My daughter and I had a wonderful 6 day adventure at Vomo. It was recommended by friends who assured me that the quality of the food was a standout in Fiji. After 2 years of border closings, we were super excited to head to Vomo.

We were not disappointed. The meet and greet service and transfer was fantastic, though there was a slight wait for the boat. And we will probably never forget the welcome song that greeted us when we arrived at the reality.

Our Hillside Villa was fantastic. While it’s not as convenient as the Ocean Front villas, I loved the privacy and the view across the island out to the sea. The room was beautifully furnished and very comfortable. Just a word of warning - there are no TVs (not that we needed it) and basic toiletries so bring your own toothpaste!

We spent 6 blissful days by the pool, enjoying the daily snorkelling trips, the amazing 3 course menus and the kids club was a hit with my daughter. We had 2 spa visits, both of which were great. The island itself is incredible and I loved the privacy of being on a private island with only 100 guests. It felt like a real getaway in the most magical setting possible.

There were some issues with the scheduling of activities at the kids’ club and information could be unreliable. This meant we missed most of the Fijian night show, which was disappointing. I also found that service in the restaurant and pool area was sometimes slow and we had to chase up orders. Perhaps it can be put down to teething problems after a long absence.

In saying all that, the staff were all incredibly lovely and welcoming. They were very helpful in ensuring my daughter was escorted back to the villa after the club or making sure we could get on a snorkelling trip every day. Management also went out of their way to say hello to us. I wanted to thank the staff at Ocean Play in particular. They sorted us out every day with snorkelling gear and we had such fun on each expedition we went on. We highly recommend taking the extra tour to White Rock, as that includes a second snorkel with some “big fish” - the highlight of our trip.

The guests were generally quite friendly. There are many families and also families returning to Vomo so we did sometimes feel like the odd ones out! I didn’t make it to the Rocks bar as was really looking to spend quiet time alone but it’s on the list for next time.

Sadly, while we witnessed many goodbye ceremonies, we didn’t get one ourselves (likely due to the early morning departure). Maybe next time.

We are planning on returning and exploring more of the island next year. It is definitely worthy of a return visit. I think our love for Vomo is just beginning!

Bula! thanks so much for your review. It sounds like you have discovered some of the magic that VOMO offers for adults as well as for children. Our apologies we let you down in some areas. The Kids Club activities should have been more succinctly communicated and we are rectifying this. We have some new team members joining us this week which will ensure service is back to previous high standards. Its pleasing to read that despite some areas where we fell short, you enjoyed our Fijian hospitality and the beautiful surroundings and facilities of VOMO. It will be our absolute pleasure to welcome you back and we appreciate it if you will give us that opportunity. With warm regards from the VOMO family.

We just returned from a spectacular family vacation at Vomo Island. We found the entire experience to be extraordinary. Vomo is a very private and beautiful island, about 40 minutes from Nadi by boat. The accommodations (we stayed at the Palms) were modern and completely first-class. There are 2 full-time chefs on staff and the food was spectacular. The island offers numerous group and private activities (sunset cruises, sunrise breakfasts, fishing, snorkeling) and everything was outstanding. But without question, the highlight of the trip was the incredible staff. Everyone we encountered was amazing. The service culture of the entire island and staff was like nothing we have ever encountered at even the finest hotel chains and resorts. Every member of the staff bends over backwards to make the experience special..which it was! We could not recommend Vomo any higher, and we will certainly be back. A very special thanks to Nicky, Tim, Zach, Justin, Mel and the entire staff for making our trip so memorable.

The most wonderful thing about VOMO are the 'always friendly, happy, delightful staff'. Then comes the magic of the resort. We stayed in 'The Beach House', which is a private 'residence' with three King Sized bedroom suites, a 14 metre pool (and a Private Butler) right on the beach. A truly magnificent, quiet and private setting. Nothing was too much trouble. The food was excellent and when we caught fish on a deep sea fishing expedition, the Chef's cooked it all up for us on the same day. Snorkelling, eating, kayaking, fishing and so much more, all made our trip 'Perfect'. It is not cheap.....but you do get what you pay for. Bottom line.....we will return. And that says it all ! Bula !!!

We had an absolutely amazing time. We stayed for 7 nights and will definitely stay again. The island is stunning and the accommodation facilities are excellent, but it is the staff and their customer care which really sets it apart. We had so many fantastic staff interactions, that it became hard to tell what was exceptional anymore. We’ve stayed places before, where one or two staff members might be excellent, but never somewhere where it’s so consistently the whole team, like in VOMO.

The staff genuinely care about the guests and making sure they have a great time and they remember all the conversations where they try to get to know you, which is really impressive. They are really attentive around food allergies as well.

