This was our third stay at The Middle House but our first since becoming parents. Jacqueline could not have been more helpful when planning our visit and organised a cot and baby bath to be in the room - she also bought mosquito spray for our baby during our visit which was thoughtful. We came for my husband’s birthday and Jacqueline gave brilliant dinner recommendations and organised a cake to be brought to our room on the morning of his birthday. The rooms are modern with some Chinese elements in styling with super comfortable beds and linen. The housekeeping staff are amazing; nothing is too much and we felt totally comfortable using their babysitting service whilst we went out for dinner and to their excellent spa for treatments. Duomo was so sweet and caring with our baby and wrote notes so that I knew when he’d fed etc. when we got back. Thank you to Yvonne too for ensuring we weren’t too nervous leaving him with someone that he didn’t know. The breakfast at the hotel in Café Grey is also brilliant with a great breakfast menu to choose from which is inclusive with the room. Once again, the service is unbeatable and even when I forgot to ask the waitress for my pancakes a certain way, she remembered anyway and asked the chefs to make them how I like. In short, if you want a relaxing, comfortable stay in a brilliantly central location and staff who are wonderfully helpful, friendly and professional then you should stay here. I can’t wait until our next visit!

I was in Shanghai last weekend, between the 28/08 to the 31/08. I had the pleasure to stay at the Middle House for the three nights of my trip and i must say it was a real delight. My room was on the residential side of the property and i was welcome by Ms. Jacqueline and Mr. Denis with a friendly smile and reassuring professionalism. The whole environment was transmitting a sense of beauty and luxury without being opulent or cliche, and you can definitely see a very careful attention for the details. The room was very nice, with a small practical and fully equipped kitchen, an ample wardrobe room and a very comfortable bedroom with a plushy bed and a desk with couch. The real beauty of this mini-apartment however was, the bathroom, which was stunning; equipped with both a bathtub and a shower with a beautiful view on the city. Another great detail that i appreciated very much was the attention to the environment, the whole city of Shanghai is getting “greener” more and more but in Middle House this attention is taken to the next level, from the magnetic card to access the room being made out of wood to the cotton buds being wrapped in a cotton fiber fabric, it's very difficult to find a single piece of plastic or synthetic material being used. The cleaning staff was impeccable, discrete and always smiling, taking care of the room swiftly but carefully and checking on me and my guests if anything was needed during the whole day. Unfortunately i hadn't had the chance to eat in the Italian restaurant downstairs, Frasca, but i met Chef Marino in Beijing and eat in the Frasca in there different times, and i've never been disappointed so i'm sure this one is great too. Lastly i wanna mention the front desk guy who help me check out in the very early morning of the 31st. I left the hotel around 4:30 am and Roland, this was his name if i remember correctly, was there smiling and friendly and extremely helpful like it was the middle of a normal day, he provided me with water and breakfast before i left, called a taxi for me and made sure with the driver that i would reach my destination.
I highly recommend anyone who is planning to visit Shanghai to sojourn in Middle House and i would like to thank once again Denis, Jacqueline, Roland and the whole team for making a short mundane trip a memorable experience.

We stayed 2 nights for my girlfriend's birthday and The Middle House could not have been a better place to celebrate. The hotel has left no stone unturned and the staff are so welcoming and attentive. In the room, the bed & linen is of the highest standard and the fittings/materials used in the bathroom make for a great experience. The pool/gym facilities are a fantastic way to justify endulging oneself at the restaurants, which serve excellent Eastern and Western food. A special thanks to Jacqueline who really went above and beyond.

The Middle House’s core belief is “Our House Your Home” and I must say that they live and breath this message with everything they do on a daily basis. From the doormen to the front desk and the housekeeping service all way right to the upper management you instantly feel at home with an extremely professional & amazingly friendly service.
The guest experience team continues to delight and amaze both myself and my daughters (10yrs & 8yrs) with the small touches provided to keep their interest which can be a challenge at their age. An example of this was on a rainy day in Shanghai they provided some painting equipment for my daughters to entertain themselves or another evening provided some special bath and girl’s pampering sets. My daughter’s were so wowed & exited with both examples of extremely thoughtful touches that made a bad weather day something to actually look forward to.
The Food, Friendly Service & overall quality of all 3 restaurants sets The Middle House apart from all others and is an absolute must to visit all 3 regardless of whether you are a house guest. Because for the entire team that I have come to know do not differentiate between patrons either house guest or not providing a fully sublime restaurant experience that challenges the best Shanghai has to offer. Firstly the high end dining at “Cafe Gray” offers you what you can expect from a top class international restaurant anyway in the world. Next is “Frasca” a very authentic Italian bistro style offering a selection of absolutely superb food from Anti-pasta to their amazingly light pizza called “Pinsa” or a “Veal Milanese” which is my favorite by far! Then there is “Sui Tang Li” their fine dining Chinese restaurant that has the best “Yum Cha” in town, however, also provides an authentic mixture of different styles of Chinese food from around China.
Then there is the Gym and Fitness Centre that again sets The Middle House apart from all others offering attention to detail in all aspects including the amazing indoor lap pool which in true Middle House style a LG1 Floor which provides a unique window style atrium at one end offering a green wall experience, this makes you feel you are swimming above ground and are not in a lower ground floor at all, a very unique experience indeed.
I cannot thank the team enough for making me feel so welcome during my stay, thank you Michael, Mark, Denis, Martin, Jacqueline, Alexandra, Mark, Gary, Cindy, Joy, Frederick and the entire team, apologies if I cannot recall all your names as you all contribute to the core belief “Our House Your Home”.

