Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This was Literally a hotel from hello. Our room was unhygienic and dirty. Toilets didn't work. Air conditioning didn't work. There was black mold inside the room. They didnt have any other available. So, the manager Maerani said she will reduce the cost of the rooms. But on day of checkout, they charged us in full. All the staff were lovely. They said the Japanese owners refuse to maintain the property as they have a contract with Survivor for another 3 years. They are ashamed to answer the same maintenance questions to all the guests. Avoid this overpriced hellhole. Not worth the trouble.

My family and I recently visited Fiji Islands and we were there for a few weeks. We were lucky in the last week of our trip that we were able to book a few days at Mana Island which we had never been to. My kids are HUGE survivor fans, so they really wanted to go hike and explore the Island. When we got to the Island, we were greeted with a warm and loving welcome and immediately felt special. The staff were very friendly and made us feel very welcome. We especially loved hanging out at the lounge are after dinner where we were able to have delicious cocktails and listen to great music, all while our kids played pool and table tennis. It was a great family experience and we highly recommend. We will definitely be going back to Mana Island every time we visit.

Arrived first day after Survivor crews left and they weren't quite ready for us. Room was clean but tired. Beds are quite firm but we asked for a topper and that helped. Staff were friendly and helpful although somewhat jaded from the experience with Survivor crews - general consensus was that a six month session with TV people was not the best of times for the staff. It was also quite obvious the Japanese owners of the resort have let the place go a bit because they have the guaranteed Survivor contract. Overall pretty good stay for the price, mostly great staff (special mention to Steven at the pool bar)

After a critical review last year I can thankfully say that we saw great improvements on our family holiday this year. We came back for the beaches, and with low expectations. With both breakfast and dinner included the offer was attractive for a growing family. We ate at the buffet each night. Always good, and mostly excellent. An $80pp snorkeling trip was well worth it. Only frustration was very bad communication between reservations and resort. We booked directly and changed our booking a couple of months before arrival. Despite two confirmations the info didnt make it to the front desk, causing delays on arrival and check out. Glorious beaches, staff friendly and food great. Happy campers!

My daughter become very sick in the week leading up to our stay that we had prepaid for. We requested a date change or refund they responded with just and cut and paste of their ‘policy.’ They wouldn’t respond to any other questions and ignored every other email or phone call I made. To not try and book a holiday here

3 day in got propositioned by the plumber while I was around the pool. I complained, the GM saw me and spoke to him. They came and saw me the next day with a fruit platter and wine and said he was escorted off the island. Didn’t feel safe after that.

We spent 7 nights on Mana Island with friends (4 Adults/no children). We found the island itself and the beaches very nice with Sunset beach our favorite. We stayed in a beachfront bure and thought it was definitely a four star bure. The food was average but not bad. All staff were friendly and some excelled in taking care of us. We travel a lot and have learned to be open minded and expect that some things are not always the way we imagine it to be. We focus on the positives to have a great holiday. I am writing this because there were so many negative comments on Mana Island here on TripAdvisor. I believe these were unmet expectations of people. Mana doesn’t claims to be a 5 star resort but a 4 star. Yes, perhaps there are some maintenance issues but I have seen these in a 5 star resort as well. Mana is not a new resort therefore some areas look a bit tired. If you don’t worry about that sort of thing you will enjoy Mana.

We stayed at Mana Resort over Christmas 2022. We are fairly laid back travellers, and whilst we did read a lot of negative reviews, we were willing to take the chance. We stayed five nights and were surprised to receive an upgrade to the Premium Beach Bure which comes with a plunge pool and are on the beachfront. These rooms are a short distance from the main resort area, you can call up and get a buggy to collect you/drop you off, however we chose to walk everywhere and it wasnt a problem. The room was large, the pool and views were amazing. Yes the room was a bit dated and could use a refresh, however the bed was comfortable and the shower had the BEST water pressure ever! The dive team were amazing, so thorough and they undertook a brief on land before we departed. The dives were fun and the gear was in good condition. Joe, our dive guide, was knowledgeable and great to chat with. I would say the snorkelling on the north beach was some of the best we have encountered in Fiji (we have stayed at most of the resorts in the Mamanucas) - there was a lot of varied fishlife and some good coral. The food was on par to what we have received at many of the island resorts - we did the buffet breakfast, a la carte lunch and dinners, however there were also buffet dinners on offer. The staff in the restaurants were great - I really suggest you take some time to chat and get to know them. Both pool areas were in great locations overlooking the beach - the main pool/bar area needed a little maintenance (just small things like a few tiles falling off walls here and there, some broken loungers, no glasses on hand for cocktails and these had to be hunted down), but nothing too drastic. Mana Resort is a bit larger than what we would normally go to, and there is definitely a lot on offer if you want to do any activities (snorkel trips, hikes, kids club etc). The location and beaches were great, and with some repairs and maintenance the resort would be amazing. We would happily go back and experience it again.

Once again Mana showed us a great time. Excellent diving with the team at Aquatrek and great service all round. A beautiful, peaceful Island that lets you be as busy or as relaxed as you choose. Pristine waters and friendly staff under the watchful eye of Nino. Make Mana a must do.
