It was 3rd stop at Costa Rica in one trip vacation, and I was so thankful to stay here. Great food, awesome view, comfortable bed, useful and well situated facilities, and overall...piece of heaven that I needed after not so such great accommodation in spite of 5 star rating at other places. Choose it without doubt. Yes it is pricey bur worth it...
If its any indication of how amazing this place is this was our third trip to Villa. We decided to come back again this year in January for a post holiday relaxation trip. We chose to come here again because we knew exactly what to expect and what you should expect is some of the best staff and people who make you not only feel like a welcomed guest buy like friends. After our third trip here we can honestly say we have made friends with the people who work here and can't wait to come back for a fourth time. This being our 3rd time here over 4yrs the same staff has always been here and that to me is a great indication of the not only how great this place is but also how comforting it is to come back and see the same friendly faces who great you with open arms and smiles. The hotel itself is located on a hillside secluded enough to make you feel like you are away from the real world but a short taxi ride away (5min) from a great nightlife in Coco and another 10-15min taxi ride from two amazing but different beaches, Ocotal and Hermosa Beach, that both provide a real Pura Vida vibe. The rooms are very spacious and they all have amazing views of the property and ocean views. I would always choice an upstairs corner room to take advantage of the corner showers that provide panoramic views that make the rainfall showers even better. The food deserves its own review and is some of the best tasting food I've ever had. It is alll local sourced and some of the freshest local Costa Rican food. The drink menu is vast and provides plenty of options from wines and local craft beers to fresh made in house cocktails (green iguana is amazing!) They also make the best chiliguaro in Coco and is a personal favorite of ours. We love this place because of the people. Carlos, Javier, Alex, Cesar, Marijke (and Tasmania!), Christian and the entire staff have become friends and we can't wait to visit our friends again.…
My wife Susan and I loved our stay at Villia Buena Onda. Tucked back from the beach with a stunning view of the Gulf of Papagayo, this eight room hotel provides luxury and intimacy that larger scale resorts never could. The staff, from the the front desk, to the waiting staff, to cleaning staff, and even the cook, were professional while being extremely personable. The setting provides all the privacy you could want, while the intimate scale allows you to get to know the other guests. We shared our table at dinner with a number of fascinating couples. There was even dog therapy when the manager let her four-month old beagle Taz out for a visit. Do the beach in the morning, the pool in the afternoon and meet new friends at happy hour! (...and get the massauge!)
We had a beautiful 3 night stay at this stunning hotel perched on a cliff overlooking Playa del Coco. With only 8 gorgeous rooms, it was a very intimate and luxurious experience. The staff was there to accommodate any need. The other guests were very friendly. In fact you get to know them each it seems given the intimacy of the place. The grounds are also stunning. Two pools - one more of a tiki bar the other more substantial that I used a few times a day to swim and get in some exercise. In fact there we’re moments during the day that we had the hotel and grounds mostly to ourselves. The included meals were also yummy as were the cocktails. We highly recommend those looking for a more quiet and upscale adult only experience.
Villa Buena Onda has just about everything going for it. Excellent staff, superb accommodations and delicious food. We were pampered to no end here. We stayed on the poolside room which was cheaper, but we loved the easy accessibility to the pool, dining area and front desk. We intended to stay for 10 days but were storm stayed for two extra days. It was no hardship and they gave us a hugely discounted rate just out of kindness. Carlos, Alix, Caesar, Mary, Javier and the kitchen and cleaning staff are simply the best. I have traveled extensively and have never found such kind, professional and caring staff. The staff at the spa are so professional. I usually avoid pedis and manis when I'm away, but I have never seen such a clean spa. I would trust them and the facial--which comes with a scalp massage--is to die for. Worth every penny. It is quiet here at night but you can take a taxi into town--Coco beach. If you think you will be ATVing bring old clothes and shoes. You may just want to leave them behind. The beaches are nice with Hermosa being the best and the beaches on the Hidden Beach Tour are absolutely exquisite, clear and warm. The only suggestion I would have is to try to find a way to heat the pool up a bit. We are Canadians and even we found the water cold. Stay a while, it is guaranteed to be one of the best vacation experiences of your life!…
