We chose Yasawa Island resort and SPA for our Honeymoon and it was the best choice we made. I loved everything about the resort, it location, beaches, most friendly staff and activities. I loved how every staff member know your name and treats you as their family. We are vegetarians and they made sure that they cater to our dietary needs (Kudos to the chef, he was brilliant. Even made Indian food for us). One of the best thing about this resort is the lunch picnic on a secluded beach which you can book a day before. They will leave you on a beach of your choice with lunch. Best part was that everyone knows how to sing and their music was just amazing. It makes you relaxing. Rob and Regina are also very wonderful people and they make sure that you are getting everything you need during your stay. I loved every single moment I was at Yasawa.

Only thing they need to work on is their room service. We ordered food for couple of times and it took them close to 1 hour each time. Even for a coconut water. Air conditioning in the rooms is also not adequate in comparison to a bure size. When it gets too hot in the afternoon the AC is not big enough to make the room cool. May be they should install multiple units.

I will definitely come back to Yasawa.

Bula, It is always wonderful to hear that a stay on Yasawa was one of the best vacations ever. The activities - particularly the beaches are a highlight - but it really is the staff that make a stay on Yasawa memorable - even life changing for some. I would also like to thank you for the constructive points on the Room Service - we appreciate the thoughts and will address it with the team. The weather in Fiji is such that from about December to the end of February it does get hotter and more humid than the rest of the year. There is a greater need for air-conditioning at that time - the rest of the year the nights are much cooler and we have virtually no humidity. We hope to welcome you back in the future. We just went to Yasawa Island Resort on our honeymoon and it was perfect. Everyone was so friendly. Food was delicious (and I am super picky). The bure was absolutely phenomenal. It was larger than our condo and was right on the beach. Everything was clean and updated. The cocktails were amazing. Definitely order the Yasawa White Surf. I didn’t use any of my cosmetics because they supplied us with Pure Fiji shampoo, conditioner, body wash, and lotion. Regina and Rob greeted us with leis and a crown of flowers starting our trip off with so much excitement! We had a private beach picnic at Paradise 2 and experienced amazing snorkeling!!! We had a private dinner under the stars where my husband ate enough seafood for four people. There is no shortage of food. Swimming at the Resort (whether at the beach or the pool) is amazing and super convenient. We had a lot of privacy at our bure. The outdoor shower was so cool!! I was more of a big fan of the dual shower heads with the indoor showers. This place is truly paradise. We will come back again!!!

Bula Tabatha, Thank you for spending your honeymoon with us and we appreciate your wonderful feedback, I have passed on your wonderful comments to Rob, Regina and the team. Seafood dinners on the beach are an absolute highlight of a stay on Yasawa and we are very lucky to have the local fisherman drop their catch of Lobster, Crab, Fish and Octopus to the resort every few days. The uninhibited private island picnics on one of our 11 private beaches are an amazing highlight and we are so glad you were able to visit paradise beach during your stay. Thank you for your feedback. Vinaka, James McCann Owner Yasawa Island Resort & Spa

Fantastic Experience and Excellent Service.

We just spent five nights at this resort and were very happy with the experience. The resort is in good shape. The bures are a little dated, but the resort”s five star service and five star location more than compensate . The staff was very friendly and accommodating. My wife is vegan and they did an outstanding job of accommodating her dietary needs. They even created a special printed vegan menu just for her. I’ve never seen anything like this before and we have stayed in Four Seasons resorts all over the world. A few more highlights: (1). The location is world class and the beach at the resort is so secluded and clean that you could just spend your entire visit on this beach. You can do some excellent snorkeling right off your bure, (2) The spa was great and the therapists did a great job. They didn’t just phone it in and you can’t beat the views and the sound of the ocean waves, (3) The food was great! (4) We had an issue with the air conditioning that was rectified very quickly. (5) Make sure you enjoy a picnic at one of the private beaches. This is truly a memorable experience.

I’ve seen some complaints about bugs and lizards in the rooms. We didn’t like this either. But you are in the middle of the jungle and this can’t be avoided. It was a minor issue and should not deter you from visiting this lovely place.

Thanks again to the Yasawa Island Resort and Spa for a great visit!

