The Grand Hyatt Mumbai Hotel & Residences boasts a mix of sophisticated comfort and luxury amenities that have left many travelers satisfied, from its attentive service to exceptional dining options. However, guests warn the value may not match the cost, pointing to hidden charges and noise disruptions from nearby construction and events.
While service receives both applause for friendliness and critique for delays, the cleanliness of the facilities consistently earns praise. Travelers enjoy the prime location for airport proximity and city tours, despite some frustrations with room noise and service issues.

I walked into the hotel to be received by a cheery, welcome back greeting. What can be better! Smooth and fast check-in; nice room, and a hearty breakfast with lots of choices in the morning. I will be back!
Thanks

Overall: An excellent hotel which is best for business travellers in Mumbai since it is in the vicinity of the Bandra Kurla Complex. In addition, it is relatively close to Mumbai's international airport.
The road is quiet by Indian standards and is well kept. The entrance is clean and vast with brilliant adjacent gardens.
The welcome did fall short of expectations at a five star hotel in India. There was very little of a "swagat". Very few members of staff opened the door, no sense of a welcome or namaste on some occasions. It could be improved with a welcoming drink too which would make the welcome in keeping with other hotels of its league.
The reception staff was excellent, especially at the concierge desk. The hotel did promptly take our baggage to our room.
The room met my high standards with a bathtub (which we did not get time to use). Since we had three adults in the room the concierge met our request to have a separate single bed. The bathroom was large which could be locked up to create a room where you could easily get changed with storage and ironing facilities. There was also a safe.
The TV had lots of channels including international news ones like Al Jazeera, BBC News and CNN.
However, the room did need re carpeting with a big tea/coffee stain on the carpet.
Breakfast was for good value with a variety of Indian breakfast snacks and chef specials including misal pav and dal pakwan.
Also fresh South Indian items like mini uttapam, masala, Mysore and plain dosa. Indo-Chinese items and lots of fresh juices are on order.
Therefore, as expected in Mumbai there were loads of lacto-vegetarian options on offer. The Indian chai was the best that I have ever had in an Indian five star which tasted homemade. But for the best tea, get it directly from the counter where it is made instead of from the roaming waiters.
However, it must be said that the variety of egg-free pastries and desserts was low. This fell below my expectation compared to other hotels like The Lalit in New Delhi. This is especially because Mumbai has a higher proportion of vegetarians from Maharashtra, Gujarat and Rajasthan. As a result, this selection is a place for improvement for the hotel.
Unfortunately, the hotel is not conveniently located near any transport. The Santacruz railway station is not exactly walkable and the hotel is not near any Mumbai Metro stations either. However, this may improve as the Metro is still being built and hopefully a metro station with be built close to the hotel.
Will definitely return again when in Mumbai, especially for the food!

The property is spectacular, very massive and beautiful. The staff is very cordial and helpful and always available. The rooms big and spacious with fabulous bathrooms. Only letdown is the food. I absolutely didn't like anything there. I had lunge access, the tea time cakes were average. The drinks were good but the snacks , especially the vegetarian options were very limited. They could have served bhaji, papad, tandoori items, nachos, peanuts etc - the regular ones which are available invariably everywhere else. I was waiting for the buffet lunch the next day. It also turned out to be below average . The most common time, dosa, sambhar , idli, chutney were tasteless .I never leave food on my plate, but today I had to leave. The idli were dry, sambar lacked the punch, tanginess and spices. Chutney bland. Omlette was ok. Aaloo subzi was so bland, as it fit to serve patients. The entire area where they serve the food needs a revamp and a better location. Other hotels have such a lovely spread in the buffet, it increases your appetite. Here it was unplanned, unprofessional and uncared for. Very little food options given the fact that I paid a whooping 30000 for a night. Highly disappointed by the food. Will never be coming here and waste my money like this ever again. 5 star for the ambience and other services though

