First time staying in this hotel despite having been to Shanghai for many times as there are plenty of choices in Shanghai. I am glad that I made this choice as the hotel turned out to be wonderful.
Check in was a breeze but I think I made a wrong choice to ask a room further away from the elevator and it was indeed a long walk in the very cold weather that even indoor I felt cold.
The room I was given is spacious and all done typical “”Intercontinental” style.
The breakfast choices are one of the best I have ever experience as I was spoilt for choices of what I want but too bad I was there only for one night .
My only disappointment of the hotel was the lounge at the lobby which had my lunch. Since it was almost 3 pm hence I opted for a club sandwich but sat at one of the round table . The staff came over to say that the table is not meant for eating which I felt strange and it is just next to the table she suggested and it doesn’t look any difference except it is a square table .
Nonetheless this hotel would still my choice given the choices of breakfast .

I have stayed in this hotel for 3 nights as part of a staycation to celebrate the new year. Everything has been perfect, since the moment when we arrived we were kindly greeted and assisted by the front desk manager, Joey, he was super helpful and gave us a smooth and fast check in. I was especially impressed to see that even the hotel was almost full house most of the time during our stay, still they have been able to deliver an expectional, memorable, experience, beyond 5 stars. Especial mention to Lucy in the executive lounge, even she was super busy all the time, she kept her smile and helpful service attitude all the time. Last, but not least, the quality, variety and freshsness of the food served in the buffet, by far one of the best buffets I´ve seen in many years. Just on my last day I found out that this restaurant won the price as the best 5 star hotel buffet in Shanghai in 2020.No doubt why they won. Apart from the delcious food, they serve wonderful red and white wine during the dinner. I was impressed to see the food and beverage manager, Rebecca, clearing tables and working hand by hand with her team during the busiest moments in the restaurant. During our stay we enjoyed several hours in the swimming pool everyday, with below zero temperatures outside during our stay, they kept it very well heated so you feel very warm at all times, even when walking from the changing rooms to the bathing area. We are already planning our next stay there!

A Thank-You Note to “Our Home away from Home!” ~ NECC InterContinental Hongqiao, Shanghai
I chose the non-other than our “home away from home” NECC IC to have a “catching up time” with some incredible friends. I purposely planned it to coincide with my 62nd birthday this August.
My wife and I want to thank the General Manager and all of his staff for the warm welcoming and in all kind of ways supported us to our needs and we enjoyed the afternoon tea, happy hour and breakfast.
The Hotel Manager, always make sure that our room is ready in all aspects, additionally a chilled Prosecco, fruits and pairing desserts always in our room as we entered. Splendid! This made us feel like royalty!
The F& B Directors, the Five Live Chefs and Pastry Chief were very supportive to our requests of own selection of food not in their Menu. We specially want to thank Freddy for his coordination with the team and continuous effort's in the successful cocktail and dinner event. They patiently supported to all my wife’s requests for the weekend cocktails and dinner for 17 people.
The dinner was superb and so exceptional ~ truffle arugula & seafood pizzas; German sausages with side dishes of mashed potatoes & sauerkraut; special Thai spicy meat; avocado salad; fried calamari and the lemon yogurt cake. The truffle arugula pizza was hit! The executive chefs and pastry chef are a genius, so delicious and delicately prepared.
Once again we and on behalf of our friends want to extend our most sincere gratitude to the staff of NECC IC. Our stay and “party” couldn’t be more wonderful.
We will be back!

Could not get out of town so decided stay a bit longer, and joined the German Style Brunch at the Bru. Great Austrian German live band, free flow of beer sparkling and wine with an amazing spread of culinary delights from around the world - great fun with my friends snd the western community. The InterCon management team was around taking care of all their guests. Real great value, amazing atmosphere and a bit of home-Nostalgie ! Great outdoor terrace for those ‘smokers’ and a separate children room. Loved the seafood corner, Haxn, Leberkase und Schinken, Speck und Bretzeln. Great Value - will be back !

