We stayed at Cuidad Perdida on a wildlife tour with Exodus. It's a lovely location, just a short walk to the entrance to Cahuita National Park and some of the wildlife reaches the grounds. The rooms are attractive paired bungalows spaced around the grounds. Very comfortable. It's a short walk into Cahuita, so the hotel is quiet at night. Lots of restaurants, bars and shops within easy walking distance. Bring a beach towel and a small torch (optional).

We stayed here as part of an Exodus Tour, Costa Rica’s Coastal Secrets. The Lodge consists of two, separate sets of cabin type bungalows with a central building used for breakfast. It is situated on a back road which is relatively traffic free and would be quiet if it weren’t for the resident howler monkeys and other wildlife. Our cabin was well sized with 3 beds but others seemed to have smaller ones and not related to number staying.
It is well situated, only a short walk into the Cahuita Main Street with its bars and restaurants and then to both Playa Blanca and Negra beaches. Breakfast is pre ordered by filling in a form and we didn’t have any problems with quantity as staff were happy to provide more drinks or food.
All in all, a charming, well run place.

The staff wasn’t welcoming when we arrived. There was nobody at the check in time at the front desk to assist us and we had to pretty much drag their attention to receive help.
There was a problem with the water availability to take a shower the day after check in during the hottest time of the day. They had to use a tank to provide water afterwards. Apparently the place has this issue when it’s fully booked…
The breakfast did not options to choose from and the size was not enough for an adult. There was no refill for at least coffee and they serve it so it is not buffet.
Regarding the cabins, you can hear all conversations from your neighbors next door so that makes it very uncomfortable at night. The parking spaces are not well signalized so you can park one day in front of your cabin and the next day others can take up your spot and you have to park somewhere far from your cabin (first come first serve).
We did not like our neighbors and wanted to change cabin and they had nothing available to make it happen so the place is too small.
The pillows were quite uncomfortable and also the beds and sheets, not breathable and very rough.
Nice pool and outdoorsy area there.

Lovely place! The staff were so friendly and always asked to make sure everything was ok. Minutes walk to downtown or the national park. Great bfast and private parking. The rooms are beautiful, all wood with plenty of hot water. Howler monkeys serenaded us nightly. (Bring earplugs if you are a light sleeper!)

Great little place. Bungalows are very comfortable. Staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Well located just five minutes walk from the small town and national park entrance. Seemingly surrounded by a large troop of howler monkeys....we heard them regularly and spotted them on one occasion too which was a real bonus!

We stayed there for 4 nights, two adults and 2 children of 6 and 9 years. The cabin was roomy, clean and very well planned with shelfes, tables etc that you want for your stuff when traveling. Plus also for the refrigerator and coffee machine. Nice patio with chairs and a hammok.

The location is perfect and the owners and staff was extremely helpfull. The shuttle service provided for free to and from the town was very good. Breakfast was good with lots of fruits and juices.

All in all we higly recomend this place and Antonio and his family who runs the place.