A plush hotel but deficient in service. We were booked for one night at this hotel in Kalina due it’s proximity to the Corporate terminal of the airport . The hotel foyer and entrance is grand and gives you an overwhelming feeling as you climb the steps to check in . The negative for this is that the staff at the door are not as attentive to deliver the bags at the reception with your move which gives you a feeling of insecurity. The checkin was ok as expected . We were lucky to be given rooms facing the courtyard and swimming pools . The rooms are well maintained and plush with all modern amenities. We had the buffet dinner as well as breakfast at the restaurant. The food was good and it is definitely one of the better spreads in town . The restaurant staff was attentive and it was a very good experience. The laundry at the hotel is very expensive and in spite of being on a company account we gave it a miss. It seems they have converted the dollar price to inr for the pricing or make it so expensive that guests will avoid giving laundry . The checkout was ok however you have to ensure that the loyalty program number is endorsed on the receipt or else you will never get the points . The hotel loyalty program team is poor . My points credited for the stay were for a mere 9000inr against a bill of 55000 and inspite of various calls and emails of assurances nothing happened . The staff when called stone wall you and overall experience was bad raising the question as to is it worth taking my business to them. Mr Mahesh Parab has gone on record to state that points would be credited manually but nothing has happened . Follow-up mails have no answer . Overall if you are a regular who accumulated points in world of Hyatt you may reconsider staying at this property

We have stayed at the Grand Hyatt Residence several times in the past and always enjoyed the experience. However, on this occasion, the stay was extremely disappointing.
We checked in on Monday, 3rd March at 5pm, went out for shopping and dinner, and returned to the room around 12:30am. Upon lifting the duvet, we were shocked to find multiple stains on the bed sheets (as shown in the attached images).
We immediately tried calling housekeeping, but there was no answer. After waiting a few minutes, we called again and finally got through. Considering that we had to leave at 6am, we requested a large bath towel to cover the stains instead of waiting for the sheets to be changed, as this would have further reduced our already limited resting time.
While explaining the situation, the call was suddenly cut off, and surprisingly, no one bothered to call back. After waiting another 5 minutes, we had no choice but to contact the front desk, who were helpful and promptly sent someone with a towel to cover the bed.
This incident highlights a clear failure in quality control by housekeeping, which directly impacted our experience and left us with less time to rest.
Additionally, we noticed that the toilet door is missing from the bathroom, unlike in other rooms we’ve stayed in previously, another sign that maintenance standards are slipping.
It’s disappointing to see how the overall quality of the hotel is deteriorating, especially considering the high rates they charge. What was once a premium experience now feels neglected, and for the prices they demand, there are better options available in the city.
If you are planning to stay here, make sure to thoroughly check the room, especially the bed linen, upon arrival to avoid any unpleasant surprises.

Dear Guest, Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We regret to know that your recent stay at Grand Hyatt Mumbai Residence did not meet your expectations. We truly value your continued loyalty as a returning guest, and it is concerning that we fell short during your visit. We regret the issues you encountered with the cleanliness of the bed sheets upon your arrival, and we completely understand how upsetting this must have been, especially after a long day. Additionally, the lack of prompt response from housekeeping and the missed opportunity to follow up with you is unacceptable, and we will be addressing this internally to ensure that it does not happen again. Your feedback is invaluable in helping us improve, and we are committed to enhancing our services to meet the high standards that you, and all our guests, deserve. We hope you will give us another opportunity to demonstrate the level of service and comfort you have come to expect from Grand Hyatt Mumbai. Having posted a glowing review on this property back in February 2024, it only seems appropriate that I provide an update having stayed at the Grand Hyatt in Mumbai once again.
So, on the back of great stay last year, I returned (this time with my wife) on my annual jaunt to India – alas, hoping to wow my ‘significant other’, I was left somewhat disappointed for the following reasons…
1. The price for a Club Room fluctuates continuously – whilst the website indicates a ‘Best Rate Guarantee’, the only way that this can really be implemented is by booking a refundable room and then cancel/re-book when the price drops
2. From 1st January 2025, a one-way airport transfer is no longer included with a Club Room booking and if one is required, rates start from INR 3500 plus taxes - booking a taxi at the airport or in advance from a third party is now the cheaper option; fortunately, we had booked the room prior to that date so for us, it was still included
3. The hotel now has policy that early check-ins prior to 8am are charged at the rate of a whole day and after 8am at a rate of 50% of that; as our flight landed at 4:55am and we arrived at the hotel at 6:30am needing sleep, we were forced to pay for a full day albeit over 16 hours after check-in began. A more logical approach (and one adopted by many other airport hotels) is that the 50% rate is applicable from 2am or there is a 24-hour check-in/check-out policy, i.e. after a full day’s payment, early check-ins or late check-outs are pro-rated
4. The room was as per last year
5. As vegetarians, I was disappointed with the choices available at the ‘Happy Hour’ in the Club Lounge from 5:30pm to 7:30am compared to last year; the dishes to choose from were considerably more limited – previously it had been approximately half whilst this year, I would say it had dropped to around a third (and alas, no paneer options!)
6. Breakfast in the main restaurant is crazy but competent with a choice of dishes both à-la-carte and buffet; on the first morning, vegetarian options were more abundant in the buffet with both khandvi and pav bhaji available (although the server for the latter had to be instructed to toast the pav) but on the second day, there was no khandvi or an alternative replacement (last year there was dhokla) and the pav bhaji contained chicken (of which there were very few takers!). This is despite the fact that they had a specialist Gujarati Chef in one of the restaurants in the hotel for a month
Staff, as previously, were polite, professional, helpful and pleasant but the factors that made this hotel stand out for me to not even consider another 5* property on my return to Mumbai this year were no longer there which is a shame particularly as I chose to share the experience this time around with my partner.