My wife and I had our second returned stay at the Shanghai Hongqiao Intercontinental NECC from Oct 01-04. We were greatly welcomed and served by the staffs in the hotel throughout our stay. We were much appreciated of the services rendered by the staff, being a Spire Ambassador member. During the trip we had discovered the beauty of the hotel surroundings for an easy stroll around the river band towards Qibao. This has greatly utilized our time for the 4days get away. After a long walking day out, dining at the exclusive ambience hotel club lounge was much a reward with great selection of hot food, patries, german breads and wines. We discovered the excellent Nepresso machine which makes great cappuccino both hot and cold. Something to grap esp we are coffee lovers! Besides food on counters guests got to select from menu which we enjoyed like egg benedict & Shanghai onion noodles. One of the mornings we had the privilege to taste a bowl of Singapore Laksa specially prepared by the Chef and it was deliciously displayed too. Again we had a very satisfying stay and able to connect with the staff at a personal level. We would like to compliment to their tireless energy and looking forward to returning soon to NECC Intercontinental Hotel.

My room at the InterContinental Shanghai Hongqiao NECC was well appointed, and turn-down service was automatically offered every night. Louis from the Club InterContinental did an impeccable job, always looking after guests with care. He was downright the most memorable person out of everyone I interacted with at this hotel. Most other Club InterContinental staff members served the guests with good intention, too, though some seemed inexperienced.
I had the pleasure of trying the breakfast in 3 different venues: the Club InterContinental, the Five Live Restaurant, and the BRU Bar on one occasion because the Restaurant was closed for renovation. The service was really good everywhere, although I noted some inconsistencies on the Club InterContinental breakfast menu, and the space arrangement at the BRU Bar made it not as easy to gather food and utensils from the buffet. I reported both issues to the hotel and trust they took note of them. The happy hour buffet at the Club InterContinental also did not always have the menu card on display, and while I loved the à la carte options available, I would appreciate if these options were more clearly presented to guests.
It takes only a few minutes' walk between the East Xujing metro stop and the hotel. Although both the metro stop and the hotel are located within the NECC complex, they are unfortunately not connected indoors, so it can still be a challenge to walk on a hot summer day. I imagine this would not be much of an issue if the weather were nicer, though. On the other hand, the great benefit of taking the metro from East Xujing is that there are always seats available, as it is a terminus stop.

Memories still linger from last weekend! Once again I chose InterContinenal Shanghai Hongqiao NECC to celebrate my 61st birthday with my wife and close friends. It’s our ninth time returning to the hotel.
We are would like to give special thanks to the GM, Christoph, the Hotel Manager, Rebecca, and Room Director, Annie for all the extraordinary arrangements. It was truly unexpected and made the birthday unforgettable. Thanks for the delicious signature cake with details of the inscription being asked of me. And the decoration in the room and the gifts took us by surprise! It meant so much that every staff pulled together.
Special thanks should also be given to Asst. F&B Dir., Max, Chef Andy, Jane, Jessie and Aaron from the Bru Bar and Louis from the Club Lounge. Their service were outstanding — served us cheerfully to our fullest satisfaction. Our lunch table was beautifully decorated with petals of roses and sea shells which our two little friends couldn’t resist …
Also not forgetting the utterly delicious Indian cuisine, selection of cheeses, special recipe Sichuan pot, German cuisine with bread, gorgeous German beer, the beautiful red wine - Winemaker and the enjoyable Nepresso coffee at the Lobby Bar and Club Lounge.
Thank you again for making us and our friends (their first time stay) feel so special.

We had a fabulous stay at this hotel at the beginning of 2022. The facilities are beautiful and well kept. The kids enjoyed the swimming pool everyday. The buffet is a good spread of both Asian and Western, which we ate too much of every morning. The only downside was that the executive lounge was not open at the time, and the happy hour/afternoon tea was in the lobby lounge. Still nice, but the upper floor lounge would have been nicer. The one thing I must mention is a special gentleman named Fred. He is just amazing; never encountered this level of service anywhere else in China! He is a diamond to this hotel, and his presence made the stay from amazing to out-of-this-world. Thank you, and we will be back!

No consideration for guests, room are either small and smelly or noisy. No hospitality, no recognition for IHG status not even ambassador. Avoid. This is an industrial fake hotel. They only focus on group and will disregard your booking for those groups. If you don't and end up in the parking lot you can consider yourself lucky. Picture people at front desk, find the problem.

We had a free weekend night voucher left, which we did not want to let expire. Therefore, we decided to check in at the InterConti Shanghai NECC for a relaxed weekend stay. Nice atmosphere, as always. Overall a beautiful IHG InterConti hotel. What made this stay special is our executive lounge experience where we received outstanding service - shout-outs to their Assistant InterConti Club Manager Freddy Zurita.
