Let me first counter the recent reviews that i just read about quality of this excellent hotel. I am an Indian, so to say only french posting good reviews is a false allegation. The hotel deserves all the accollades that have been posted by various other guests. In Phi Phi, real estate is very limited, so its justified that small rooms are the norm. However, if i compare with other such accomodation in Phi Phi, these are spacious enough for a comfortable stay. Please be aware that in such a destination, very few hours are spent indoors,so owners do not focus on large spaces of rooms, thus reducing their inventory, and of course income. The cost is justified due to remote location of the island, and Mama beach residence gives full value for it. Neat and clean and extremely well maintained, this resort is a hidden gem. I would come here again....and again. The location is bang on the beach and its compactness adds to the quaintness of the resort. The biggest add-on is the short distance (7mts walk) to main town and pier. The so called "open air bathroom" is actually a very clever way of ventilation without compromising the privacy and it ensures the bathroom will never stink, a major cause of rejection by guests while selecting hotels. The lack of a swimming pool is compensated by a big jacuzzi. The service is great and staff is friendly. Breakfast is limited but then it is enough for filling ones stomach, as it offers everything that is needed in a breakfast meal. The owner is very conscious about smallest of details and is there to take care of guests. Food and drinks are reasonably priced, and massage was also very good. Definitely worth a stay. The comfort sea view rooms have wonderful view.

Mama Beach Residence - room B2 has got to be the best room with a view on our whole 3 week trip around Thailand.

The room was huge giving us plenty of space to spread out all of our stuff. The balcony was perfect for relaxing in he evenings or mornings catching the sun rise. The garden area's were watered every morning keeping it lush and green.

Breakfast was plentiful, and delicious. Staff were friendly always saying hello. We did not eat lunch or dinner here as we would walk the 10mins into town and spend all day out. We loved stopping at the sunshine bar next door for a drink or food.

The bed was huge and the pillows even bigger, I've never seen a pillow like it. It was almost too big but we both slept real good and the air con was the quietist we'd come across.

Rooms cleaned every day even when we were in it, they were waiting at the door for us to vacate. Didn't use the pool but it looked clean and inviting and the beanbags nearby was a cool place o chill with a book. We borrowed a kayak for the morning and took a bin bag with us collecting rubbish out of the sea as we went, and on any beaches that we stopped at. Just a shame the kayak wasn't big enough and 1 bag wasn't enough for the rubbish washed up on the secluded beaches. So sad but we, the tourists are doing this so it was good to help even just a little bit.

Only complaint was our toilet would get stuck and not always flush but no major problem for us. The staff had our bags carted to the ferry upon checkout very swiftly, we were almost running to catch up with him.

Overall - an amazing stay on a quiet end of the beach not too far to walk to the main town. We would definitely come back to Mama (requesting room B2)

The staff were unbelievably kind and sweet- we loved our stay here. The beach was gorgeous and quiet and I loved the swinging chairs at the bar. The food was amazing and the location is perfect- 15mins away from restaurants and bars so it’s quiet at night and 10 minutes from the pier. The hotel itself was gorgeous too. Monkeys came onto the beach and the highlight of my stay was watching the staff chase them away- it was hilarious to watch. Only downsides is that the cocktails were a little expensive compared to other places and it would be nice to have either bigger bottles of water in the room or more of them. Will definitely stay here if I’m back on the island!

This was one of the most expensive places we stayed at during our entire honeymoon in Thailand.

Unfortunately, it also had by far the worst room. Many items were slightly dirty, stained or damaged. The attention to detail that you expect for that price range was just not there.

The air conditioning cools the outside air, since the bathroom is open to the outside, and the door separating it from the bedroom isn't a full door.

The room was also small, which is forgivable since Koh Phi Phi has limited (probably not limited enough) real estate.

The location was definitely calmer than most of the island. Ideal for people like us who came to dive and not party. However there is still a beach bar that plays music in the late evening.

Finally, the staff was friendly. They had «forgotten» about our free massage (since we booked directly on their site). However, they kindly provided us with a zero-waste take-away breakfast for the day we went diving. They had also prepared a bed decoration for our honeymoon, which was very kind.

The evening guard was especially friendly, it should be noted.

