Our stay at the Taj Bengal was one fit for Kings and Queens! We were greeted with a wonderfully warm welcome from the reception and concierge staff, before being guided to our beautiful rooms filled with everything we needed for a comfortable and relaxing family holiday. We stayed on the Club Level, with staff welcoming us home after our tours into the streets of Kolkata and arranging bookings for us. Housekeeping staff made sure our rooms were kept to perfection and that we had everything we needed. Our family enjoyed dining at the hotel's various restaurants and bars throughout our stay, experiencing exceptional food, wine and service. A highlight of our stay was listening to the string quartet in the lobby after dinner each night - a magnificent addition to the hotel. The laundry service was exceptional. The staff at Taj Bengal are what makes it such a unique and magnificent place to stay, always friendly, always smiling, always wanting to help make our holiday at this hotel a wonderful experience. The staff at this hotel pay lots of attention to detail, and it was all the 'little' things that made our stay so memorable. The Taj Bengal is a world class hotel and I would highly recommend anyone visiting the beautiful city of Kolkata to stay here when they visit. I certainly hope I have the honour of staying at this hotel again in the future, a place I would call my 'Indian home'.

Its nothing short of a homely feeling at this property. The real asset for any hospitality business are their employees. And i feel the team has still managed to convince us that they are ahead of the game!
The checkin was very smooth twice this month and the upgrades are always sweet.
The breakfast was great and surely covid did cause some changes, we feel the property has still managed to provide a good variety in Cal 7.
Thanks to Mr Nizam for being so vigilant that i almost felt like he was always magically there when we needed anything.
Dinner at Sonargaon was good and prompt service. So always recommend this place.
Duty Manager Mr Tanmay on our second stay this week helped with the extension despite being told straight away by the staff at reception that it was not possible. Period.
I feel that could be avoided as some guests could have abrupt change of plans and a little genuine effort would always be appreciated.
Nevertheless the in room dinning, laundry, guest services were really prompt and always making us feel really comfortable.
Some concerns already were reported to maintenance (not worth mentioning here), but it was promptly resolved.
The security folks and mr jaswinder are really nice to talk to. Was a pleasure knowing so much about local places to try in kolkata.
Fayaz was helpful as always. And surely the young and energetic bimal da is always on his toes.
The covid has been hard on the service industry and you could find visible cracks, but make no mistake the employees here go above and beyond despite so many challenges in the current atmosphere.

New Years at Taj Bengal was a wonderful experience, all thanks to the exemplary service and the courteous staff.
A group of 16, of our friends, along with their respective family decided to stay at Taj Bengal on 31st Dec ’20 and 1st Jan ’21 to give a fresh start to the new year, and the decision was not regretted at all.
The first thing which we noticed was the sanitization of the hotel, and the protective measure the staff took as a shield against COVID-19. Regular sanitizing, maintaining proper distance, use of protective equipment was spot on.
On arrival at the hotel, we were welcomed and greeted by Smriti Mohandas, who very smoothly facilitated the check-in process and made sure we faced no issues, and considered all our requests. Upon request, we were provided free room upgrade as a gesture of goodwill. The rooms provided were form of true art and too spacious. I would like to mention the hospitality of Saurabh Mitra, the Front Office Manager, who attended us, and honoured us by arranging a meeting with the General Manager, Mr. Vijay Shrekent.
Mr. Vijay's friendly and courteous nature was a sign of his cheerful and generous personality.
The food served during our entire stay was, least to say, scrumptious, and was served hot and delicious each and every time, thanks to restaurant staff, Mr. Manoj, the restaurant manager, Ms. Ipsita, who hosted us, and Cruz Basu and Avik, because of whom we enjoyed our stay at the hotel.
We availed the services of spa and gymnasium as well, and had a relaxing time there.
With our stay coming to the end, last but not the least, Mr. Abhijeet Sarmah, too deserves a mention for ensuring smooth checkout. It was a lovely start to our year, and the hospitality shown by Taj deserves an applause.
This for sure is one of the most amazing stay we had.

So this was my second visit to this hotel and I checked in late at night and I must say the front office staff who did my check-in was really rude after asking for an upgrade of the room , he alloted me a room which was inter-connected after raising an issue that being a single lady I am not comfortable in staying in such kind of room instead of being considerate towards me, he simply told me all the other rooms are sold out, which was not because I checked there online reservations which clearly showed the availability of rooms. So he argued with me for nearly half an hour , finally again I was alloted a room which was there club room. There club rooms are pretty but they really need renovation, the carpets of the room literally stinks and the bathroom is really outdated in terms of the interior.. if they give you an upgrade to club room don't expect that they will allow you to access the lounge facilities in the evening because the receptionist clearly said "NO" to me stating that it's just the room upgrade which is not same with Taj Palace Delhi they allow there guest to access the lounge if they give you a room upgradation to club room As per my observation whatever you ask the front office first they will say NO to everything you ask. I have also stayed in luxury room during my this stay ,these category of rooms have beautiful interiors and gives you postive vibes.
On the other hand they have amazing housekeeping, the staff who used to clean my Club Room did it very nicely and Mr Ashraf who used to clean my luxury room was also a great guy and cleaned my room very nicely. The housekeeping department had an outstanding staff.
Now the breakfast buffet was served in CAL 27 which is there coffee shop, the hostess who alloted us the table for breakfast used to be very confused , sometimes she alloted us the table which was already occupied by someone else and if it happened then again you had to wait for next allotment of the table. The cafe did not follow covid protocols, the guests were not asked to wear mask while taking food from the buffet counters.It was always a chaotic atmosphere during breakfast buffet .
This time ,the week long stay in this hotel was full of bad and less of good experience !!!