Bula Brian, Thank you for your Comments. I am glad that Tiko and his kitchen team were able to look after Dawn's dietary needs. I have passed on your comments to them. Being on a small resort in the the Pacific is beautiful but challenging sometimes to get unique and different food stuffs so it is great to hear your wonderful comments. The resorts stunning location on an island in the middle of a tropical jungle is amazing but we do have to contend with the local wildlife occasionally. This does sometimes mean we share the island with gecko's, lizards and the like. Thank you for your understanding, we do try to strike a balance between spraying for bugs and leaving the island in its natural state. We hope to see you back in Fiji in the future. We stayed at Yasawa in May of 2022, and unfortunately, even though the beaches were amazing, the resort itself has some real problems that need attending to. I want to start by saying that the beaches at Yasawa are truly some of the most magnificent I have ever seen. The beaches are white sand and the water is so blue it's almost hard to believe. The surrounding mountains offer such a breathtaking backdrop, and the scuba at Yasawa is exceptional.

We were really impressed with the food and the service, and the staff at the resort was so lovely, especially the scuba instructor Aku, who helped us get certified while we were there!

The private beach picnics are great as well, and the private beaches that they take you to are really spectacular and you can go snorkelling right from the beach.

However, the resort itself is in seriously bad shape. When we arrived, our room was really gross. There were lipstick stains on the glasses, stains all over the walls, and bugs literally crawling over everything. We arrived at 2pm, and the state of the room was not addressed until the following day.

Even when the room was deep cleaned, the towels still had stains on them routinely, the wall stains remained, and the general disrepair of the Bure was evident.

The sweeps under the doors throughout the Bure had holes in them. Because of this we were constantly visited by spiders and lizards who had crawled under, so we started putting towels at the bottom of the door. We consistently had to use RAID for the ants, and the wood at the top of the Bure is so covered in dust it looks white. The sheets were stained as well as the bed skirt when we got there. Even after cleaning, this was not changed. The chairs at our beachfront had holes in them and were covered in debris when we got there. The beach is also not as close to the Bure as it appears in the pictures.

The beach chairs and the towels at the pool were also regularly discoloured or stained.

Furthermore, there is no phone in the room, so if you need anything from the front desk you have to walk over. There is also no service and no wifi, which would be fine if there was a phone.

The fact that the website lists itself as a luxury resort is comical. I don’t know when these photos are from, but reviewers have been talking about the Bure’s being in disrepair since at least 2018 on here.

And since James is in the habit of rebuffing every single negative review on this site, I've attached some of the photos of our room. It's such a pity that the owner doesn't listen to the constructive criticism people are offering through their reviews.

The staff is so lovely and the island is so beautiful, it's a real shame that the state of the Bures for the price that is charged is the reason we will not be back.

Bula Vinaka, Thank you for your review. We do take constructive comments very seriously and do our best to address any concerns immediately if they are bought to our attention on the island. We want all our guests to have an enjoyable stay with us for the right reasons and all of the Yasawa team strive to look after everyone as is shown through the guests comments. While you enjoyed the activities, food and service on the resort - It is clear that your stay in your Bure was not a positive one and we are truly sorry that this was such a negative experience for you. I know Kerry and the team we horrified by your arrival it should never have been as negative as it was and they did their best to remedy the situation when you brought it to their attention. We do do not have any wifi service in our bures, we do have complimentary wifi in our main complex and bar area. There is also a cell phone tower on the island that guests normally connect to via their mobile phone data. All the bures have a recently upgraded phone system that is mainly used to contact the reception desk. Again we are sorry for your negative experience. My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our 4 nights at Yasawa island resort prior to our week long catamaran sail with Tradewinds Cruise club. We loved the intimate nature of the resort and the quiet reverie we experienced from the lack of screaming children and obnoxious adults. A highlight for me was our private picnic on lovers beach 1. The white sandy beach and multiple blue colors of the water was simply breathtaking. It felt like we were on another planet. They set up Loungers, an umbrella and a cooler for us which allowed us to enjoy several hours of bliss. Our Bure was lovely as well with gorgeous views and steps from the water. I agree with others that the bures could use a bit of updating but it didn't detract from our enjoyment. The seafood feast on the beach is not to be missed. Be sure to sign up for what you want to do at the happy hour bar the night before. The staff is welcoming and friendly. I would highly suggest the deluxe bures on the north side of the beach. We stayed in # 11 which was great although next time I'd like to stay in # 16 which is a bit more private and closer to the best part of the beach for swimming. Or splurge on the honeymoon suite. If I was to travel to the Yasawa islands again I would definitely choose to stay at this resort again. After our sail we stayed at Tokoriki Island resort for a few days. It is very upscale, beautiful, friendly and offers wonderful food but IMO lacks the beautiful water colors and beaches of Yasawa island resort.

