a coin toss. The best ones are the part timers looking for extra income to support families. Regardless, the place is still really safe, excellent security, clean rooms, great air conditioning and very reasonable room prices if you book directly with motel - not (any)web booking service. If you feel totally ripped off for the services provided, you should call security. I did. I still give the place 4 stars because it just a riot to be surrounded by beautiful woman that want to get you naked. Just know there is no way you won’t get ripped off sooner than later.

not a bad location. a bit dated.
6th floor balcony rooms are quite nice, interior rooms not so much.
beds were comfortable, shower had good water temp but water pressure was inconsistent. hotel was clean as was the room. staff were helpful.
no bar or casino, both appear to have closed a few years back.
music is played loudly in the lobby until about 1230-1am which reaches a lot of the hotel rooms.
not enough electric plugs (or any usb plugs). needed to unplug room phone or clock to charge phone, ipad, etc.
food was not bad and priced well.
not a bad place to stay but there are probably better for the same price. If you like having a balcony that you can walk out on to and have fresh air in your room i would recommend.
AC and fan worked well with out too much noise

Everyone is very friendly from the front desk to the security to the local girls. However, know the currency exchange! The first time I went there I was unsure and I was told by a local girl that the bartendress at The Blue Marlin charged me double of what my tab was. Pay with local cash and do not run a tab. Pay as you go.
Other thanthat...have a ball!

I would stay here again. Clean and very good value. Staff was very helpful and the location was close to many restaurants and the beach was not far at all. I plan to go back in a few months and will book here again.

Great location. Casino and the Casinos really close to hotel are mainly slots. About a three min walk there is a good one. Close to everything. I booked it without knowing anything about it. I heard it used to be mainly for "adults". ROoms were clean and well kept. Safe, and very quiet. There were a few "locals" hanging out downstairs, but they were discreet and left folks alone (generally). Concierge was attentive, arranged airport transport, and also helped with copies of docs. Beautiful hotel, great location.

Had a very unique experience. The staff was very helpful. Sara the event planner was incredible. She arranged two outings for me. The first was to the volcano Poás and then to flower garden and zoo filled with local animals. The second was to Arenal volcano and hot springs. The people who were approving the purchase online were too slow that she was going to have to stay overtime to complete the transaction. Not only did she complete the transaction after her shift. She also met me at the restaurant. Give me the details. Unfortunately the first trip I sprained my ankle badly and had to rely on Oscar to get me ice go to the pharmacy if needed and be my general helper to get better. The hotel had a very nice rock concert on Friday night, but in general it is empty as is the bar and casino. Unfortunately, there are no more chicas or ladies to draw customers.

We all had a tremendous time there. Spacious rooms, big comfortable beds and the BMB and restaurant were great. And the service was second to none. The casino was hopping with locals and visitors alike. Just make sure to drink and brush with bottled water!

+1
Almost two years ago, the Del Rey closed its famous doors due to non payment of taxes, incompetent management, and CV19 mandates. It was a sad day for all those of us who came to the Del Rey for companionship. However a recent trip to San Jose found the doors open, the yellow CERRADO tape on the doors and windows gone, and the hotel under new management. This includes the Del Mar restaurant across the street. Although at the time of my visit, the hotel was not accepting guests, a skeleton crew manned the Blue Marlin Bar and preparations were being made for a full opening the following week. Those of us who were frequent visitors can live again!

Hotel has changed ownership. Now no women allowed like before.
Bar and hotel are empty.
Former owner died recently and this hotel has just died along with it
It's a ghost town.
Rooms still old .
TV gets just HBO in English no other English channels.
I was here 6 months ago had a great time but the fun is over as of 10 days ago
Avoid.
