Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Punta Caracol is an accommodation located near Bocas del Toro on Isla Colón. Secluded, but within walking distance of the main residential area, it offers a break from the stresses of the city for those in need of total relaxation.
The boat journey from Bocas to the lodge takes around 15 minutes and the hotel runs a service at certain times between Bocas and the lodge.
The lodges are on the water of the Caribbean Sea and have direct access to the sea via a platform set up in front of the balcony of the rooms
Breakfast, lunch and dinner are a la carte and offer a variety of good quality food.
The resort can organise visits with other operators to other islands in the vicinity.
The accommodation has a living room, bedroom, bathroom and balconies at the front and rear. The water available in the accommodation is treated but brackish. The hotel provides plenty of bottled fresh water for guests' daily use.
Reception offers guests the chance to charge their mobile phones and Wi-Fi is available in the restaurant area.

If you are looking for the perfect rustic bungalow in the Caribbean you found your spot. Simple, clean, hot water, bottled water, and fall into the clear Caribbean water anytime yiu like. The views of the mountains on the mainland breathtaking. From our dock we saw shark, barracuda, leopard ray, sting ray, and all kinds of other fish. I brought my travel fishing pole and had a wonderful time all week long casting from the free kayaks. This was truly an amazing experience.

The staff was fabulous! The food was very good! We never left the lodge.

Rarely have we ever found a place that we would be willing to return to as we always like trying new things… but this one will be a semi-annual revisit for us.

Beautiful lodge with invidual cabins over the water you can swim and snorkel right off your deck. The staff is very nice and accommodating. The resturant is lovely and the food is very good. This is an ecolodge so very little electricity in the cabins so no appliances. They have a charging station near the restaurant. There is a shuttle to boca town three times a day.
The downside is the place is in disrepair all walkways and decks could use some work as well as the roofs. We still had a great time. Tips if you go book through their website and breakfast will be included . Also if you take the shuttle to boca town have a cab waiting because it is a two mile walk from dock to town.

The resort concept and location are appealing and the experience could be stellar but lodge, hospitality & website in need of upgrade especially for the prices charged. General feeling that the lodge is in decline. Keep looking for alternatives - there are places in Bocas that are gems & where you feel you get really good value for your money. Here you pay too much for totally average or less than average accommodations and amenities.

Our worst experience ever! We travel the world and have stayed in so many eco lodges and resort for half the price with excellent rooms and services. We did not have electricity and hot water for 2 days! Everything you touch breaks and is eroded. They have built the hotel with no knowledge of how to maintain this place. When we finally got the power back, the fan speed was a joke. The light was not enough and we had to use flash lights. Our bathroom drain would clog up as soon as you turn on the shower. We had to wait 30 minutes between showers so that we don't step into the dirty soapy water! We were told to not use tap water for brushing because it is contaminated. Seriously??? Fortunately they provided us with enough bottled water for use. I don't mind the bugs and lizards as that is natural with an eco resort, however I would expect some basic facilities to be good for the amount they charge.

We were so excited about this trip. We had saved for years. The storm happened in December, where everybody was stranded in hotels. All the airlines understood and gave us refunds. Punta Caracol was absolutely unwilling to work with us. We had to ask Expedia to intervene on our behalf. We tried for four days with them. All myself and Expedia got was the lady on the other end, yelling and screaming and hanging up. at first they said they “me“ be able to offer a voucher for future use, but then reneged on that as well. Expedia did confirm that we absolutely did qualify for a full refund but the lodge is refusing to do so. Here are a few snapshots of the conversation with Expedia. Unfortunately I am on able to share the nasty WhatsApp messages that the lodge left for me. To say we are disappointed is an understatement. Yes, we are disappointed that we didn’t go on our trip but more importantly, we are disappointed in the 100% lack of customer service or human care that this lodge represents. Don’t do it. There are nicer places in Boca and Panama to go that I’m quite sure would be more willing to work with you. Please read through the screenshots of the conversations for more information. This is the very first negative review I have ever written anywhere, and we are World travelers. Just don’t do it!

Beware do not book here! I placed a booking with booking.com that claims you can cancel up to 14 days before your arrival with no charge. I cancelled 3 months before my arrival date 4/7/2023 and was charged $900 to my CC which after 3 weeks of being told by a representative of Punta Caracol via WHAT'S APP it will be returned I am still waiting.

This place is so lovely.

We travelled as a family of 4 with 2 adults and 2 kids (8&10) We only stayed 1 night so tried to do as much as we could

Our hut was the perfect size and it was really nice to have a separate room upstairs that looked out to the ocean. They have fans and it helped make the temp perfect for sleeping. There are only 10 huts so it is not busy, which is nice.

You can snorkel right off your hut deck. The water was warm and there was a nice little variety of fish, we even saw a lion fish and 2 large sting rays. We kayaked as well.

The food was delicious. Sounds funny but they have the absolute best chicken fingers!!! We found breakfast to be a bit pricy for what you got (1 small pancake was $3 US) and you had to buy everything separately.

It was a beautiful view and a great experience to have.

We loved Punta Caracol. We stayed two nights. We took the boat into Bocas Town on the day between the nights for lunch. The place has 9 units, a tiny reception building and a ~6 table restaurant all on stilts above incredibility beautiful clear waters. Nothing else. They have kayaks and snorkeling gear provided for free to the guests. BEAUTIFUL! Quite. We went into Bocas Town for lunch between our 2 nights. There was little appeal to Bocas Town for us. We snorkeled under the buildings and saw remarkable gathering of colorful coals and fish. There is a secret coral spot close but it is pure and don't want it destroyed. Perfect place for two nights but then we felt we had gotten everything from the Lodge and moved on.

This was a great space to spend a romantic anniversary. The cabinas were private and the food was spectacular! Staff is incredibly friendly and helpful! Great snorkeling around the area and kayaks are available to borrow. We found a beautiful creek just kayaking around and exploring. The tours around the area are amazing! We visited Zapatilla Beach, Red Frog Beach, and Playa Estrellita. Beware of the tour guides that jump into your taxi and pressure you into sales. Some are sketchy. Instead go with the hotel’s recommendations, they work with some awesome captains. Would love to return again some day!
