A restored 1920s townhouse represen-tative of a golden era in Calcutta's architecture. In the heart of the Bengali part of the city that the British referred to as the Black Town. A quick half an hour drive from the airport. Six well-appointed bedrooms with all modern amenities. Tastefully and lovingly decorated by celebrated local designer Swarup Dutta.

A warm welcome when I arrived the hotel. Check-in was easier that I have ever experience in India. Love the warm touch on the WhatsApp group chat (with the staffs) after I enter the room, Staff were very helpful in all ways and offered tea, coffee and cookies at every opportunity.

The hotel is charming, authentic and has been very tastefully and lovingly restored. All rooms are well fitted in style with vintage props and materials to reflect the old building. Room are super clean, love the bed liner and the comfy of the pillows. Toilet are clean with Pure Essential Oil toiletries.

The location is interesting if you want to explore older parts of the city, great area to wander around. Those old buildings are amazingly beautiful.

Loved every minute of my stay & I will definitely come back again for my next Kolkata trip.

A big shout out to all the front desk staff who help me in getting my way out from India due to the Covid-19 situation. Let's combat the virus together by staying safe & hopefully everything will be back to normal real soon. Stay strong & stay safe everyone, take care.

From the minute we arrived at this hotel as weary travellers we received a warm friendly welcome and felt immediately at home .
The hotel is charming and authentic and has been very tastefully renovated . Rooms are spotless , comfortable and facilities are good . Terrence is a lovely calm place to chill .
The staff are friendly , polite and responsive in particular Wassim who goes out of his way to make his guests feel cared for .
The hotel is a short , through busy , walk to Shyambazar metro station which allows you to explore Kolkata and experience it’s multi sensory charm . At the end of the day this hotel is a welcome oasis of clam . Highly recommended . Thank you to all the staff and management .

This is the PERFECT stay if you are looking for a place to be immersed in old Bengal; the rooms are beautifully decorated and the staff go beyond mere hospitality in anticipating guest needs. Keya nd Wasim and the rest of the team served up wonderful breakfasts and doled out great advice. This is a bit far from the central shopping area, but the hatibagan night market will give you a taste of a real Bengali middle-class and migrant community, far from air-conditioned bubbles. Kumartuli is a short distance away.

Located in old Kolkata, on a quiet street, this colonial era house has been restored around a central atrium reminiscent of the Moroccan ryhiad style.
The rooms vary in size greatly with those on the second floor spacious with a large bathroom and bath. On our return a fortnight later we were allocated room one which was tiny by comparison and just adequate for a days stay.
The breakfasts and dinners were both varied and excellent range and quality.
There is a rooftop dining room which proved to be a great location
Staff were attentive and always ready to help out with any request
Would stay here again if we ever return to Kolkata

There’s something magical about this stay. If you are looking for a place to be immersed in old Bengal, this is the perfect place. The rooms are beautifully decorated and the staff go beyond mere hospitality in anticipating guest needs. Kiah, Anjale and Wasim and the rest of the team served up wonderful breakfasts and doled out great advice. Don’t forget to meet Snowy and Patchy, the fluffiest cats you’ll ever see.

I wanted to get a flavour of the history that Kolkata has quite well preserved. This particular property was renovated with all the modern amenities while preserving the colloquial architecture...each room was themed to tell a story about Kolkata. The service was topnotch, all information required for a tourist was always available. I truly had one of the best times staying there. Also the property is very close to the metro station which is blessing really. Get all the required information from the staff members they are very kind and helpful.

Stayed 2 nights in the Darzipara room.

- Interior decoration of the room (and all spaces within the hotel) is gorgeous. Attention to detail is amazing. Rooms come very well equipped (only hotel I've been to that has a charger for all phone types already attached to the nightstand!). Loved the room in all ways.
-Service is impeccable. Staff is very helpful and friendly. Have no complaints.

Would highly recommend to everyone interested in a boutique experience.

Beautifully designed place with a huge amount of thought that's gone into each detail, right down to the (working) vintage typewriters in our room.

The hotel is so lovely and the food (including free tea, coffee and biscuits) so good that it would be hard to leave and see Kolkata... Thankfully the staff are lovely, super helpful, and full of great suggestions of things to do and places to explore

We didn’t stay here. But what a lovely place. We went there to join a walk but unfortunately the walk was oversubscribed and we didn’t get on it. We met a lovely lady Keya who was friendly welcoming and tried her best to arrange a walk in the limited time we were in Kolkata. We were offered tea and we were able to buy a detailed map of the city. She also booked an Uber for us. A great Ambassador for Kolkata