There were excellent touches, such a specific menu designed around my allergies, so that I always knew what to order and what was safe to eat. The homemade GF doughnuts, I’m still thinking of a few weeks later! The food overall was excellent, we really enjoyed the quality and the variety of the meals. The consistency of high quality meals throughout was really enjoyable, with live music most nights.

We travelled with a 6 month old, and it was really lovely how much the team enjoyed interacting with her and playing with her. The love of kids all comes quite naturally and as our first trip away - it made it so easy and reassuring having the inclusive babysitter.

It is great that the main pool is more family orientated, and lovely to see families playing with the kids in the pool during breakfast and lunch. However, even better is the adults only bar and pool, which means there’s a great space for adults to unwind and relax as well in a different setting. We really valued that separate setting and space and would definitely encourage VOMO to keep the adult pool and bar area to be adult only, because it’s a great differentiator.

We will be back!

We do take extra special care of our management of guests with food allergies, because we know how important it is. Our fifth time there and all is well with the world! This place just continues to deliver in every way. Consistently excellent every time. Food, rooms, service, beaches, swimming pools, water sports facilities, spa, location, snorkling and diving in stunning clear water over the reefs which are right out the front. Heaven. Even the coffee is perfect. Everything absolutely spot on. Can't wait to return.

We stayed at Vomo mid December for 10 days. We had in previous years done the 7 day trip but decided that wasn't enough time with Vomo being so spectacular. We are so glad we did 10 days. Everything is so fabulous at Vomo. The accommodations are luxurious, the island is beyond beautiful, and the people are all so warm and friendly and so eager to make your stay everything you could want. Justin the general manager, is so terrific. He made it possible for us to watch a sporting event (Formula 1 final race) at 1:30 am on the television in the chiefly bure because our son is a fanatic and it was the final race. The food was terrific and the staff accommodated my picky teenage son for example making his beef teryaki bowl at the Rocks with extra beef and no vegetables (yes, I'm a bad Mom, not making eat veggies but he's 18). The lunch menu at the Rocks is always the same but well worth it. I especially liked the simple but tasty and plentiful sushi/sashimi at the Rocks. All the food was exceptional. A few days at breakfast I had the Salmon and avacodo toast which had home cured salmon that was so good. We had their great homemade ice cream every lunch and dinner, sometimes having it in addition to a dessert on the menu. The included virgin bar drinks were refreshing and not something we found to be included at other resorts we have stayed at. Oh, I almost forgot -- the daily snorkeling excursion is great to see reefs at different locations around the island and see so many colorful fish. Go to Vomo. You'll love it as much as we do because it is so fabulous in every way.

Bula Jordan! Thank you so much for coming back to visit us and for posting this review. We are often asked if 7 days is too much on an island but with so much to do, the days do just seem to fly by and 10 days just gives that ability to really relax into your stay a little more. So lingering a little longer was a clever strategy and we are glad you enjoyed this visit as much as the last. Renowned for our fresh and innovative cuisine, the food always tends to be a highlight, so we are thrilled that you had a chance to enjoy the awesome sashimi at The Rocks, our island made ice creams and that delicious home cured salmon. No judgement on the request for less vegetables and more beef in the Teriyaki bowl. After all, you were all on vacation! Glad we passed the teenager tick of approval too. Next time you return, you must try the snorkel excursion out to White Rock in the Yasawa Islands. A brilliant half day boat excursion with so much to see both on the water and under it. Its next level and even better than the daily snorkel safari. Until next time, Sote tale (see you again). Warmest regards from the VOMO family.

This was our second trip to this luxury resort. We are a family group and stayed in the Residence which is a 4 bedroom Villa with its own pool .
It was exceptional. The beds are so comfortable and the decor is beautiful . The living room has a massive TV ( might be handy if there are rainy days ), a fridge with complimentary drinks and cupboard with snacks.
Nicky , our "butler" could organise anything for us - breakfast in our villa or at the restaurant , special food requests, snorkeling trips , a trip to little Vomo , Spa treatments and transfers.
We had a member with poor mobility so we had a smiling happy driver who happily transported her around the place. ( thank you to our " Venga Bus"!)
The big difference from the last trip is the addition of the Adults Only pool area . WOW !! it is stunning! We had our own pool so didnt really need it but now I would come back and stay in a villa knowing that pool and bar is there as I would not hang out at the kids pool at my stage of life although I think its wonderful for young families.

Dear Gkab, Bula from VOMO! Thank you so much for taking the time to share your thoughts about our small but passionate island. Most importantly, I am delighted that you enjoyed VOMO as much as your last visit. Finally, thank you for mentioning Nicky. All of our butlers work incredibly hard to ensure that you ease into your residence as quickly as possible. I have passed your feedback onto Nicky personally, he is delighted that he could have helped to give you a holiday to remember. I do hope we have the chance to host you again. If and when that time comes I remain at your service. Warmest Regards Justin King

A lovely relaxing holiday but could be improved in some areas. The staff were very friendly and the Villas were very nicely finished.

