I can not say enough great things about the Buri Rasa in Koh Phangan, so I'll try to condense this review into something that doesn't turn into a novel. I have nothing but wonderful things to say about the hotel and the staff. Everything about the Buri Rasa is top notch and so perfectly compliments the relaxing paradise that is the island of Koh Phangan.

The location is fantastic. You get a large, crystal blue pool and a large chunk of the beach literally at your doorstep. The rooms are large, air conditioned, smell nice, and are extremely clean. The complimentary breakfast was delicious and hit the spot every morning. Their baristas know how to make coffee the way foreigners like it, in whatever style you could want, and the quality of the beans is quite good. My wife and I traveled here for our honeymoon and we ended up going in November during the down season (somehow managed to miss all of the rain and monsoons!), which means the island is very quiet but you basically get the attention of the staff and the beach all to yourself.

The staff are FANTASTIC! I would seriously treat any of them to a nice dinner, they were just so nice, so attentive, and so helpful! They will cater to your every needs, arrange taxis and trips, make sure you have enough of everything in your room, will come talk to you and show genuine interest in learning about your own culture while you learn about theirs. We had so many great conversations with Glenn and Sarah and Raj (I'm probably mixing up names here, sorry guys!), and I loved that many of the staff are not only from Thailand, but also from countries like the Philippines, India, and Iran. When we had to fly back to Bangkok, they handled all the travel arrangements perfectly, getting us cars and boats and tickets, and we basically just got to sit back and relax the whole time. Seriously 1st class service!!

There's not a ton of action going on in the area of the island where Buri Rasa is located (the northeastern part), so if you want to visit the popular Haad Rin area or Secret Beach on the other side of the island, then you'll need to rent a taxi. But since everything is so insanely cheap in Thailand, we were able to hire a driver from the hotel who literally drove us around the island wherever we wanted to go, for however long we wanted to stay at each location, over the course of 5-6 hours, for a paltry $60-$70 USD. It was nuts!!

Unless you feel the need to be dropped smack dab in the middle of the Full Moon Party, then I can't think of a better place to stay on Koh Phangan. Everything about the Buri Rasa was on another level. They even cut our names out of banana leaves and arranged them on the bed when we first entered our room! How cool and special is that??!! <3 <3 <3 Buri Rasa!!

we stayed in Buri Rasa on Koh Phangan for two weeks during the Christmas and New Year holidays with our son(11). This was also our 5th visit to Thailand, but our first to Koh Phangan.

It is a really lovely “feel like home” place thanks to the super friendly staff! These people were always at the right spot, always helping, always smiling:)

The design is very basic, but very cosy and comfortable.

We stayed in Ocean View Deluxe room, wich was really great. The view in the mornings and in the evenings was just perfect. Also spotless clean and with a lot of attention to detail like lit fragrance oil candle or hand made candy as a small gift in the evening.

the restaurant is fine and also affordable. in the beginning we were confused by the greek salad and pizza/pasta in the menu, but there is a selection of traditional thai dishes as well.
They also make fresh fish BBQ on the beach in the evening.

The breakfast is OK, but we had better breakfast buffets in thailand. Some essentials like mango fruit and no fresh juices were missing. The egg station was fine and they started offering asian soup just the last morning of our stay. you can also order some meals from the kitchen wich are included in the complimentary breakfast.

One downside is that many things are already badly weathered but still in use. as example the lounger cushions at the beach were torn and stained. Also the plastic of the outdoor tables started to dissolve and it just looked bad.

the small resort is on the south end of a really nice sandy beach shared wit just three other properties and a must try massage hut and restaurant with fresh fish bbq and Thai dishes at the other end.

The sea was just fine altho some big waves during our stay.

Also worth mentioning is the small one street village wich begins just at the entrance of the hotel with many other small restaurants, bars, and shopping options. Our personal favorite was “Country E-Saan” - a lovely small traditional Thai restaurant.