I would like togive my best recommendation for this excellent restaurant. Located at Taikoohui. Shanghai The middle house hotel. The decoration is so attractive, amazing design with a big pen bar in the 3th floor, terrace is cute and comfortable. Drink are tasty and well executed, trsut me, have a drink before meal is an excellent choice. Food is simple amazing, each dishes plating with appetitive color, not very luxury but makes people feel tasty. High rated on the beef Wellington, the foie grad and truff we're juicy, beef practically melt in my mouth,and the pastry of wellington wad flaky and crispy, nice too. Surprisingly,the wine list is extensive, a wine lover could sit here tasting wine for hours and travel the world, Napa, Bekka, Chablis, Barolo...it could be a wine house. I really appreciated the part was the service on point completely. Staffs were friendlyad helpful which brought me the deep inner satisfaction and happiness. During the entire dining, change hot plates and cutlery for my meal, prepare wet wipes few times, also split the portion soup for us. With a very confident and comfortable voice to introduce the specific of each dishes.so that brought an engagement with us.its been ages that i didn't had this kind of service, even tho in places that they call themselves fine dining.I also would like to particularly mention the first class service provide by the staff Ellen, Blahblahblah girl has a great sense of humor. Faye who serve our cocktails is very stylishand professional. Which they went beyond the expectations as service and almost made me feel like having personal dinner. A warm welcome and tremendous service throughout made for a lovely stay at this fantastic hotel, with a sophisticated and compelling aesthetic throughout.
I was impressed that staff's WeChat connections were eagerly offered as a way to coordinate any needs during the stay, and attention to detail at all times.
The open room design was flooded with light and all aspects of the room were stylish yet functional and comfortable.
High-quality amenities from Bamford and great Illy coffee plus a free minibar for snacks, soft drinks, and nice water in glass bottles added to the overall sophistication of the experience.
The location is fantastic, adjacent to a good mall and with easy access to the metro.
Overall a sophisticated and stylish clientele, too, makes it a prime location for scheduling meetings or catching up with friends.
Compared to other offerings, and having been at all of them, this would certainly be my first choice for a luxury stay in Jing'an.

I booked the Middle House because of its fantastic location, proximity to the mall and restaurants and guest rooms which lived up to its photos. However I was blown away by the friendly service of its staff, particularly ms Vera Jin who not only upgraded my room but also offered the $100 usd amenities voucher, her English was perfect and saved me having to communicate in broken Chinese.
I was so comfortable at this hotel i hosted my 84 year old grandmother and aunties for lunch , they too where very impressed by the friendly staff and the Christmas tree !
Would highly recommend this hotel to all travellers

My wife and I had planned a staycation within Shanghai as it has been 9+ months since we have travelled anywhere. After searching around and speaking with some friends, we decided to choose The Middle House Hotel for the weekend (Fri-Sun).
The staff, guest experience manager, and restaurants all treated us like royalty.
Very pleased and happy with the service, amenities and surrounding area. Did not need to go far for everything we needed for our stay and things which we needed help finding, the staff were more than helpful to procure for us during our stay.
Traffic, subway accessibility and location could not be better as everything was within walking distance or direct access from the building.
Café Grey was exceptional and provided the right level of ambiance for a romantic evening while Frasca is a great spot for outdoor patio brunch with drinks. Sui Tang Li is probably my favorite Dim-Sum fusion restaurant at the moment.
The gym, pool and spa facility was exceptional and easy to find and navigate. Although the Middle House hotel and residence is lacking of a business center to get work done, the staff was accommodating to provide a private room in Café Grey for me to take a video call.
Will definitely be keeping this as a priority for my next staycation in the city.

As soon as you walk into the dimly lit lobby, you notice the perfect amalgamation of East meets West. The decor certainly evoked a warm and inviting ambience. Our two day staycation was above and beyond our expectations.
The service in this hotel was a wonderful surprise. The staff were all charming and exceptional. The perfectly appointed rooms had a great view of the city plus it also offered complimentary treats from delicious gummy candies that were restocked everyday to a beautiful gifted boxed candle on the table alongside a hand written welcome letter. It’s obvious that the hotel prides itself on making all their guest feel like home away from home with their warm and hospitable service. Not once did anyone frown at anything we requested, every service offered was with a genuine smile. I would especially like to thank Jacqueline Mocatta for making our stay so extraordinarily special. We were offered a glass of Prosecco on arrival whilst our children were offered delicious chilled juice drinks. Breakfast in the Gray Cafe was outstanding and we loved our time in the fitness room and pool.
I can’t express how much my family and I loved our stay and we look forward to staying there in the near future.