Bula Thanks for taking the time to post your review. The complimentary private beach picnics are a wonderful experience. with lots of beaches to choose from you can do as many picnics as you like during a stay with us. Our seafood beachfront dinners on the beach under the stars are a real highlight. We are very lucky to have the local fisherman bring us freshly caught Crab, Fish and Lobster a few times a week. The honeymoon suite is an indulgence with its secluded location and wonderful beach. Perfect for that special occasion or honeymoon. Finally, as an update for you - we are well advanced on our plans for the ongoing upgrading of the resorts furnishings, we are awaiting delivery on these. There are also finalised plans to do general bure works. I hope we get to see you in the Yasawa's again in the future. VInaka, James McCann Owner Yasawa Island Resort & Spa

We stayed here for 3 nights on our 7 night Fiji holiday. The resort itself is set along the beach with each Bure having direct beach front access. The beach is great although you need to be selective where you swim as most areas have strong waves and rips. The location is remote but beautiful. Access is by small single or twin engine 8-10 seater planes assuming the grass airstrip is not too wet or muddy. The return plane trip was my favorite part of the stay!
The room we had was large and spacious, except the tiny single toilet, clearly the designer forgot this and it went in as an afterthought. The room was clean tidy and nicely decorated. Daily cleaning and turndown service very good. Indoor and outdoor showers a nice touch. The rooms do not have internet, and 3g barely works either. For internet you need to be near the pool or restaurant. This is meant to be a selling point so you disconnect! The rooms are hot, the wind Dora’s not help there is one small air on unit in the room which is way too small to cool the massive room (70+ SQM). This meant 3 sleepless nights just sweating. The other main issue is the food. The selection is poor 2 starters and 2 deserts and 3 mains. Plus traditional long table Fiji night on a Tuesday which had the best tasting food of our stay. The limited menu is all you have as this is a full service catered resort there are no other options. Local staff are pleasant but forgetful. So the price charged is excessive and the service especially food is poor.

An island in the middle of the Pacific Ocean, one resort with 11 beaches and activities that can keep you busy all week. I wanted a resort that was exclusive, not break the bank and provide me more experiences than I would use.
I found it with Yasawa Island Resort. It makes me sad when I read negative reviews about how the island is run down, needing bure updates, too many bugs. My goodness, it is an island out in the middle of the Pacific ocean with wonderful staff from villages on the island. Yes there are bugs, yes at times it can take longer to get dinner than you'd like. These are things that I noticed while there for 9 days. But you know what,it is OK. If I asked for some thing or provided feedback they were more than willing to accommodate.
What I want to talk about is the experience. IT was amazing. We always felt like we were one of the few people there because there was so much to do that nothing was ever crowded. The add on activities, spa, fishing and scuba were all reasonably priced.
Most of all having the feeling that it was my own private island at times was well worth the price spent.
I've gone to the BVIs and Hawaii many times and this has surprised my expectations and experiences there.
Areas of improvement for consideration:
meal timing - dinner could improve by not having everyone show up at 7. If reservations could be made to spread out, it could provide relief to the kitchen so not to have some extended delays.
Website enhancement: the website is very limited in details, would like to understand amenitiies and inclusion better. Include power and wifi details.
-More details on the add ons is always helpful too.

We loved it here. We will be back. We will take more advantage of the picnics and we will plan to scuba. Go here, you will love it!

Bula Vinaka, Thanks for the feedback - we are always keen to hear constructive comments on the resort and take them on board. We are in the process of doing another website at the moment so we will incorporate some of your ideas as it develops. It has always been a bit of a challenge with guests arriving at the same time for dinner. Most people want to sit on the bar terrace to watch the sun go down and have a few drinks before the eat. So we tend to find almost everyone wanting to sit down in the restaurant within 15 minutes of each other for dinner immediately after sunset. Vinaka, James McCann Owner Yasawa Island Resort & Spa

We booked the Honeymoon Burre, the only one with a private pool on its own private beach. This was AMAZING! It had a huge patio, infinity pool, outdoor shower, outdoor dining area, hammock, separate indoor living room, and a private beach surrounded by lava rock formations and mountains. It was a little slice of heaven. The resort provides pick up and drop off from this Burre to the rest of the resort by request due to its remote location. But the spa is a 15 minute beachfront walk if you prefer.

