It's good to review an excellent stay. We wanted peace & quiet so chose Tropica. The welcome was typical Fijian & sincere. With 24 bure, half having a plunge pool- essential for the laid back. They are fairly private, spacious, clean & with all amenities. The outside shower is great! Aircon & fans keep you cool & the louver windows allow free flow of light & air. Our lovely maid made up the room daily.
Food, there are several options for full, half or no board. We chose no board to eat less & not be tied to a meal time. Food is pricey but worth it, this isn't an eat from the buffet resort. Individually cooked to order & extremely tasty. Quality is top class & there are some items for the adventurous eater. Breakfast is included, a simple buffet and daily menu of individually cooked meals. The poolside menu has the basics like hamburgers, fish & chips etc, well priced & delicious
Daily activities are arranged but we were in kick back mode. A disappointment was the water-sport equipment, the kayaks are okay but the SUP's terrible & this can be improved. Many extra activities come with a price, but there are enough free activities to keep busy.
The staff are lovely, things move slower that we are used to but it did not impact on our stay- except coffee, that must come quickly. Staff are genuinely happy and want their guests to be happy & relaxed. They succeeded.
Some reviews criticized Happy Hour, we didn't & were regulars. The staff are quick to serve another round, just ask.

Bula Dave C - a big vinaka vaka levu for your review and lovely comments on the Resort and the Staff. We are pleased you enjoyed all the facilities and we'll look into the SUP's as they were mostly all replaced only a few months ago. Thanks also for your comments on our Complimentary Happy Hour - this is appreciated as we've had a few new staff join the team over the past few months and we are always looking to improve. The Tropica Tribe look forward to welcoming you back in the near future.

We visited Tropica for 5 nights at the end of Feb 2020 and stayed in a beach front bure with a private plunge pool. We were greeted by the amazing staff who were so friendly and happy the whole time we were there. It was such a great experience to settle in to 'Fiji Time' and just relax an unwind. The room was clean and spacious with plenty of space to unpack and hang clothes. A small fridge and basic tea & coffee was provided. The view across the private plunge pool, through the palm trees to the ocean never grew old.

The quality of the food served at breakfast and dinner was excellent, and there was a decent range of drinks. Plenty of snorkels and kayaks available to enjoy the amazing clear blue waters and reefs around the resort. Additional motorized activities / excursions were available for extra cost also but we didn't do any of these as the waters surrounding the resort were so good we didn't feel the need to travel too far.

It was my wife's birthday while we were there, and we came back to our room to find an amazing floral display on the bed spelling out 'Happy Birthday', and at dinner the staff danced and sang Happy Birthday and brought out a really impressive cake that the chef had made for her. It was so nice of them.

We were treated amazingly by the staff the whole time we were there and we were so sad to leave. I hope we can return to Tropica some day. Vinaka

We stayed at the resort for 7 days and every single moment was uplifting with the friendly staff always willing to lend a helping hand. The singing welcome with flags took us by surprise but continued throughout our stay. Our Sanctuary Bure Room was very spacious and fully equipped with a small fridge, coffee, tea , hot chocolate bar and both inside and outside showers. The outside pool area was a respite enjoyed by my husband every morning ,reading, listening to the birds chirping and taking in the stillness of the mornings.

I was woken up with a beautiful flower arrangement on my birthday by Marika, the resident self taught florist who remembered I loved flower arranging. He also decorated my breakfast table with a birthday sign made out of palm leaves. Talei and her team came out singing happy birthday and Chef Mohamed Shamim had plated a cheesecake for the occasion. Very emotional!

The special birthday dinner prepared by the highly skillful chef was served by Sunni in the canopy bure that was decorated by Talei and her team, was spectacular. We got serenaded by Tuevai, Sunni and Ziggy strumming on their guitars! Returning to our room we were greeted by a lovely birthday towel arrangement on the bed strewn with tropical flowers. What an evening to remember!

The couples massage by Adi and Chia were divine.

Lastly a special thank you to:

Desmond for arranging tours for us. Our trip to the sandbar was a delight and an experience. Your customer relations is first rate.

Sunni for your heart smile, your lovely singing voice, for professionally serving us the special celebratory dinner and playing the guitar and for accompanying us to the Sandbar.

Tuvei for his sense of humour, for the palm hats for my grandchildren and for entertaining us singing on the guitar. We miss your wittiness.