We also rented a car for two days. (Scooters were no option for us, narrow and steep roads to climb with crazy incline and curves, less experience on our end) We loved to explore some of the island. Koh Phangan is a very beautiful and relaxed island. (no we didn’t get to the full moon party because of the kid, altho it sounds like fun)

Thus was a very pleasant Thai experience and definitely one of our best. Thanks, Buri Rasa and again big thanks to the Staff:)

Buri Rasa Resort was an amazing place to stay and perfect for our honeymoon. From the moment we were greeted at Koh Samui Airport the staff were friendly and attentive. Our pool view room on the first floor (room 50) had a lovely view over the pool and a sea view so I loved reading my books on the balcony in the late afternoon sun. The rooms are a little smaller than the other places we stayed in Thailand but were beautiful appointed. The pool, beach and location are excellent and you could easily spend the entire time here not leaving the hotel. The restaurant has an extensive and affordable menu. As we booked through Luxury Escapes we had a number of complimentary inclusions including speedboat transfers, massages, two for one cocktails, and a BBQ dinner. I'd looks out for something like this if you are planning to book as the little extras were all fantastic. The hotel also has a number of activities that you can book through them including an island tour (highly recommended), Thai cooking classes and taxi and transfer services. The transport through the hotel was no more expensive that taking the regular taxis and made getting around the island very easy. Special thanks to Nad at the front desk who was always helpful and friendly, Lin who welcomed us when we arrived and made sure throughout we had an enjoyable stay, and Note and the ladies at the spa - best massages wed had in Thailand and Note is so warm and welcoming. Overall we had an amazing stay and would highly recommend this hotel to others.

We stayed here for a week early July, the resort may have been in its second or third week of the post Covid 19 re-opening. we arrived via Scooter taxi from the speedboat ferry port over the mountains to be greeting by the checking in staff
Checking in took 5mins and we was lead to our room by Lin who was of great help to me and my wife throughout the week
We stayed in room 46 which was a corner room next to the pool
The hotel was peaceful at all times, the private was amazing and nearly empty.
The sea was clean and really shallow great for kids with no waves, after waling out about 200metres the sea came up to adult waist.
The food was nice with decent choice
My wife is already planning a return visit as well as recommending the hotel to family and friends

B'fast Buffet at the Hotel is first Class & as you can enjoy the sea breeze as you eat on the Beach.
WE come to this resort to enjoy 4 days of relaxation & tranquility along with First Class service from the Hotel & Spa Staff

We booked a last minute trip to Koh Phangan during Covid to take advantage of the lack of tourists. We were torn between Buri Rasa and Santhiya and in the end booked 2 nights in Santhiya (you can see my separate review for that). We were very disappointed in that decision, and on our second night took a walk along the beach to Buri Rasa to see what it was like. What a difference! We checked out of Santhiya the next day and booked 3 nights at Buri Rasa and we were so pleased we did. The difference was amazing.

The staff and customer service were at the complete opposite end of the scale and actually cared about their guests. As it was during covid it was very quiet so they upgraded us to a beachfront room at no extra cost. What a difference and made so muhc sense. The rooms would be empty anyway, so why not give your paying guests the benefit of extra luxury at no extra cost to the hotel? It made us feel like we were really appreciated and it really enhanced our stay. The room was lovely, very modern and clean.

Staff at the bar and restaurant were also great. THey always made us feel welcome. There is one restaurant and usually we would get bored of the menu after a couple of days, but we didn't seem to bore of the menu here as there were plenty of choices. The food was good and they had a good happy hour as well.

As it was quiet, the beach was soooo good. It was lovely to swim in the sea every day. You can walk out quite far as it is very shallow and there are lots of fish swimming around.

There were a number of outside guests came to eat and drink at the restaurant either from boat trips that pulled up at the beach or from people touring around the island. So my concern would be that outside of Covid it may get crowded. But for us, we had the beauty of such a peaceful and quiet time and we really enjoyed our stay here.

Positives:
Great location right on the beach
A very quiet location away from everything if that’s what you are looking for.
Very friendly and attentive staff.
Adequate room with daily cleaning and drinking water.
Free upgrade from pool to ocean view.
The restaurant in the hotel was good although the wines were expensive.
Breakfast served until 10:30 and had a reasonable choice.
Nearby village has a few reasonably priced restaurants although a lot were closed as we were there in November.
Staff regularly cleaned the beach of any debris washed up.

Negatives:
I would not consider it to be luxury but it was adequate.
An awkward placed bed tucked in a corner so there was no way of popping to the toilet at night without disturbing your partner.
Noisy and not overly effective aircon
Eaten alive by mosquitoes both inside the room and the nearby area. There was as mosquito net over the bed but it was style over substance as it was not effective.
Small pool although you have the sea on your doorstep
The transfer from/to the ferry port to the hotel felt expensive. The 30 minute journey costs 1500THB each way (£35) which felt steep compared to other transfers I made in Thailand.
Lighting at the hotel was poor at night with exterior lights and lights on internal pathways turned off after midnight meaning you relied on your mobile phone light to guide you.
Would not visit again in November as we had three days or torrential rain. (It was at least warm rain). You also need to be careful of jellyfish at this time of year.