Give it to @GrandHyattMum to continue diminishing their reputation with a lack of hospitality and service.
They’ll charge a premium, but they only offer services comparable to a roadside hotel. • Check-in: The staff member didn’t even know what a “patio room” was (the one I had requested). I ended up getting a subpar room. • In-room dining: Not available due to some kitchen issues. • Outside food delivery: They won’t allow any outside service to deliver food. • Food order experience: I had to dictate a Zomato order to someone because I don’t have an Indian phone number. It didn’t work anyway. Eventually, they transferred me back to room service, claiming they had arranged a special chef just to make my pasta (it’s on their menu!). • Room amenities: No tissues or serviettes were provided. • Washroom amenities: Only one hand towel was available. • TV issues: The new smart TV didn’t work upon check-in. A technician spent 30 minutes in the room trying to fix it. • Mini-bar: There’s no concept of a mini-bar—nothing in the mini-fridge. It was empty and smelled unpleasant. • Welcome pack: Non-existent. Just a poorly placed QR code on the desk.
For a property that is globally rated 5+ stars, the experience was shockingly underwhelming.
In all honesty, they seem to lack any understanding of customer loyalty. I’ve been staying with them for over 15 years (yes, I know, I should have moved on), but I kept hoping they’d improve. Instead, they’ve been consistently declining year after year, digging themselves deeper.
This reflects poorly on the broader @GrandHyatt brand as well.
@GrandHyattMum, you’ve truly outdone yourselves in disappointing your guests.
Trust me—it’s spectacularly underwhelming.

Up until checkout we really enjoyed our stay at this Hotel. The breakfast is tasty and diverse. The bed was good and the space of the room is enough. The staff is overall friendly and capable of provide you with the necessary information when you have a question about your room, breakfast location etc.
We decided to extend our check-out time. When we checked out we received an invoice with the additional cost. On the invoice there was no specification of the costs so we asked what it concluded. Because I imagined it concluded the breakfast and also the extra hours in the room I asked the madam who helped us whether the price included those extra room hours. She replied it didn’t and took back the invoice and added these costs to the invoice. Paying for something you asked for is absolutely normal and we off course wanted to. But it would have been nice if she handled the situation differently. Based on the time (6 hours later than the normal check-out time) she could have understand that we checked out later. So she could have added those costs from the beginning or could have asked/explained us the cost before printing the invoice. In the end if i didn’t mentioned the later check out they didn’t even noticed it and would have not charge it at all. It is kind of rude to change the invoice based on the honesty of your customer.
In the end, we loved our stay and definitely will return to Mumbai in the near future.

1. I normally don’t write reviews unless the service is to good or extremely bad. Unfortunately, in this case it’s the later. Firstly nice things, very good hotel, facilities, breakfast etc. some very basic things are missing.. mosquito in the room, and to make the matter even bad even after informing the staff nothing done and the heights I was assured everything is done and thy checked.. result same mosquito problem and even at the same place. Towels are changed if the hotel staff feels like else they will just put whatever they want. Key card is removed after cleaning and everything is switched off and then when you return keys don’t work. God bless this hotel or should I say a lodge. Note: I am writing this review while I am still in the hotel.