Talei, the food and beverage manager, for always smiling and running an efficient dining area. She made our stay so enjoyable. Thank you for organizing the village trip with the speaker. It was heartfelt.

Mela, Lucy, Sim, Sem, Kurt and Tara for making our dining experience rather enjoyable.Mela and Lucy, your laughter is contagious!

Kudos to Victor, the manager, Anna, Jone and the front desk staff for promptly resolving any issues with a smile.

Ziggy for making me comfortable on the kayak and entertaining us with your guitar.

Finally, we were so emotional leaving this serene, friendly resort and still see Talei, Victor and others waiving goodbye until we disappeared into the horizon.

For our 4th visit we choose a resort closer to mainland. The main bonus is the short travel (45min with water taxi or ferry). Main drawback is the daily boat, helicopter and guest traffic and the reefs around Mamanuca show this as a result.
As an adult only luxury resort - the rating depends on expectation and previous experiences one had. Overall a great place to relax and recharge. However, a bit overpriced. The last two Covid years had an impact (like everywhere) on the state of infrastructure and state of affaires. We did visit at the start of the rebound, so I am sure everything will only get better again.
Super friendly, fantastic and helpful staff all around. No ask too much. The staff is the real value of this resort.
Food was nice and good variety even for our 10 nights stay, wine list was adequate but NZ wine heavy. Ran out of our favourites during the stay and we had to wait 3 days for replenishment. Cocktails were a bit weak on the alcohol side. We enjoyed the 5pm complementary drink and canapés each afternoon.
We enjoyed Pool Bure 17, seemed to be the most private of all (except some Garden Bures). Bure 17 would benefit from a shade/umbrella to protect from afternoon sun blasting onto the veranda. Pool filter needed fixing twice during our stay. Aircon in bure a bit noisy at night if above level 2. Bure offers all amenities needed. Outdoor shower could benefit from some better cleaning (leaves etc).
As experienced divers we have seen some fantastic reefs in Fiji but the Mamanuca’s are not amongst them. The resorts activity guides need to get a better understanding on reef protection and need to be more pro-active in informing guests how to avoid standing onto the few reminding good corals, they need to inform guests better on how to snorkel safely and give the guests a better understanding of reef protection. We enjoyed the kayaks, paddle boards available free of charge and there were many other activities each day targeted to mostly first-time visitors of Fiji.
All in all, you get what you expected, but the bottom line lacks that little extra to justify the hefty AUD600 a night price tag or the luxury escape rating

This beautiful small resort has no tv, radio or cars and does not allow children so it is the perfect place for a peaceful authentic Fijian getaway. From the moment your boat approaches you are greeted by the happy smiling flag waving welcome party. They know your first names, give you a welcome drink and take care of your luggage. The bures are spacious, comfortable and furnished in a rustic Fijian style. Some have a plunge pool which very welcome in the heat of the afternoon. Wifi is only available in the restaurant and around the pool but it is very pleasant to sit on a sun lounger and sip a refreshing drink while you delete you emails or post to social media. Perhaps the best feature of the resort is the staff. Fijians surely must be the happiest people on earth, they are always smiling, always remember your name and cannot do enough for you. Fijians love to sing: a drum is beaten and staff appear from everywhere, they sing to welcome new arrivals, to farewell departures and sometimes in the restaurant one or two waiters will join the resident singer for a song before going back to their work. The resort does not have to the entertainment facilities of the bigger resorts but there is still plenty to do. You can go snorkelling, kayaking or fish feeding. You can take a sunset cruise to get the perfect photo or go to the world famous Cloud Nine surf break for a few waves.
All in all a very pleasant relaxing holiday.

Dave & Annie

We spent 7 nights at Tropica and experienced an intimate, friendly, and outright amazing experience. From arrival to departure, the staff made sure you feel comfortable and present you with Fijian hospitality. Suni, Vira, Eva and the reception staff are ready to assist you in creating the perfect vacation. You can relax as much as you want or explore and be active as much as you want. Our booking at the Beachfront Bure gave us amazing view of the beach which is only steps away. Also as part of our booking, staff would bring a pre booked drink and hors d'oeuvres daily.

For those wondering, this is not a big resort, however that allows for an intimate experience with staff and the resort. Staff takes the time to know your name, and offer experiences that best suit what you are looking for. There is a daily board of activities offered such as snorkeling excursions. There is a small store onsite that offers basic toiletries, medicine, and snacks.