So I was in taj bangal for a night stay where after the flight I had a sever ear ache which was worst, above that I had sever cold too. I went to reception and asked Ms Smriti to kindly arrange otrovin for me and I went back for the dinner and asked her that I will check with her after dinner. Ms smriti took that extra effort to come directly to the restaurant and informed me that It will take some time and she also suggested me to take steam which actually worked so magical on me and gave me homely feeling as few minutes back I spoke to my mom and she suggested the same and I didn’t expected that it will be possible here in the hotel and I might slept without taking steam if Ms Smriti didn’t suggest me the same. There is no doubt in saying that every women has that motherhood feeling in them. Smriti, the more I write, the more its less. Thankyou so much for giving me a homely feeling when I was not well and actually missing my home so much. Even when i went back to my room steamer was placed with two inhaling capsules which was intuitively thought. Also thankyou so much javed who actually handed over otrovin to me. I also want to thank Ms ipsita in the restaurant who served me with the great smile on her face and Mr David who always remain available for us like a family. Taj bengal gives feeling of 2nd home.

This was my 4th visit to this property. However, this 4th trip took 30 years as the last time I was here was with my Father (he is no more 😢). So this stay brought up treasured memories.
The hotel is undiminished in its sense of hospitality. Warm staff especially Bimal Da greet you at the reception - they were sensitive to my situation without asking; I lost my wife last year very young and I was here with my young daughter of 6 years. I was given a free upgrade to a luxury suite by the Duty Manger (forget his name). Was made super comfortable in my room.
To avoid being verbose, here’s my assessment of the property:

Would want to stay here again and again as I need to try other delicacies like prawn and noodles, which I had tried as a guest previously
Area of Improvement: I’d wish that the hotel management pays attention for to the plantations outside the windows of each room. I feel they could definitely be looked after a lot better especially as they are the USP in terms of the look and feel of this premier hotel.
In-room dining staff on the phone need to coordinate better with billing team as I was charged for my daughter’s orders when in fact I was assured I wouldn’t be as she was too young and her meal was included in the package.

I have the pleasure and opportunity to stay in quite a number of IHCL properties. But considering the price tag and the value provided, Taj Bengal is undoubtedly one of the Best among Taj Properties.
Location: At a stone pelting distance from the National Library and Alipore Zoo, the location cannot be better. It is in Proper Kolkata and from the rooms you can view from Victoria to 2nd Hoogly Bridge all in one frame.

Room: We stayed in the "Luxury Category " Rooms (301 & 306) . Room 301 has the best view of the swimming pool, Victoria, 2nd Hoogly Bridge. The rooms, with black and white checkered floors was aesthetically designed. The bed was comfy. The shower had good water pressure. The tea bags provided was of good quality . The Forest Essential Bathroom amenities was good. In single word all was great.

Restaurant & Food: Both Chinoiserie and Sonargaon are great options to dine and we were absolutely satisfied. But the best are the Bakery products from "La Patisserie" and the Breakfast at "Cal 27". In fact this is the Best Breakfast spread , I had among all my stays in other Taj. From smoked Salmon to Local dishes, it had all. The Evening tea ceremony could have been better. It had only Jhalmuri as option. The Welcome drink of canned Beverage could have been improved.

Service: Absolutely Brilliant. Special mention to Mr Alapan (from Front Desk) , Mr Kishore (from Room Service) and Mr Arjun. We celebrated my father's birthday and from room decoration to arranging Birthday cake and wishing with a picture all made us feel extremely special.

Stayed for 7 nites attending a marriage ceremony ( not in the hotel) ..the Luxury suite was spacious on the 5 th floor though all such rooms shld also have a compulsory powder room.. House keeping team as well as In Room dining team is very responsive ,and the food nice.
Sonargaon restn with North West and Bong cuisine is just Fab. .
Sanjib Ghosh Concierge, Farhan Khan and his Front office team always helpful when needed . Especially in a hotel where in house marriages was being held one after the other..Service is just fantastic .
The only shortcoming was the antiquated WIFI facility serving 8 Mbps speed for a Premium service..This has to be promptly corrected as most telecom providers offer WIFI speeds of 100 Mbps plus and Premium has to be at that speed plus..Standard upto 40.mbps...
Inner Circle members shlould be offered Premium WIFI compli ,laundry @ 50% discount so that Inner Circle really acts as a privilege and not just a token membership to carry arnd with no real benefits..
But in Kolkata if one wants to enjoy old world charm.during your stay .Taj Bengal and Oberoi Grand comes to.mind in the city centre.. ..but then Taj is a relatively newer property..and well located too .Alipore Zoo is just opposite the hotel and a boon for those who visit with kids ..and keen to take them across...The Zoo is great and the White Tiger a premium for kids😁
To conclude .our family stay with Taj Bengal was just fabulous and surely added to our reminisce of Kolkata as more satisfying...🙏🙇🏽♂️

Taj Bengal front office staffs are polite, friendly approach and attentive to guests. Food quality specially fish dishes are of high grade and hygienic. Hotel environment is pollution less. Hotel built in like King palace.

I stayed here recently. Very impressed with the hotel. Decor was superb, breakfast had lots of variety. Hospitality was top notch. I would definitely come back. Hygiene was given very high priority, sanitizer bottles in the lift , corridor and in the restaurant, Also they provided mask and sanitizer bottle in the rooms
