Hotel La Diosa is located on the Caribbean coast of Costa Rica. We are located 2 km north of Cahuita. Cahuita is a small village with a lot of mixture of different cultures. Our hotel is located in front of the ocean. We have 4 rooms on one side of the hotel and on the other side 3 duplex bungalows. Breakfast buffet is included with our rates. We have a swimming pool and offer free wifi at our palapa. This is the perfect place if you would like to discover the beauty and charm of the Caribbean, staying in a relaxed and peaceful place. There is a restaurant across the street from the hotel.

A wonderful comfortable bed and an enormous bedroom.....with a strangely huge jacuzzi in it. The bathroom was ok, but needed some TLC, not quite sparkly clean, and very old fittings. The grounds are beautiful - a fantastic pool and lots of wildlife to nose around, including a couple of resident sloths.

The minor negatives were that the breakfast was bad (the owners don’t provide directly, they buy it in and charge on top of the room rate, the coffee was in drinkable) and the location is a little remote if you don’t have a car. It’s 30-40 minutes walk from Cahuita town which is pleasant during the day but not so good in the evening.

This is a nice little beach view hotel. Our 2 bedroom cabina was clean and comfortable. The evenings by the pool are relaxing. One small issue with room was handled efficiently to our satisfaction. Close to several local activities but you will need a car as there is little within walking distance.

Stayed there for a couple of nights and everything was great, pool, room, bathroom etc.
Just very unfortunate they don't serve breakfast. Also be aware of the road and consider the taxes and fees added to your bill because are not included,so don't be surprised if the price they told you is not the one you end it up paying.
Over all,good place to stay.

Dated facility barely kept running. Thin walls made normal activity next door an issue if sleeping. Breakfast not free. Safety is questionable as the gates are never locked. No on site security. No safe in room. Door locks are easily defeated with a credit card. Everything is falling apart. Reminds me of a 70's kids camp. I paid $35 @ night, and felt that was a bit high for the property. Only stay here if you cannot afford better. AC did work, but the minute you leave the property, they come into your room and shut it off. They did this every day.

The waterfront areas are pretty, the bed was comfortable, and there's abundant wildlife. The pool is nice. The restaurant across the street, which is not associated with the hotel, is good. Cahuita is a nice town that seems to have good dining options.

Maybe there are some nicer rooms, or maybe it was much nicer several years ago? The room I was in needed a lot of repairs and better cleaning.

The staff, the grounds and the pool are all excellent. The wildlife in the grounds is varied and interesting.

The cabana we had was not very good. It was advertised as having a hot tub/ jacuzzi. It did, but there was no plug and a merry dribble of usually tepid hot water. We were there for 5 nights and the bed linen was not changed during that time.

It is a shame that I can only rate the place average but the accommodation deserves no more.

It is a place with a good natural garden, but rooms are not well cleaned! The Jacuzzi’s Room has a not so good worker jacuzzi... The owner seems not so much interested into guests. You don’t feel so good welcome.

Have been staying at la Diosa with my wife and daughter now 6 since 2011 and we love it..it really is a hidden gem and right on the beach. We always stay in the cabins which have either two or three bedrooms and a shower room with toilet. All have porches and the setting is divine a lovely garden, wonderful pool and a lovely breakfasy area with good wifi connections .hammocks books and games. It is a 30 minute walk into Cahuita down a sandy lane or 5/10 min drive..but directly opposite diosa is a small BB which does nice food and a 5 min walk away is an nice Italian. Cahuita is a lovely town, lots of small restaurants and the national park is great and free entry. If you have car it is a 20 min drive to Puerto Viejo which is more lively think young backpackers, massage, organic food and weed!...but we always like coming back to peace and traquility of Diosa. We have had friends and family from 18 to 60 stay there with us and all have loved it. agreat place to unwind and to enjoy the Caribbean coast

This unprofessional money hungry owner, cancelled our reservation days before our departure, to accommodate a bigger group although we had made reservations months before. Did not care of previous arrangements, "business is business" is what we were told.

This hotel (English translation: The Goddess Hotel) is a very good value. I paid $75 for a single. The hotel also offers bungalows with more than one room and spa tubs in some rooms. You can check out the property in a video on the hotel web site, but the narration by the owner is in Spanish.

The rooms are very attractive and exceptionally clean, although the tile looks somewhat dated. Each has a terrace area and a hammock. Although the terrace is partly separated from other rooms by a partial wall, there is not much privacy. The terrace has a table and chairs.

The owners are a friendly Italian couple who speak excellent Spanish, English and perhaps other languages. There is one other staff member who speaks English, and she is quite friendly. The other staff do not speak English and, even when spoken to in Spanish, were not as warm. The staff of about six maintains the property in excellent condition.

The hotel has a fairly large, clean free form fresh water swimming pool. The hotel is about 50 meters or so from the beach. Its section is separated from the rest of the long beach by rock outcroppings. Although the beaches in Costa Rica are all open to the public, this is as close as one gets to a private beach. The rocks mean that the beach is not swimmable at high tide, but you can swim during low tide. The beach includes a stretch of dark sand for tanning or lounging, although the area shrinks considerably during high tide.

The hotel serves breakfast (included), but not until 8 a.m. Breakfast includes eggs, bread, fruit, juice and coffee. The hotel also offers WiFi Internet service. There are no phones in the rooms. Some rooms have window unit air conditioners. Air conditioning is strongly recommended during the warm months if you will be in your room during the day.

On the hotel grounds, we saw agoutis (small animals related to the guinea pig), a kinkajou (a nocturnal mammal related to the raccoon), and exotic birds. The landscaping is very lush.

The hotel has less security than is customary in Costa Rica. The vehicle gate was not closed at night. The rooms have cylinder locks, not the preferable deadbolts. But the area seemed safe and a giant dog (at least 65 kilos) was on patrol. He never bothered us, but he barked at the kinkajou.

The hotel is in an extremely quiet location, but it is at least one kilometer from the town of Cahuita via an unpaved road. There are at least two restaurants and a tiny grocery within walking distance, and much more in Cahuita.

Cahuita has a wide choice of restaurants, bars, groceries, tour companies and curio shops. Both the town and its beach are far superior to Puerto Viejo, which is just 12 kilometers to the south. Only the night life of Puerto Viejo seemed superior, but there was live reggae music in Cahuita.

The star attraction of the area is the Cahuita National Park. This park has wonderful beaches and the promise of spotting wildlife, including monkeys.

The park's boundary extends right to the town of Cahuita. If you enter the park in the town of Cahuita, there is no entrance fee, but you are invited to make a donation. The beach near this entrance has bathrooms and showers. Glass bottles are prohibited.

The best swimming beach, one with perpetually calm waters protected by an offshore reef, is far from this entrance, however. Although you can walk a trail to this beach from the Cahuita entrance, it is a 12 kilometer hike and you are better served driving to the other entrance and paying a mandatory park admission fee. I was also told that a bus runs between Cahuita and the other entrance. Depending on tides, the beaches near the town entrance have only small waves. At times, however, there are rip currents and warning signs are posted.

You can reach the reef for snorkeling via either entrance, although the paid entrance is closer. You can also pay for a boat ride to the reef and for rental snorkeling gear. Inquire outside the Cahuita entrance.

The national park simply should not be missed. Hotel La Diosa is an excellent choice for either a base to explore the park or a relaxing stay.

I would say no, we had a car and it was probably a 5-10 minute drive into town where you can access the National Park. I could be wrong and there may be a way, but it would be a fairly long walk.