Dining is limited to two locations that share the same menu and kitchen. The variety of options may be limited, but the quality more than makes up for it. Sami at the Lako Mai Bar was always ready to provide his recommendations for both dinner and drinks. Definitely try the Taste of Fiji platter, but be warned that is quite a large meal. As part of our pre-booked Celebration package, we also had a dinner on the pier to celebrate a birthday. Thanks to Fina, Osueu, and Eliki for assisting in making this dinner special and unforgettable with a personal touch. And don't forget to try the amazing daily drinks specials made by Lucy.

Sherri and the spa staff is amazing and will definitely help you feel your best. The products used in the treatments are also available for sale at the resort.

The staff will be sure to share their culture with patrons and offer Kava tasting, singing, and dancing on scheduled nights throughout the week.

The rooms do not have TVs, wi-fi, or even a landline making it perfect for disconnecting. But if you feel the need to be connected, wi-fi is offered at the pool , and dining area. LTE service reception does reach in the rooms if you have a Vodafone SIM card as well.

Tropica did not disappoint and is proof that the basics well delivered makes all the difference. We look forward to returning.

Vinaka Vakalevu!

Most outstanding welcoming on arrival at the resort and even better on departure.
Visibly high staff to patron ratio.
Staff always politely greeting, welcoming, approachable, offering to be of assistance. (Includes maintenance and other back of house staff) Restaurant staff and activities staff were on top of their game. Kayaking, snorkelling and coconut husking were the favourites.

The environment / atmosphere in common areas promoted mingling with other guests and staff. Community / family feel.

Rooms were more that suitable, window insect screens were intact, fans, aircon, indoor and outdoor showers was a nice touch. There were no mosquitoes around, but we did notice mosquito repellent coils provided in the room.

Definitely one of the best resorts we’ve stayed at.

Honeymoon stay. Tropica is a small and intimate resort. The staff know you by name. What is important is what Tropica does not the have.

No children
No TVs
No wifi in rooms
No jet skis

It’s just a super chilled place.

The resort has only reopened since April 2022 and is still ironing out some maintenance and wrinkles that don’t effect having a great holiday. The reef off the resort is badly bleached. However there are lots of fish. We took the resort boat trip to Garden reef for snorkeling and that was awesome. Also I can recommend the sunset boat trip.

There is a Fijian feast and Java ceremony and singing (warning: audience participation) on Friday nights so ensure that your stay has a Friday in it. And try the Pina Coladas!

I can also recommend that you avoid Manamuca express ( not associated with Tropica) for Denaru to Malolo transfer. We paid for transfer service and their inflexibility with timing meant that we couldn’t use them.

Bula to Desmond and the staff there
Loved our stay

Words cannot clearly express how much we loved staying at this resort.

Allowing only a limited amount of guests means it is a very personal experience.

By the second day all the staff knew and addressed us on a first name basis.

The staff where fantastic and the natural Beauty of this island is incredible.

If you like big resorts with multiple restaurants, big screen TV's and unlimited WIFI connection where the staff treat you like a number then do not come to this resort.

The accomodation was private, simple, clean and very comfortable.

If you and your partner are looking for a Romantic escape and want to escape the busy (noisy)world and rekindle your appreciating of nature then I would highly recommend this resort.

Also compared to other resorts (particularly in Australia ) it is fantastic Value for money.

There are plenty of activities you can choose to do (snorkelling, reef visits, Kayaking, stand up paddle boarding ) or you can do nothing.

My wife actually cried when the staff sang their local goodbye song as we left.

We will be back!

Damien (From Sunshine Coast , Australia )

The staff, service and views make stays here memorable, the entire team truly understands creating a connection with their guests. The lack of televisions and wifi throughout gave us the opportunity to enjoy our environment, relax and escape from the frenzied world of the city. We spend 6 nights here on our honeymoon and I'd recommend that to anyone! We stayed in the Vale Levu Bure and booked a special that includes a couples massage and nightly glasses of wine and canapes at sunset. We loved our pier dinner, especially the personal service from Ben. Stand-out staff members were Viktor, Lucy and Eva as well. The hotel is a little rustic and is coming back to life with landscaping and opening their 2nd bar/restaurant, but the staff didn't make it noticeable.
