What a wonderful place this is. The staff are all so welcoming and helpful. The greetings and smiles we received from all throughout our stay were lovely.

The accommodation is great- futon style beds with great views from the floor to ceiling windows. Separate bathroom area and lovely decking with hammock and bean bag underneath the bedroom. Ceiling fans and air conditioning throughout. We were given a cot for the baby too!

The infinity pool is amazing. Warm and spacious with great views across to the bay.

Breakfast is good. It is served by the pool with slightly different, eclectic options (mashed potato, banana fritters etc.!) to accompany the eggs, fruit, pastries each day.

The beach is a five minute walk from reception and the village outside the hotel is packed with lots of good, cheap restaurants.

This place is really worth booking and staying at. Can’t really fault it for the price.

Great little resort with very friendly staff. Very helpful as well with lots of amenities available and nearby many more are around too. Can rent scooters, chill at their pool which has a great view, get food, book tours, and wifi. Overall very relaxing and the rooms are nice too. The pool especially is a highlight if you want to swim while having a more resort-y experience.

They don’t sell alcohol being Muslim owned but don’t mind if you bring your own in from the nearby 7-11. The food here is okay, but take advantage of this places great location to explore the nearby restaurants as they tend to be better. Walking distance to a nice beach, massages, kayak rentals, bars.

I have very few negative things to say about this hotel but will get the main one said first. If you have mobility problems do not consider this hotel!! It's set on the side of a hill with lots of steps. There are tons of other properties on ground level so go elsewhere. The resort is also "dry" and don't sell alcohol. You can, however, bring it isn and there's a 7/11 within walking distance.
And onto all the positives. Firstly the staff. I must give a special shout out to Gan who cleaned our room and looked after us marvellously. She honestly couldn't do too much. I asked for a table and chair in our apartment to help with my back issues and the next minute there they were. Brilliant, friendly and kind. That goes for all the staff.
As mentioned the hotel stands on a hill which affords beautiful views over Kantiang Bay, I thought I had died and gone to heaven. We had a swim up pool with bean bags on the veranda. It just doesn't get the sun later on in the afternoons. The apartment was a duplex. There is a bedroom on the bottom floor and the top floor with the ground floor area hosting the shower and toilet. There is only a shower curtain separating them from the main area so if you are shy this isn't for you! I would suggest you need to be in the same family.
Some of the fixtures and fittings look a bit worn, but everything is very clean.
The aircon works perfectly.
The floors can be a bit creaky and the walls are exceptionally thin between the rooms. If this bothers you I would suggest having one of the bungalows instead.
We didn't eat at the hotel but the breakfast looked "okay", however at 300 BHT per person I don't think it would be worth it when every place on the beach does it for a fraction of that.
The hotel will organise taxis and trips but make sure to shop around for cheaper prices.
We loved the hotel and it's less that half the price of some of the other resort that host equally lovely views.

Alama is a perfect place to spend time in Koh Lanta. It's in the southern part of the island, cozy area but still very close to the beach, restaurants and 7eleven. Up on the hill you can't here traffice noice and you can see the beach and the ocean.
We had a double room cottage, which means that we had two separate one bedroom cottages and the private terrace. That is luxury for me!
Only thing to keep in mind is that up on the hill you have to climb many steep steps from the main road or the lobby. It is exercise in the heat.
The staff was so lovely, I really felt being a guest, not just a customer. They arranged a private van to pick us up from Phuket airport (5h) and sent me welcoming message before my departure. (The other hotel didn't even answer my questions).

The hotel says they offer pickup but don’t reply to emails so you end up paying for a taxi. We had a pool access room and the pool was nice however the room itself was soo dark and dingy and the walls are crazy thin. Couldn’t sleep because all I could hear was wind battering and whistling like in a horror movie, and next door chatting. Breakfast is also not worth getting up for but the view is nice. I personally think there’s better alternative hotels nearby.

everything was really amazing! One of the best stays we’ve ever had in Thailand. the hotel provides a free shuttle to pick you up from the pier. we had a miscommunication about our arrival time but the driver patiently waited for us. When you check in they make sure they brings your bags to your cabin since it is quite a walk (we didn’t mind the walk). The cabin and the pool were absolutely gorgeous. You can also rent a scooter from the hotel to drive around the island. there are also shops and restaurants in walking distant. don’t forget to visit the famous Why Not bar, with live music every night!

Was probably once a nice resort but is now unloved and neglected I suspect by a money grabbing owner. Positives: good location not far from the beach. Chalet style accommodation that is spacious, private and authentically thai. Lovely receptionist who did her best to look after us despite complete lack of support from above. Negatives: The chalets are small, wooden structures so sweat boxes in the heat and the hotel has devised a system that the AC will only be on when your in the room with no way to override this....after several failed attempts to use cards, receptionist gave us a knife and suggested we try jam this into the electrical controller 😳 We told them we would check out unless a solution was found so on day two they gave us a cleaners key which operated the electrics - I gave the two stars for this solution. The pool also is very cloudy and which i suspect is from never being cleaned, also no alcohol sold in the hotel. A Muslim woman drippibg in designer clothing was laid out on a bench in reception, possibly the owner, she barked orders at the staff and although I didn't understand what she was saying, I'll guess it was derogatory comments about the guests and their requests. Could be a lovely spot but new owners required first who are willing to invest or at least spend a little, give it a pass and try somewhere else in the area.

Alama was such a good surprise! All my top options were fully booked and by taking a look at the photos online, I expected quite an average stay/accommodation. But to my surprise, Alama was better than expected and I might consider coming back. I booked the Suite with Garden View and it looked exactly like on the photos. I personally love the southern part of Koh Lanta so to me the location was perfect. There are so many nice bars and restaurants within walking distance, plus a scooter/car rental, a 7 eleven, ATMs and of course Kantiang Bay. Because Alama is so high up, it can be quite a walk to your room or to the pool/breakfast area but the view from there is just stunning and the perfect way to start your day. So hopefully you won't mind the steps either! Just know that there is no alcohol (but you can bring your own) and the toilet has a curtain and then there is a wooden door to the bedroom, so if you have privacy issues, I would not recommend it.

The staff at this hotel will always have a special place in my heart! I have never stayed anywhere with such smiles and friendliness, a real credit to Thailand and Muslims, absolutely fabulous people. The hotel is comfortable within a five min walk to the beach, good local stores and plenty of restaurants. We spent 10 days here and there wasn't one thing that wasn't brilliant! Thank you so much to Nok and her wonderful team for making our holiday so lovely!