This hotel is in a quiet location down a lane. The rooms are lovely, they have AC and a tv with loads of channels and a nice hammock outside. It says the hotel does border the park but we didn’t see any wildlife around the hotel which was a bit disappointing. It would take around 5-10 minutes to walk to the main entrance of the park. They do have a restaurant but it only serves breakfast. The location itself is quiet and the rooms are nice. However, we had a few issues here that kind of put us off. When we arrived the lady on reception, the family mother, greeted us; she couldn’t find our booking or speak English. I’d arranged to pay by card but she couldn’t use the machine. She actually tried 3 different cards and said none of them worked but all had already been used in Costa Rica and all 3 cards were used again after that with no problems so I think was more her problem than our cards. She didn’t really try very hard and it was disappointing that we had to use our cash which was earmarked for other things. Luckily there was an ATM in Cahuita. Also, on several occasions when I needed to ask a question reception was locked. I’m not really sure what time it was open but it would have been nice to have someone around. The service was very hit and miss. Also the only reason we went to Cahuita was to go to the sloth sanctuary. As soon as we arrived, Antonio tried to sell us their snorkelling and park hike trip. I did explain we wanted to go the sloth sanctuary and could only do an afternoon snorkel trip but it only left in the morning. He said ‘visiting Cahuita without visiting the park was like visiting arenal and not going to the volcano’ and explained we could go to the sloth sanctuary the following morning. We ended up booking the trip, it was fine but Cahuita tours are more expensive than the ones in the town and also you can easily walk the park on your own. We never got to go the sloth sanctuary in the end which was a huge disappointment. Antonio’s dad wanted to charge us $40 to take us which was too much since the bus was only a couple dollars and out of principal we didn’t go. I only wish I’d taken the bus there and gone the day I had intended to go instead of doing their trip, but it’s my own fault. I did however, find them a bit pushy and I’d kind of hoped since we did their snorkel trip and changed our plans, they could have offered us a better deal or been more helpful in helping us get to the sloth sanctuary. The second day we were being picked up at midday and just didn’t have time to go there by bus and there were no taxis in Cahuita, but again I’m annoyed with myself for not sorting it out the day before. Also Antonio said his dad was waiting for us at 5.30am to take us to the sloth sanctuary and seemed a bit annoyed but we’d never actually agreed a time or arranged anything we’d only enquired about the price. As far as I knew the sanctuary didn’t open until 8am (I’d emailed and checked) but Antonio said they would’ve opened earlier as his dad knew them..well how were we supposed to know that if nobody told us ?! Overall the hotel is nice, it’s quiet and the rooms are lovely. I just didn’t really get a good vibe from the staff. Costa Rica is such an amazing country and everyone else we met was amazing and welcoming and truly helpful and friendly but we just got a really different vibe here. It was more about the money and less friendly. I had a list of things I wanted to do in Costa Rica and everything else went without a hitch and we had a perfect holiday. There really was nothing wrong with this hotel as such, it’s just for me, it was the the only place where things didn’t go as planned but it’s partly my fault. However, most people hire cars in Costa Rica so if you have your own transport you won’t have the same problems we did anyway.

A little bit difficult to find the place, even with a map, but worth the effort. Located in a forest environment. Very nice, clean and typical villas. Very, very helpful and friendly service. People in charge of Cahuita tour are honest people. They charge half the price for snorkeling, because the conditions were not the best due to recent rain. The guides were well educated, very professionnal. Antonio the owner is a very nice guy who offered us taxi service at night.
If you want to spend time in a typical village, feeling a little bit out of the touristic circuit, with nice and honest people, this is a good place.

My friend and I stayed for a week in Cahuita and stayed in house 2. Plenty of shelving and space. Rooms were clean (nice sheets, towels and lots of pillows), and plenty of utensils in the kitchen for cooking. Also beverages in the full sized fridge if you wanted. We bought groceries and were able to cook and really make ourselves at home. Also a safe!! Air conditioning AND a fan, which was a nice option to use less energy, as this is an eco-lodge. Breakfast every morning was hearty and delicious. And who could forget the hammocks out front?!

The location is less than a 5 minute walk down a single lane road to town that drops you a block from the beach and National Park on the right, with lots of restaurants and stores on the other side. The lodge is far enough away that it feels separate from the town, but close enough to walk and be there in 3 minutes.

The service and community is what tips this place over the edge from other hotels. This is family owned and run and you will meet everyone in the family! Incredibly friendly, warm and helpful. They helped us plan a day trip to Panama, offered laundry, how to get around town, where to eat, other day trip options, and were always available to help for whatever purpose at any hour. They even have family contacts at a tour shop in Puerto Viejo for when we visited for the day to help us find activities and get around. Even though the town was only 3 minutes away by foot, they offered to drive there and back at night when it was dark, just to make sure we were safe. We felt so comfortable there, were well taken care of and can't wait to go back!
