STAYED 8 Nights mid November 2023 Location/Environment....GREAT People/Staff...... GREAT Food.... GREAT Buildings/Infrastructure..Tired/Dated We did get a CAT 2-3 cyclone hit and not a problem with any buildings. If The Intercontinental standard of Infrastructure was built on this island let's remember it would cost triple the price to stay. We'd go back.

It was Sebastian's first time but I had been to Mana twice before in 2002 and 2003 so alot has changed. We spent 5 nights in November 2023. To compare it to accommodation in Denarau is unfair, our room 328 was clean but definitely needing refurbishment but the beautiful beach and ocean makes up for it as you will NOT get this in Denarau. It is a big resort and spread out over a large area, previous reviews have mentioned that money isnt getting put back into the place and its obvious but not important if you have realistic expectations for an outer island. The bed was lovely for us who prefer firmer mattresses. Our housemaids came daily and did a great job with a friendly attitude. We were there for Cyclone Mal and this is where the Mana team were amazing! We felt safe and they provided meals due to the restaurants needing to close. Within 24hrs the place was tidied and it looked like there had never been any evidence of plant debris scattered about. Truly efficient given the preparation needed. We had breakfast and dinner in our package - buffet breakfast and dinner was the standard stuff and adequate, a few theme nights for dinner apart from the interruption of Cyclone Mal. Lunch was additional costs - big servings so 1 meal can be shared between 2 adults. We don't drink alcohol but the mocktails were yummy and we had no issues with unbottled cold drinking water that was readily available. Factor in additional costs like the return boat trip and lunch. We had taken some snacks over with us which helped cut costs like midnight cravings e.g. chocolate and potato chips. We didn't find the adult only pool great, the main pools were clearer and you could have it pretty much to yourself at times. Would we return to Mana, I personally wouldn't as there's definitely more resorts I'm Fiji to try! Would I recommend Mana; it would depend on the reasons people wanted to go and whether they were couples, solo, or families. Cost wise it is reasonable, shop around for deals, I booked via Booking.com . Happy holidays! …

My 94 years old dad and I went there for 8 days the Fijian staff were so caring towards him and they made sure he was safe at all times with a big friendly arm around him in the golf cart. The food was varied and delicious, lots of choice and other top notch restaurants for a little more on the meals package price. Yes it is an old resort but they are trying to update it all the time. The staff are so friendly and village people so happy and relaxed. Things get done in Fijian time. If booking a spa package make sure you talk to the spa as sometimes reception may forget the booking. I did the jetski snorkling trip it was invigorating. the Snorkling is beautiful. I really enjoyed the trip. the Ferry to and from the island takes a good hour 45 minutes. So don't plan to be in a hurry. …

The island itself is one of the most scenic locations we have seen. The resort on the other hand is very tired and dated. Lots of broken things in our room. Paths need a lot of work, broken tiles around the pool that are also very slippery, instead there is cheap rubber non slip mats used as a make shift path that are too hot to walk on. Lots of OHS issues from Australian standards (exposed wiring, nails ect). Pool seats are very dirty as were the baby seats in the eating area every time we went to eat. Food at the buffet was just ok quality, lots of choice though, great dessert. Free kayaks and snorkelling gear were good and a walk around the island is well worth it. Again the location is amazing but the owners need to spend some money updating and maintaining the resort and better cleaning procedures are needed. For a resort that hosts survivor it doesn’t appear any of the revenue is put back into the resort or island which is a shame. Not really worth the $600aud a night when the quality is similar to a caravan park. …

We had an exceptional stay at Mana Island Resort. It exceeded all of our expectations - the staff, the food and the entertainment made our one week stay unforgettable. We stayed at Mana Island Resort 13 years ago and were impressed with the renovations and extensions they've done since then. We loved the night time entertainment by their musician and the variety of food every night at the buffet was incredible. The complimentary yoga sessions with Tonya overlooking South Beach which was very memorable. Child friendly resort with lots of entertainment for both kids & adults. We were initially concerned by some of the negative reviews on here however we had a completely different experience. We can't wait to return!!

Has some great activities and food is nice. However, requires a lot of maintenance, staff rarely clean your rooms even when asked, we had bags lost despite having tags, resort needs a lot of maintenance, including the rooms. Staff look overworked and overtired. Personal hygiene is a issue resulting in our wedding party to go down with gastro. The snorkelling was the main highlight, the spa and massages too. The food at the buffet was a hit and miss at times. The walks and scenery were great too. Even though this location is shot for the survivor series ( over millions of dollars) none is used to help with the resort. The wifi cost $80 per person, we have also had items stolen from our rooms including sunscreen and money, when their room was locked.

We thought we would try somewhere new this trip but it wasn't the trip we planned. To start with we had a late check in (6.30pm) as we arrived by water taxi and the women who signed us in must have had a really bad day as it wasn't the BULA welcome we expected. It was like she was reading a script. The Bure 411 - we have to say was lovely. It wasn't 5 star but there was plenty of room, the bed was great and the aircon worked well. We were 10 seconds from the beach which we had to ourselves most of the week. The beach was lovely, the chairs - old and needed replacement. The housekeeping staff were lovely and cleaned our bure well. Food - we had breakfast and dinner included - breakfast was great - no issues, the problem started when you had the buffet. It was horrible. The food was dry, the meat you couldn't cut, it was mass produced food. We did have a choice of going to the cafe which you could choose of the menu and the food was acceptable there. The grounds such as the paths needed work and repair. It was hard at night walking down to dinner in the dark that you didn't fall over on the paths that were cracked and had holes in them. Dog's do roam and there is droppings on by the beach that smell. Very little I would say has been repaired in both the grounds and the bures. When speaking to staff - no money goes back into the resort. The jetty is full of nails sticking up as well as the walk to the dive shops had all the planks of wood rotting away. While we were there, there was filming going on - not for survivor but for some new show and there were people all over the place with radios and golf carts. Places were locked off and you couldn't go to some places. Again not what you expect on an island holiday. There are little to no activities that most of the other islands have and what they do have is ever expensive, in fact a trip to Castaway Island would cost you $1400FJ. A snorkelling trip from $80 to 180 for 2 hours. The guys in the shop where the snorkelling is done are friendly though and will help. For us - the island was too big and had lost its way. The overseas owners don't seem to care too much about the staff or the resort. Most of the staff looked sad and referred to themselves as slaves, which isn't nice. I guess the owners get paid a lot from the TV channels filming but this isn't what I come to Fiji for and it was a real disappointment - we won't be back. …

Mana Island Resort & Spa exceeded all our expectations. This island itself is paradise. The staff are fantastic, friendly and helpful. The food was very good, with breakfast and dinner included in the package it is great value. The snorkelling is just steps away from the resort and the equipment is great quality. The resort entertainment is excellent, there is always something to do. The island Bure which we stayed in was rustic with a lovely outdoor shower, a little dated but clean and tidy. Overall it was a terrific family holiday, I cannot wait to go back!

Plenty of food (sometimes too much!), lovely beaches and snorkeling, Davida made the best omlettes at breakfast, nice pool. There was plenty of good quality snorkelling equipment so didn't need to take our own.
