We were there for a two nights stay and we experienced the most convenient location central to any government offices. The hospital is about 200 meters ( approx) and right on the Main Street.
The staff led by ( Manageress) Pasepa prepared the best breakfast and dinner of the day!
Rooms are clean and great lounge to sit around and just watch some canoeing at sea and Citizens walking to town and nearby Levuka village.
Convenient Carpark in front of our room and an area to sit and enjoy kava I the evening.
They keep some historical framed pictures of Levuka on the lounge and dinning walls.
Its staffs really make a homely environment for their guests and were keen to assist for information.
Well done Pasepa and team. We will certainly revisit when we can.

I spent 2 nights here on business and I must say that everything was excellent. The location of the hotel is very close to Levuka town and the awesome view of sunrise from the cosy ocean view room is just spectacular. I would definitely recommend this hotel to everyone who is coming into Levuka. 😍

Such a quaint and neat waterfront accommodation on Levuka's main Beach Street, quiet and serene. A home away from home truly. With the breeze across the Koro Sea, the room is clean and spacious, breezy enough that makes the aircon unit in the room redundant, at least this was the case with me. Staff are friendly and always good returning to New Mavida Lodge each time business draws me back to Fiji's first capital!

Great Lodge in the old capital of Fiji.
Clean and cozy rooms. We highly recommend this lodge to everyone.
Comfortable bed, amazing ocean view from terrace. The service was very good, and our stay was so relaxing.

I had a wonderful stay at the Wew Mavida Lodge. Great location with a wonderful view, comfortable rooms and Joanne and her staff went out of their way to make sure we had a fantastic stay. Thanks Joanne!

We arrived at 6:30pm and went to check in only for the manager to tell us that she had given our rooms away to other people. She didn't care that we'd just travelled over 12hours to get there and that we were foreign. She just walked out & left us there, in a strange town, in the dark to fend for ourselves. We had booked 2 rooms over a year in advance, and had reconfirmed our bookings only 2 months beforehand. We later found family who were organising somewhere for us to stay & then the manager offered us a place to stay with her 'friend', which we would have to pay for. She was horrible and her manner was absolutely disgusting, especially after trying to set us up with her friend, just to make her friend some money. My Aunty, Uncle and cousin arrived here the night before us and apparently the same thing nearly happened to them and they were lucky to get their room.

This hotel is much needed in a small town like Levuka. As i traveled alone i was very bored at the end of my stay. the rooms are very clean, beds are good and breakfast is lovely.
I would highly recommend this place if it wasn't for the lazy staff and lack of basic amenities.
Beware of the below:
-there are phones in the lodge but no connection
-a computer and apparent free WiFi but the computer doesn't work
-a sign saying free coconuts but whenever u ask there are non
-No Credit/card facilities so please take cash
-1 ATM in town that was out of order
-sky tv in room but they only work intermittently
Overall good place to sleep if you cut yourself off from the real world and travel 50years back in time.

The dorm is clean, bright and airy. It is mixed with separate male/female ablutions.
Breakfast consists of toast and tea. Centrally located with lovely ocean views across the ocean.
Amazing staff. Friendly and engaging.

It is a small hotel in a little town. The 2 story building is on the main waterfront street of the charming historic town of Levuka. Everything is in walking distance anyway.
Yes it is clean , has breakfast included in the price and sometimes the Wi-Fi is working . (not during our stay) . Since you don't expect anything more than that , yes, it is recommended. Just call Linda and pay 80 Fijian dollars

We arrived at the New Mavida Lodge following a long bus/ferry/bus ride from Suva. The views from the bus of the countryside north of Fiji were lovely and the only delays we experienced were for refuelling the ferry at the dock at Natovi Landing, but refreshments were available. The ferry, too, had a lounge and refreshments area. We arrived in Levuka after 6pm and were greeted by Pasepa. Just a hint - if you wish to eat your first evening meal at the New Mavida, make a prior arrangement. Pasepa suggested we could eat at the Whale's Tooth, but it was closed that evening for some reason. We ate subsequent evening meals at the New Mavida and enjoyed them very much. There are a few supermarkets in Levuka, so we had no trouble at all meeting our needs. Our room was very comfortable, with plenty of shelf space for our bits and pieces, a large bathroom with good shower, and a balcony - we were on the ground floor. The rooms were clean and well serviced. Our visit coincided with a rugby festival, which was a big attraction. It was the second year of what will be an annual festival. Teams came in from all over the island. The playing field was pretty muddy, so I don't know how they managed to distinguish who was playing for which side after the first quarter of an hour of play? We saw Pasepa and Linda, her offsider, head off in their Red Cross uniforms to be part of the festival - and she still had time to deal with guests and prepare evening meals! New Mavida also offered free internet access, using their computer. Breakfast is included in the very reasonable room charge - fruit, fruit juice, sausage and eggs, toast and jam, tea or coffee. We opted to fly back to Viti Levu - if you leave using the bus/ferry/bus option the departure is 4am, whereas departure from the hotel is 7.15am if you go by plane - the taxi was very reasonable. The plane returns to Nausori, so you will need to make your own arrangements from there. And Pasepa was there to make us breakfast before we left! We enjoyed the opportunity afforded by Ovalau to see Fijians in their own environment, not the tourist-influenced main centres - i.e. kids going to school, the community spirit, the charming villages that the bus stopped at on the way, the absorption with sport and the spiritual life.