We stayed here for two nights. I booked a room with a sea view, and was disappointed when I arrived that the view was partially blocked by the reception hut, however, this did not ruin out stay given how close we were to the beach.
We were in room A1. The room was small, but adequate for the time that we were there. The bathroom was a good size, and toiletries were provided.
Towels and bed sheets were changed daily.
The hotel does not have a pool as it does not need one, it does have a large jacuzzi which was a nice touch.
The best time of day at this hotel was before day trippers arrived (around 12pm) and after they left (around 3pm), when they had left the island we pretty much had the beach to ourselves.
There are a few sunbeds at the beach for hotel guests, but not enough to go round, and on our first day we had to make do with a beanbag.
All in all, a lovely hotel, pleasant staff and great location. It was a lovely ten minute stroll into the main part, with plenty of restaurants closer to the hotel.
I have read negative reviews about the open air bathroom but there was no issue with this. It was private and nobody could see through.
The aircon was fantastic, and my only criticism is that the bed had to be climbed onto from the bottom, as there was wooden panelling around it which went from the bed to the wall, which we found pointless.
I would stay here again should I return to this area.

When you arrive you get a lovely warm welcome with a welcome drink and cold towel. The team are all so welcoming and always give you a smile.

The rooms are cosy but perfect. We were only there 3 nights. I can understand any longer there is limited space to hang clothes etc.
the mini bar prices are the same as 7/11 which was perfect.
Clean towels every day and the room made up.

Breakfast was fab with your choice of egg and proper machine coffee and then choice of pastries etc. if anything was finished you just had to ask.

Our balcony had a swing which was absolutely perfect with great outdoor space.

There is a jacuzzi, we didn’t use it but it seemed to be busy as the sun was going down people enjoying it.

The private loungers on the beach are very comfortable and you see the staff sweeping the area several times during the day. The area is perfect right on the sea front and you get a couple of hours shade from the large tree.
The area is nice and quiet away from all the crazy phi phi parties but a short distance should that take your fancy.

Our ferry to arrive didn’t tie in with the bell hot service but it did on departure and that was excellent to save us lugging the cases.

The bathroom is technically outside. Abit odd and I was constantly worried about what creatures may be joining me but eventually it became fun and enjoyable obviously it’s totally private and secure.

The staff always seem to be cleaning the area. They are obviously proud of their hotel and land and rightly so it’s beautiful and very well maintained.
The little kid on his bike is adorable I assume one of the staffs but he was very well behaved and very polite and always said hello/bye and waved & smiled -a credit to his parents.

Perfect location perfection hotel we most certainly will recommend and return

We were a group of 4 ppl that were finding a place to stay for a night in Phi Phi. I was very picky with choosing a place, as I didn’t want loud noise from party side of the beach, or from longtail boats from Tonsai beach, and also not far from the action - so I decided to go for this place. Location wise I felt like it was perfect for me! It’s not far from the pier to take longtail trips out to Phi Phi Leh, and walking street was only like 10 mins away. The rooms were tropical inspired, very clean. I like the outdoor area with the lounge chairs overlooking the sea and the small shed with sofas!

This was the second time staying at Mama Beach. The hotel is small and right on the beach . The staff here are exceptional and are always smiling and happy & very hardworking
The hotel sits at the end of the bay away from the hustle & noise of the centre of Phi Phi it’s around a 8 minute walk to the larger selection of restaurants and bars.
There is a bar on the beach which serves drinks and also food during the day.
The breakfast has a wide selection of food options, eggs , yogurt, fruits and pastries. Juices , tea & coffee etc…
The rooms are cleaned daily and your given fresh towels daily. They have air con and a fan inside and a one on the terrace . We had a swinging bench seat on ours along with a longer and chair. The bed is large and very comfortable.
All in all a perfect place to spend a few days.

Thank you to mama beach we had an amazing stay with our 5 year old son. He loved it especially all the staff who looked out for him and kept him busy looking after the cats! Such a lovely resort at the quiet end of phi phi, lovely room with extra bed for our son and a fabulous breakfast with the best coffee. If we return to phi phi we would definitely stay again.

Very very relaxing & idyllic stay.
Very comfortable bed & pillows.
Good breakfast. Cramped shower area.
You can get coke/beer/water from mini bar in your room for same price as 7-11. Niice.
