Absolute paradise, cannot recommend enough. Everything from the minute we arrived was perfect from the beautiful welcome to the rooms, activities and the food. Best of all was the amazing staff who went over and above to make sure we enjoyed our holiday. We particularly loved eating at Nuku Marau, the singing and music at all the venues, the activity boys Easy, Nathan, Lori, the excellent service by Lucy, Terry, Mickey, Tima and everyone we met. We will definitely come back!

Castaway Island Resort was FANTASTIC!! We traveled there as a family (wife and two daughters ages 10 and 12). The details: SERVICE: The moment our boat arrived, we were greeted by a dozen staff members singing and welcoming us to their island. The staff was friendly, smiling and the service was exceptional throughout our stay. FOOD: There are three restaurants total. There is one main restaurant with a buffet and menu options for each meal, there is a lunch/dinner restaurant that mostly serves pizza and there is a dinner adults only restaurant. The meals were great, the pizza was excellent. They have some very talented musicians on staff providing music during each meal. We did not opt for the meal plan because it just seemed too expensive and I was right. Over our 5 day stay, we spent about $1,000 less than the meal plan by just ordering food off the menu. THE ISLAND: The island is tiny, this resort is the only thing on the island which I thought was super cool. You can walk around the entire island at low tide and they have a little bush walk trail to hike up to the peak of the island. It was a great little slice of heaven. The island has a spectacular reef just off the beach that is full of marine life. It was a great place to snorkel with the kids. They loved it! ACTIVITIES: The resort doesn’t nickel and dime you for snorkeling, paddle boarding, kayaking, sailing, it’s all free to use which I appreciate immensely! They do charge for some premium activities, Village visit, Island visit, Scuba, surfing, etc. We did a few activities which I’ll summarize below: SHELL VILLAGE VISIT: A short boat ride to a neighboring island where some of the staff grew up. It’s a small village of 600 residents. We toured the school, met the chief, walked around and bought some crafts the village women and kids were selling. Overall it was a nice experience for my kids to see where other people grow up and go to school. MONURIKI ISLAND: We booked a private boat to take us to the island where Castaway was filmed. The boat is tiny and the seas were rough which made for an interesting experience and had me questioning my decision several times. But once we got there, we had the entire island to ourselves to hike, snorkel and enjoy a picnic lunch they packed for us. It was definitely worth it!! THE ROOMS: We stayed in Bure 16 which is an oceanfront Bure. It was on the North side of the island facing the main beach. The Bure was perfect for a family of 4. Not much privacy though so if you’re traveling with teens, I think it could be a bit of a challenge to give them the privacy they typically want when showering/changing/etc. I would avoid any of the Bures that are on the beach facing south. The wind was absolutely ripping on that side of the island making that beach unusable. KIDS CLUB: We travelled during the winter so most of the Aussies and Kiwis there on holiday were there with pre-school age kids. This meant that our kids, ages 10 and 12, were the oldest kids there so there really wasn’t a kids club that appealed to them since they were much older than most of the other kids. I think they have a tween kids club available which may have been fund for them if there were more kids their age. The little kids looked to be well taken care of by the loving staff and seemed thoroughly entertained at all hours! We had a great stay and would absolutely recommend this resort to friends and family!

Amazing resort. Best family holiday we've had. The location is stunning and the staff are so warm and welcoming, they really made our stay special. I don't think there is much I can say to fault the place. Our kids enjoyed it and I felt that at 7 and 10 there was so much they could do. We did a few trips from the island which were fun. Snorkelling straight off the island was safe for them and they could easily make their way around the island. We hope to be back some time!

Once again we had a very good time in this fantastic resort. We spent one week. We were 10 adults in 3 bure. We enjoyed the beaches, coral, the warm welcome and the kindness of all the staff. We dove at least 7 time. 3 of us trained for the Padi with success. We had a very good holidays in this peace of paradise. Warmly recommended.

Our family can't say enough about this place. When they say "Bula!" and "welcome home" they truly mean it. The staff really does make this feel like a special home. We were very sad to leave and are already scheming to get back as soon as we can. Our kids loved the kids club and the pool. They made many international friends while we were here. The also loved the buffet: especially breakfast and dinner. If you are not a VERY picky eater, you should be delighted with the options. My wife is a vegetarian (no fish, no eggs) and there were plenty of options for her to be satisfied. There is live music at every meal and these Fijians can SING! I loved the woodfired pizza, thin crust. Get the "Tivolo", if you like meat and spice! The reef snorkling right in front of the resort is some of the best and easiest we've ever accessed. Kids loved it and weren't scared doing it. You can easily get to outer reef snorkling or SCUBA or other islands and water activities if you want to each day as well. If you surf, you can get a boat daily from the island to all the breaks near Tavarua and Namotu. It's not cheap, but it's worth it for a surfer. The best part is just how genuinely warm and welcoming the Fijians are. Truly an incredible people, as warm as the water with smiles bright as the sun. If you find that your kind of relaxation necessitates more quiet, I might not recommend this resort. There are lots of families and young children and if kid sounds (laughing, crying, squeals of both delight and frustration) interrupt your peace this may not be the place for you. If you are a family, though, or children bring you joy, you'll love it. We won't EVER forget our time here.