Set on a stunning bay, with an idyllic view this really offers an amazing beachfront experience. I was in a lovely ocean front deluxe room, which offered the amazing ability to step directly from the room and onto the sandy beach and then a short hop into the sea it is a fantastic option. Inside the room had everything you may need well except a bathtub, but the shower was more than adequate for me.

The hotel has a pool and is a central point and certainly a popular option for the families with it appeared some pool access rooms.
The spa offers indoors and outdoor massages treatments, I wish I could tell you more about mine, however, I was so relaxes I had to be woken up. Or perhaps that tells you all you need to know? I was also very impressed on the pricing it seems to be really well priced.

The food is excellent and buffet breakfasts offers all you could wish for. Tae ensuring my coffee was always topped up with a cheery your welcome

The staff though are what make this hotel so amazing, the boys on the beach are the ones I spent more time with as I sat endlessly watching the sea. Bob and Rong taking care of all your wishes, it seemed a non-stop proceasion of coconuts and smoothies. They even spend their time to clean the beach to help retain its natural beauty and to ensure a safe clean environment for everyone.

Outside of the hotel their is a small village, giving you the option to go for a walk and soak up local life without traveling far.

So, for me this little place has pretty much it all, great staff, amazing beachfront location, lovely pool, good spa, good food and a little village attached.

We returned to ' Buri Rasa ' at the end of may having booked 2 rooms for 4 nights but added another as we really didnt want to check out !
Booking directly with the hotel was great + the staff at reception were 5 star.
We had 2 super 'Pool Access' rooms beside each other with an adjoining door + it was possible to access each others balcony.
The rooms are beautifully decorated, very comfy, cleaned daily + there is a well stocked mini bar if you want to make use of it.
Due to the well designed hotel, everything is closeby.
The 'Spa' was 1 minute from our rooms (great promotions, massages + foot scrubs + super staff).
The ' Beach Club ' bar/restaurant is the best on the beach.
Both thai + western food is served here with a fab choice of dishes.
My sister had a late lunch one day inbetween swims + used the ' room service ' menu which was delicious.
'Happy Hour' drinks were great value + the bar staff were very polite + friendly. The barman recognised us having stayed in Oct 2020 !
We made use of the parking every day which was great + walked through the village where there are enough businesses open to satisfy your requirements including a 7/11 5 minutes walk away.
Between the fab pool + the beach right in front of the hotel we were all spoilt for choice + we will without a doubt return !

Well what can we say, arrived by speed boat and met with a warm welcome from hotel staff especially Lita.
Rooms were ready with bags arriving straight away, we had an ocean view/access being on the ground floor by far the best room we had on our 3 centre holiday.
We eat in the restaurant first night on the beach and all enjoyed the varied menu, beach bar was also very good.

Certainly a lovely clean beach with free water sports, paddle boards and kayaks included, paddled to neighbouring beach which was great.

All the staff were so helpful right to seeing us off, we stayed for 4 nights but wished we were still there.

If you can go for the ocean access rooms you won’t regret it.

We had our 27th wedding anniversary here and our bed was decorated with towels shaped like swans and orchid flowers with lettering wishing a happy anniversary in leaves.

Plenty of bars and restaurants to try, we enjoyed Lunar lovely place to eat and staff very friendly. A great bar is Baby Rasta serving drinks at good prices and very welcoming.

Hey Stew . The beach bar is located on the sand at the front of the Buri Rasa resort . It's the entrance to the village . Great atmosphere, fantastic cocktails , happy hours and sand in between the toes. This part of the island is not a raging night spot . You come here to this section of the island because it's quiet and relaxing . There is a couple of other bars, The Loft located along the beach , couple of other bars at other end of the village . I am not sure about joining rooms. There are umbrellas all along the beach We stayed in September- we did have a couple of days on wind - but it wasn’t drastic It is VERY quiet at night - it isn’t a “party” hard hotel - very family friendly!

We took a speedboat which was included in the cost of the Luxury escape deal. A couple of hundred dollars return I think?
