This is the closest five star hotel to the airport, only a 10 - 15 minute taxi ride. It is linked directly through the foyer to a massive shopping mall.
I chose a club room, which included a complementary pick up from the airport, four items of laundry each day, and access to the executive lounge, although I chose to have breakfast in the main venue for the greater variety of food.
The room was fine, although some aspects were somewhat dated. I would classify the room as 4 star only.
The bed was comfortable, lighting was sufficient, plus a comfortable lounge chair, desk and work chair, TV, coffee making facilities etc. The bathroom had sufficient space for toiletries and a large walk in rain shower.
The food and drink offerings in the executive lounge were disappointing on the evening of my visit (free between 6.30 and 8.30pm). There were two seafood snacks, arancini and croissants filled with spicy chicken, plus a few cheeses. The only red wine on offer was the cheapest line of the Indian brand, Sula.
Breakfast was good, but the Indian dishes on offer were toned down for Western palates, which was disappointing.
Staff were uniformly pleasant and helpful. I had a particular issue in making contact with a local company, and was graciously assisted by the Concierge Manager, Prabal Ranjan Ghosh, who remembered me when I returned to the hotel a week later.
Whilst more expensive than a taxi, I used the hote's excellent l limousine on two occasions.

We have been staying here since it was first established. This is truly our home away from home. We have stayed here with our family over a span of several years now. We express our sincerest gratitude to all the staff, at the front desk, hospitality, cafe, for going above, and beyond, to make sure that we have always had a very comfortable stay. There is one person who has worked with us over the years, he has attended to all our needs, worked with us in fulfilling our requests. His attention to details is amazing! Thank you so much, Prabal Ranjan Ghosh, concierge, for once again making sure that we had a fabulous stay at Swissotel! There have been so many fantastic people over the years who have worked very hard to ensure that best service is provided to guests staying there. That is what makes Swissotel, Kolkata, so very unique. The close proximity to the airport is an absolute bonus for a weary traveler. The next door mall, Citi Center II, with the ATM machines, Pharmacy, and a wide array of stores, is very useful. The multi cuisine menu at the Swiss Cafe is excellent! The Wykiki restaurant offers fares that are out of the world, they have an excellent drink selection. The staff is very helpful in making suggestions. We have traveled the world, stayed in innumerable hotels spanning the globe. Swissotel holds a special place in our heart. We highly recommend it to anyone planning a visit to Kolkata!

Taj City Centre Newtown Kolkata has recently started accepting guests. I had the opportunity of staying in a club room here during the first week of October 2022. The interaction with the staff was great. I will be failing if I do not praise the staff enough…they were very amicable and ever accommodating. One at all times had the feeling that they were taking extra steps just for you!
The rooms were satisfactorily appointed and were very well sound-proofed.
We enjoyed our morning breakfast and afternoon high tea at Shamiana.
The biggest revelation and the best place to hang out for us was Wykiki , An Asian restaurant with a tropical ambience which also had a terrace lounge. The team at Wykiki was fabulous. It was our preferred destination for lunch and dinner.
Ms Kamalmit and Ms Sutapa were very gracious and kind enough to look after the minutest of details.
Mr Raktim was kind enough to look after the drinks and his signature cocktails were extraordinary.
Chef Rajib was exemplary in preparing delectable dishes. And, Mr Anthony efficiently managed the restaurant.
Overall, It was a magnificent and unforgettable experience. We look forward to enjoying the hospitality again in the near future.

The Basics Earlier known as Swiss Hotel, its the same property but now managed by the Indian Hotels and with a new label reading as Taj City Centre. This is the hotels 3rd property in the City of Joy.
The Location Located right beside City Centre 2 in Rajarhat.
The Room We opted for the room with Jacuzzi and costed us 17500 incl. taxes. The room would have been approx 200-250 sq/ft. After my stay i feel that i overpaid for the stay and it would have been better if the room would have costed me 10000-12000 as the only difference between the normal deluxe rooms and this one is the outside jacuzzi for which paying 3 times is not really worth the money. Though the room did have some extra benefits compared to normal rooms which was the evening cocktail hour (6pm to 7pm) which was free for us and they had some really good alcohol pouring.
The Bathroom Well, nothing great or bad about it. Standard washroom that one would find in any other hotel. Though this one was spotless and completely well maintained.
Though there was an outside plunge pool, which was supposedly a jacuzzi but we just could not figure out how to turn it on or get help from the hotel after repeated calls. The plants by the pool got in the creepy insects into the pool and soon we had to vacate the pool. We did have some phenyl bottles floating along as well.
Dining We did go up to the restaurant name Wykiki for dinner, we ended up paying 3000 for the dinner and also ordering food from Zomato as we were left hungry. The restaurant did not honour the epicure card (Taj Membership card) and said that we could use it at the time of check out and when we were checking out they said that we had to show it at the restaurant. For 600 bucks we did not really hit our head but then you see how things are at the hotel.
Breakfast deserves a special mention. Please do not opt for it. Its a) not worth it b) you wont get any service unless you call the manager to help. They were running really low on staff and had a hopeless spread. Cappuccino tasted like expresso, with pav bhaji for breakfast we only got the bhaji and no pav. Until we called upon the manager to help and rescue. After which we got some decent Dosa and omelettes at a 5 star hotel.
The Bottom Line It's a great place to stay but you feel nothing like a TAJ property and I am yet to get my GST invoice from the hotel.