Make sure to take advantage of the blue lagoon cave tour, the snorkeling trip as well as snorkeling off the beach which is amazing. You can also schedule a private beach picnic (they drop you off by boat on your own private beach and provide your food & drinks) as well as a private ocean front dinner. Finally, don’t miss the trip to the village!

Sala, Lela, Joe and Adi at reception went above and beyond to make our stay wonderful! We saw Kerry, the new general manager, every day. She was always two steps ahead ensuring we were taken care of. Sita and Jerry in the restaurant greeted us with smiles every single day! They were genuinely warm and friendly. Smiga was a hoot! We loved having him as our tour guide for the village and blue lagoon cave. Last but definitely not least Neomi and Liz, our masseuses, were phenomenal!! They were key in our relaxation!

We had an amazing time from the beauty of the land & sea surrounding us, to the food, and most importantly the staff who are native to Fiji and made us feel like family. They shared their stories, culture, and their village with us. It was a very sad goodbye when we left and we will not hesitate to return!

Bula Thanks for your thoughts and feedback The honeymoon bure is really amazing being on its own private beachfront with no neighbours for 300 metres, you are assured of privacy. Due to its private location and private pool - it is actually booked more by return guests than honeymooners. We are glad you were able to take advantage of the Complimentary activities including the famous Blue Lagoon Caves, private beach picnic and of course the visit to the village. This is without doubt the highlight for many of our guests along with the genuine personal interaction with all of our staff who come from the neighbouring villages on Yasawa. Although it is a long way from Oklahoma - we hope to see you back in Fiji one day. Vinaka, James McCann Owner

We stayed at Yasawa Island Resort from 14th May for 1 week. The island is so natural and pretty. The sand is white and the water is clear with a perfect temperature for swimming.
The rooms are super spacious. Most are right on the beach and well spaced for plenty of privacy. You can have an outdoor shower and be confident no one will see.
Staff are terrific and really friendly.

The resort is looking extremely tired and as our fellow guests pointed out, needs a lot of work. It has a beautiful location, but the grounds need attention and furnishings in the foyer and restaurant are dark and dated, lacking that tropical feel. The paths to the bures are potholed and dirty and very slimy in the wet. Our bure itself was large and spacious, but the water pressure was abysmal, making hair washing difficult and there was a leak in the toilet floor every time it rained. The thatch on the roof had broken down, exposing the white corrugated iron underneath, which looked pretty awful and the timber on the deck was grey and weathered.

Because the resort is small, facilities are limited. There is only one pool, and one place to eat. There were only four other couples there during our stay, so we got to know each other well which was really nice. The owner of the Resort was there at the time of our stay but several of the guests expressed disappointment that he hadn’t come over during “Management Cocktail Hour” to say hello.

Fortunately the rest of the staff at the Resort were very friendly and helpful and the meals were pretty good, although we were surprised that the Resort didn’t catch fresh seafood and the fruit was pretty sparse. Generally though we enjoyed our meals, which were all inclusive. (Alcohol is extra)
Overall this resort did not live up the expectation of luxury. For such an expensive stay, I could not recommend.

Bula Vinaka, Thank you for taking the time to give us your feedback of your stay. Your stay at the resort corresponded with some awful weather that the entire Australia and South Pacific region experienced due to the La Nina weather pattern this year, including floods, cyclones and the underwater volcanic eruption in Tonga. The resort is primarily a sun destination with a large amount of complimentary motorised and non-motorised water sports, activities, trips and tours. When the weather was so poor it was very difficult to do many of these activities due to weather and safety considerations. The resort has been doing many on-going updates and improvements post covid and continues to do so. Unfortunately, you were in one of the only remaining bures that had not had its grass roof rethatched by the local villagers – due to the weather earlier this year. The large Mahogany wooden decks of the bures are not treated and so do naturally grey over time. Thank you for your positive comments on our staff and meals. The resort actually purchases fresh fish, lobster, crab and squid from the local fishermen at least 3 times a week so the seafood is abundant and always fresh. We also get root crops and fruit from the local farmers, as much as possible. When I am at the resort I always try to say hello to guests but it is not always possible so my apologies for not getting to meet you. Thank you for your thoughts.