From the moment we arrived at Castaway Island, we were in heaven. The location, island and views from every angle are stunning, the staff are fantastic, the food was great and the accommodation very clean and comfortable for our family of four. We had planned this trip for a year and went with 2 other families. It was a holiday of a lifetime. Specifics - you cannot get sick of the views of the beaches, pools and vegetation. The all day beach activities like snorkeling on the reef (epic), kayaking around the island (exquisite) and lazying on beach chairs never got old. The water is crystal clear and we saw so many amazing tropical fish amongst stunning coral it was mind blowing. But the staff, the STAFF! Nothing is too much, they are probably the standout and I have to make specific mention of Amini (so talented and friendly), Dave at the swim up bar (outstanding cocktail maker and lovely to chat to), Eazy (his energy, patience and love for looking after the kids is truly beautiful), Semi and Nuemi at the main restaurant (excellent coffee and outstanding service), Joe (who saw us at our Bure everyday to say hi and check everything was ok), Ben (at the beach counter, there is nothing he can't do), Lucy (she seemed to be everywhere and knows her wine, cocktails and menus inside out - loved her sense of humour as well). Lifelong memories were made on this trip to Castaway Island and the Morrison family will visit again. Do yourself a favour and try the Prawn Linguini at least once!

From the moment we were welcomed onto the island with song and smiles, all the way through to being given a special breakfast on our way out to meet an early morning boat back to the mainland a week later, we had such a special time at Castaway. Our lovely bure was in the trees close to the (better) North beach, and we loved plopping ourselves down onto beach loungers (when we had bagged them early enough…). Scuba diving, waterskiing, snorkeling and a trip to the village on nearby Mololo Levu island were the main activities we loved. (The only one we didn’t enjoy was the mean-spirited and self-appointed pool policeman/bar manager, whose ‘I don’t care’ catchphrase is now a family catchphrase. We stopped using the pool.) Apart from Mr ‘I don’t care’, the Castaway team were super-friendly, lovely and helpful at all times. Thanks especially to Joe the dive master and Paul in the restaurant team, who we all loved - and the music at every mean was just so good. Our week flew by, and we loved every minute of it. Vinaka!

What a trip!!! Castaway Island truely is a beautiful spot and just what we needed for our family holiday. Lots of water activities, great food and lazing around in the hammocks drinking cocktails. From the moment we were greeted on the white sand by the singing staff they all went out of their way to make our stay more enjoyable. Big shoutout to Paul who was our ever accomodating waiter who greeted us with a big smile and hug for the kids every time we saw him - nothing was ever too big or too smile and we always looked forward to our chats each morning... also Eazy (Izzy?) who our kids just loved what a ball of energy he was on the go all day but always had time to scoot up a palm tree and retrieve a coconut for the waiting masses below... The island is truely beautiful but it is the staff who make your stay truely exceptional...

We had a great time at Castaway Island. It was a long wait after our original trip was postponed due to Covid but it was worth the wait. My first thing to do when we got there was have a swim in the pool and I also had a corona virus cocktail made by Dave after reading another review on here and it became a firm favourite of mine! My kids didnt really get into the kids club but they did manage to make friends with Izzy (who started the day we arrived). He was so patient with them especially with their numerous requests to find and open coconuts! And Joe who didnt even work in kids club, he worked in housekeeping (and won employee of the month while we were there), every time my kids saw him they would just run to him and have chats with him, he was an awesome guy. Everything about this place is really great, the highlight for me though was the trip to Modariki (where Castaway was filmed) and stopping at the sand bar on the way back, that was such a beautiful place, just being able to jump off the boat and heaps of fish swimming around you and the colour of the beautiful water was amazing! Definitely though its the people that make this place , Ive been to Fiji a few times and never have I wanted to go and say goodbye and thankyou personally to so many of the staff, all of the staff at Castaway, even if they were the maintenance people, they would always acknowledge you when you walked past them. They are definitely a great team. Great people on the most amazing island - thankyou Castaway we hope to be back one day.