Recently stayed in this hotel on my business trip. The hotel is at little distance from the city centre but very quite one and once inside you feel very comfortable. I was welcomed warmly at the entrance and at the reception. Staff were courteous and competent in their work. Room was very spacious and had everything that one might need on a business tour. The washroom had all the latest amenities. Breakfast was little below expectation as it had little lesser variety then what was expected, also the number of staff members at live counter was felt to be on a lower side as the order took a long time to deliver. Over all very good experience.

Have stayed at this hotel 4/5 times I have traveled to the city and will certainy stay there in the future.. Location is close to both New Town and the airport, the staff knows my name and my needs, the breakfast buffett is top notch.. Easy access to the attached mall make it easy to venture out for local fare or shop in standard India mall stores.. For me it is the perfect fit!

We wanted to spend a quiet evening all to ourselves and Taj City Centre fulfilled our requirements. Both the coffee shops were free of maddening crowd and high volume music. And we enjoyed our Darjeeling tea noise free. Hotel was the latest addition to the Taj Group in Kolkata. It had all the plus points of a Taj Hotel. Deluxe Room size was adequate and interior was tastefully decorated. Wood work was superb. Staff was smiling and friendly. Some of the decorations in Shamiana Restaurant were really eye catching. We had buffet dinner and Items were adequate. Barring a few pork items, others were well cooked although vegetarian dishes were tastier. Breakfast was complimentary. Spread was enough for a modern day breakfast. Quality of Salmon was excellent. Overall, our stay was pleasant and enjoyable.

We stayed in Swissotel on a family trip to Kolkata. This was the 3rd time I stayed in Swissotel, brilliant experience like before, staff are friendly, helpful, rooms are clean to the highest standard. This hotel is only 10 minutes drive from Airport & close to City Centre 2 mall which has lots of shops & food places. Only one thing I think needs improving is Air conditioning I.e, heating system doesn’t really make the room warm enough to a comfortable temperature. Weather and temperature in December was quite cold but it also felt cold in the room. We stayed in room number 1018 & 1020. Overall we enjoyed our stay & will highly recommend Swissotel Kolkata to any one, planning a visit to Kolkata.

Taj City Centre New Town is located about 4 km from Kolkata airport, which is 15 15-minute’ drive by car. It is run by the famous ‘Taj’ group of hotels and is in a building that houses the City Centre New Town Mall. The adjacent mall is a medium-sized one, with a Food Court and many shopping outlets.
The Reception area is located as you enter, slightly to the right. With three counters, the check-in was prompt. There is a seating lounge in front of the reception. The lifts to the rooms are further ahead of the reception and require key access. All guests were treated to a welcome drink and welcomed with the application of ‘tilak’.
The room was large enough and comfortable. The bed was large and comfortable and provided good quality sleep. The washroom was spacious and well-equipped and housed a toilet shower and washbasin. It was equipped with an electric kettle with ingredients for making tea and coffee. It also had a safe. Wi-Fi was complimentary and the speed was good. The room has an intercom to call the Guest Services, reception, housekeeping, or spa.
All amenities are on the 6th Floor – Restaurant, Bar, Gym, and Spa. The restaurant ‘Shamiana’ is spacious and serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The buffet spread was good - in fact all the 3 meals, were wonderful. A la carte orders can also be placed for lunch and dinner.
‘Wykiki‘ is an Asian restaurant in the form of a large cabin surrounded by a lily pond. Wykiki’ Bar next to the restaurant is an open-air bar, well stocked and had a good variety of drinks to offer.
The infinity swimming pool is outdoors, and gives a good view of the surrounding area and the planes that fly overhead.
The fitness centre is of medium size. ‘J Wellness Circle’ spa has three therapy rooms, including one couple room, that provide all kinds of massages. Each room has a steam room as well.
The hotel is a Taj property and the Taj group is well known for their very high hospitality and customer experience. Each and every staff at the hotel was well trained and motivated and was seen put in their best efforts to make the stay of the guests as comfortable and memorable as possible.
Overall, the hotel is a wonderful property to stay in, while you are in Kolkata and staying near the airport.

It was my wife’s birthday for which I was searching for a place to celebrate and make it memorable. Seeing the inauguration of a brand new Taj in my city, Kolkata, I took a chance as I was impressed with their hospitality several times before. I booked a luxury room, asked the concerned person to decorate it with best possible ways and to arrange a special dinner. Soon after my booking, the entire team started coordinating with me, to make the arrangements in best possible way. The day came.. we went their in evening… received a very warm welcome with ‘Aarti and Tika’. One representative escorted us to our room and the surprise was waiting.. they have allotted a luxury room on higher floor with superb view of the city on a cloudy monsoon evening, with a superb birthday decoration. The huge flower bouquet just stole our heart. It was a very cozy and well maintained room with all modern facilities and exceptionally clean. The entire hotel is decorated with many handicrafts, paintings, carpets promoting local art, culture and heritage of Bengal. After refreshments we went for dinner where the biggest surprise was waiting for us.. they prepared a totally customised and exotic four course menu with unlimited mocktails ( as we were nonalcoholic), decorated the table with flowers and candles, chief chef and his team were taking personal care and made our day just out of the world! What an arrangement! Chef’s choice desert need special mention. The interior decoration of the restaurant, ‘ Samiana’, infinity pool , lobby , spa … every corner of the hotel will make anyone fell in love with this property. Overall it’s an international standard property and undoubtedly the ‘Taj of Hospitality’ by an Indian brand. The effort of Mr. Sohel and Ms. Sudipta need special mention for this memorable and dreamy arrangement.
