Good 4* hotel, downtown Shanghai. Spacious clean room, everyday like brandnew snowwhite towels.

Only the heater works in the room, so the room is always 27 degrees, which can be hot on times during spring when I was there.

Breakfast was more for the chinese market, nit that much choice for westerners.

Unfortunately not easy to communicate with the staff, as only a few do speak english, but at least they are all willing to help you, woth their translation app.

Be aware: no Whatsapp/No Instagram/No google/No Gmail etc. In China!!

Chinese applications only!!! So, dont waste your money on buying a e-simcard or a chinese simcard, above mentioned applications are just blocked by the government!!!

So, just relax and or work and enjoy SH!!!

Facilities were ok. But when checking in we were asked for $300 deposit which was a suprise. We already booked and paid for the rooms so this was very unethical. Their reasoning was the mini bar. Since none of our group drinks we asked them to lock the minibar if they want. They reduced to deposit to $100 after that.
Also rooms have central A/C, heating systems and rooms got very hot. Only after complaining to front desk they adjusted the heat yet it was still too hot. Had to open a window in oder to sleep. Coming from a country where normal temperature is between 25°C to 40°C better beleive it when it is too hot even for us.
Also wish breakfast had changed daily even a littlebit. It was tiring to see the same menu day after day. Although the breakfast buffet had a good spread it was delicious. Their bread pudding was very tasty.
We spend 5 days here.
As for other details excellent location, very helpful coconcierge staff. Comfortable beds and spacious rooms.

Very central place to underground and shops. Hotel was typical of these large 4-5 star hotels. The accomodation was good with lovely decor and nice to come home to after a busy day sightseeing. Breakfast was typical buffet style with lots of variety

The hotel should have a definite standard for collecting deposits. Some guests are charged 500 yuan, others 1,000 yuan. I was charged 2,000 yuan, while my friend was charged 4,000 yuan. What constitutes the standard, or is it dependent on the staff's mood? The staff couldn't provide any explanation beyond the term 'deposit' and also appeared to look down on guests based on their booking demeanor, being unfriendly and rude.

For a place that prides itself as a 4.5 star hotel, the services provided has been quite unprofessional. Particularly one of the evening house keeping lady, who continuously gave us attitudes when delivering items and checking lights that wasn’t working. Also the three loitering valets outside the hotel on the morning of March 29th, who offered zero assistance and stood there watching myself, mum and my elderly grandfather struggling with our large luggages onto our waiting cab. NEVER in any hotels have I ever received such cool treatment from hotel staff, especially at checkout. I suppose this is what impression a 4.5 star hotel in Shanghai want to leave us with. I will not recommend this hotel to anyone else. There are so many better choices in the area.

We were very happy with our three night stay here. The room was quiet and nice and clean, breakfast had a great choice of both Asian and Western cuisine. Great position near the main centre, nothing to fault.

Superb Modern Hotel just minutes from the main centre. Staff were helpful and friendly and room was excellent. Restaurant was good too. Affordable price for its location. Huge bed and great views over the city. The concierge was very helpful when booking tours.

Nor better not worse of other hotel pair level here around. Good room, clean and quite spacious. Bath small but all inside: shower + bathtub separated. A negative point is the air conditioner fan very noisy. Impossible to sleep keeping it on.
Lobby is very elegant but furniture old style. Is big but there just couple of tables to rest for a conversation!!!!
Gym is modern. Breakfast is very poor as food type offered comprare y to the hotel around.

Yes... every hotel we stayed in, in China required a security deposit. It was always refunded back to my cc as we were checking out. Why? It’s is simply the way they do business in China.

Hi there, In my travels in China, especially the first level cities like Shanghai and Beijing, you can be bold and haggle on deposits. In at the Central in Shanghai, they asked for something crazy as deposit. (About as much as we had as spending money for the week), which I thought was rude. I resisted, and they backed down and asked for 1000Y which was much more reasonable. I feel it is a game they play (as do most international hotels), but if they think we will walk, they stop the rigmarole and they are civil.