A few small things would make a big difference though. Coming into reception is a dirt roundabout that could easily be sealed for a nicer first impression. As could (at greater expense) the dirt track from the main reception down to the Rocks (Adults only) pool and restaurant which is very dusty in the dry season.

Another big improvement would be to irrigate in front of the Villas. In the dry season this has just dead grass and prickles. If it was watered it would cool the area down as well as make for a much nicer feel.
I realize fresh water is a premium, but with the use of desalination and recycled water these days things have changed dramatically.
Not being critical, but this would make it a lot nicer than dead grass.

As previously stated the staff and accommodation were very good. In particular Tim in Front Office and Ela in the restaurant. The Rocks pool area (adults only) is a great place for couples to chill out. Snorkeling trips were good as was climbing Mt Vomo for some great views of other islands.

As you would realize, this resort is not cheap, but provides you with a lovely Fijian experience.

Bula Flatchange, Thanks so much for your review. We sincerely appreciate you taking the time to post this and take on board your comments about the unsealed roads on the island. We do try to keep the island in a state that is as close to natural habitat as possible, minimising the human footprint we make, whilst balancing guest enjoyment in a luxury environment. VOMO does receive a lot less rainfall that other areas of Fiji as we are in a dry belt out in the Mamanuca/Yasawa islands. As we come out of the dry winter season, the earth is dry. Whilst we do make just enough water through the desalination process for general resort use, we try to use grey water where possible for our gardens/golf course. However, your comments are valid and we will try harder to keep the grass more lush in the winter months. We are pleased that overall you enjoyed your stay. Warm regards from the VOMO family

We have travelled all over the world, both as a couple and as a family, but this was truly a next level experience of luxury, incredible food, genuine and warm service and above all else, a genuine escape from ordinary life.

The food menu changes daily and has enough to cater for all tastes. We have never eaten so much or so well.

As we stepped out of our beachside villa we could literally walk straight into the ocean for crystal blue waters and amazing snorkelling. Coral and fish of colours unmatched with any beach snorkelling we have done.

Our family of 4 (children aged 13 and 8) easily shared a beachside villa. Not that we spent much time there!!

It was especially nice for our teenage son who often has little to do on resorts unless he finds another boys his age - because he could wander the island and chat to staff, or walk to the Ocean Play area and amuse himself with a variety of water sports.

Starfish found on the beach, a fishing charter to catch big fish, a casual walk on white sands.. we skipped into a relaxed ease within hours of arriving and tears formed in our eyes as the farewell song was sung on the last day.

Our biggest sadness is July next year is already fully booked! We can see why.

Our best family holiday so far. We will be back - when we can get in!!

Vinaka Vomo. A magical holiday.

Bula bjr80 and family, what an absolute delight to read how much you all enjoyed your time at VOMO. It's great to read how easily you slipped into the pace of island life and everyone in the family found their stride. Fortunately its summer weather year round in Fiji, so when you are able to find your way back to us, the VOMO family will enthusiastically be waiting to welcome you. In the meantime, until we see you again (Sote Tale) take good care and vinaka for taking the time to review us.

Vomo Island is a stunningly beautiful island and a truly special resort. We truly enjoyed our time here and would absolutely recommend the resort.

We especially enjoyed the food and drinks and looked forward to the changing menu every day. The daily snorkeling tours were also very nice and the Hobie Cats were so much fun to take out.

There were a few things that we felt could be improved to make this a truly outstanding resort. The biggest issue for us was the beach. We had (possibly mistakenly) considered this a beach resort and while there is a beautiful beach, there are absolutely no beach chairs or service on the beach. As we did not book a beachfront villa, this made relaxing on the beach difficult. You may order lunch on the beach but this is table service only. I would recommend adding some loungers and umbrellas on the beach for guests.

My only other comment would be that the adult pool is far nicer than the family pool. As we traveled with kids, they were disappointed when they saw the adult pool.

Overall, we had an amazing trip. The natural beauty of Vomo Island along with the amazing food and service made this a wonderful end to our vacation,

I am sorry I have just logged in and seen this message. Vomo is a large island and he only time we really saw kids was a breakfast at the pool. The rocks bar has the big adults pool, and restaurant,. Vomo is fantastic highly recommend. You may have already been there

Although Fiji is is in the tropics and insects are part of the ecosystem, VOMO does not suffer from having a lot of insects. The resort has a carefully controlled plan for managing mosquitoes and uses appropriate sprays and minimising methods, to keep these at bay. VOMO supplies personal insect repellant as well as insect spray in each villa as a precaution.

The VOMO speedboat is a catamaran twin hull so the ride is pretty smooth and much more stable than water taxis. Shouldn't be any concern with children.
