Nestled close to the old town and the beach, the Amfora Hvar Grand Beach Resort offers a varied experience; while the atmosphere is often seen as lively, certain areas are deemed outdated. Guests appreciate the hotel's walking paths and clean environment. The pool and breakfast buffet are highlights, although there are calls for room amenity improvements. Despite the commendable service from some staff, opinions on value for money and room modernization are less favorable, with several guests finding the accommodations overpriced and in need of an update.

As a couple staying at the quieter time of September, we enjoyed the location and comfortability of this hotel. There was not the stereotypical crowd and rules have changed on loud music which was fine with us as we like a balance. We are friendly and polite so I believe you get this back in return. No question was silly and we were able to enjoy our time with all we needed within the hotel and within close reach external to the hotel (a broadwalk that leads along the coast and into marina). Pool was clean and there is a slide for children, but we saw adults on it too! Breakfast in the hotel was very varied and had all you desired. We didn't have dinner in hotel as we walked to a different restaurant each evening but we heard it is a buffet. Very much recommend this hotel especially the newly renovated side. We were kindly upgraded and stayed in a 2 bedroom suite that was spacious and had 3 balconies! Thank you Amfora! The hotel is also very large so your room may be up a few stairs and lift but not an issue, there is no rush! I wouldn't recommend not having a sea view room, so book in advance! We had a sea view and it was lovely! The rooms without them are for those who spend little time in room and just to sleep so would be good if it was a bargain price. Note, main Hvar marina area is not cheap so manage expectations! Very clean and lots of places to have food/drink/souvenirs/history.

We stayed here for five nights having originally booked for 3 nights but subsequently decided to skip Brac and spend the extra two nights here. We had booked two different standards of rooms but the superior sea view room is definitely worth it for the amazing views. The hotel is very large and takes time to find your way around. There are multiple steps which may not suit those with mobility issues. The bedrooms are quite small but beautifully decorated with plenty of storage. The bathrooms are modern with good rain showers and good quality toiletries. There is a safe, a hairdryer (not very powerful), slippers but no bathrobes. The room was serviced every day with clean towels provided. Bedrooms, public areas and pool areas are spotlessly clean. The pool area is beautiful, on two levels with an infinity pool and slide, albeit the water was very cold. Pool towels are supplied and there were always plenty of sun loungers available. Pool area waiter service for food and drinks was attentive and excellent. The breakfast buffet was outstanding, one of the best that I have experienced in Europe, serving everything you could possibly want including cooked to order eggs stations. Lovely terrace just off reception where you can enjoy food and drinks with fabulous views over the bay. There is a pebble beach at the front of the hotel (charge for sun loungers) with beach clubs within a short walk. The centre of Hvar is a short walk along a beautiful seafront promenade. Overall, a most enjoyable stay at a beautiful resort.

We stayed here for 4 nights as part of a 3 week trip around Croatia. We were lucky enough to be upgraded free of charge to a superior room with balcony/sea view as they knew it was our honeymoon which was kind and also left us a bottle of complimentary wine. The room was clean, spacious and had everything we needed and was cleaned each day and restocked with fresh towels and toiletries.
The pool area was pleasant, we never had a problem finding sunbeds but by around 10am it was full. The pool bar served delicious cocktails but some areas of the pool felt quite 'rough' to the skin as it has quite a rocky theme to it.
Breakfast was delicious and offered a huge selection of different food, with stunning views overlooking the sea (indoor seating only).
A few evenings we also stopped at the lobby bar for a cocktail on the outdoor terrace which was nice.
The location was also only a 10/15 min walk into the old town and a nice, seafront path takes you there.
Unfortunately, we felt the hotel could do with a bit of a freshen up. Many of the communal areas/corridors were 'tired' looking and didn't have the luxurious feel that we were hoping for considering the price that we paid.

The hotel is well located. More precisely opposite the sea and 10 minutes from the village on foot. The service is superb, nothing to say, the breakfast a little less so. We didn't really try the lunch/dinner but there are many very interesting restaurants in the village (with breathtaking views).
It’s quite a lively place for young people, around 8 p.m./9 p.m. you can hear the music coming from the bars and young people enjoying the clubs/evenings.
We had a room for 3 people with a not-so-great view (of a rental house opposite). However, it was quite spacious but we noticed that it was not really new. Stains on the pillows, a blocked shower, etc.
On the other hand, my parents had the sea view room. The first day they were given a room with a corner view and when we complained they changed the location of the room with a slightly clearer view. Do not hesitate to complain if the view does not suit you (especially if you had paid for a sea view).
The staff is very friendly and helpful.
Unfortunately after 3 days in the village you can start to get bored especially if you don't visit other places nearby.
The hotel does not have a “private” beach and if you want to take a deckchair you will have to pay through private companies.
Of course the beach is pebble.

The rooms are the size of a shoe box equipped with the absolute minimum. You can't even make a coffee in your room. The balcony just offers enough space to put your towel on a chair. The towels are thin as paper and have the size of a napkin.
The best part is the noise, it comes from everywhere at anytime. During the night you have drunk people strolling through the corridors and at 7 am the cleaning ladies start so you can have an early start of the day. That combined with an airco that makes as much noise as a ventilator shaft of a coal mine.
They promote the hotel to be a beach hotel but you have to pay an additional 15€ per sunbed at the beach. If you take 2 you are entitled to have one umbrella that gives you enough shade for half a sunbed. The pool is as deep as a bathtub and is too small for the amount of people in the hotel.
This hotel is overpriced, low quality and the restaurant for breakfast looks like a canteen.

Very disappointed about this place room. This is why we would never go back:

Our agency booked us a room that had a separate living area with a door, and a decent view, and when we got there the room was not what we paid for with a view of another wing and their pots of plants. They refused to upgrade us, saying they were fully booked, even though my agent could tell they had other larger rooms available on the days we were there.

Service: very poor (don't feel anyone at this hotel appreciate customers at all - in fact I felt some hate their job). They say they will double check on everything you ask, and usually they will come back with a no.

Room: very hot - they at some point sent someone in, but temperature never went down. Even though we got a newer remodeled room, the room was poorly designed (shower floods the bathroom, you can't have a full dark room as the blinds don't fully close, no good outlet placement). Hair dryer is also very cheap (the one we brought did not work in the country) and no good place to dry the hair as there is no outlet by the bathroom sink (only one over the toilet) or if you want to go by the main door with a bit of a mirror far away.

Housekeeping: while the linens appeared clean, we found a vaper under the sofa bed where my daughter was sleeping, which showed that they don't really do a very complete cleaning jobs between stays.

Few positives: breakfast was decent, bed was comfortable, complimentary luggage service from/to the ferry, location close to main harbor area.

We stayed at the Amfora for 4 nights at the end of May/beginning of June with our two teenagers, aged 14 and 17 in one of the two-bed penthouse suites on the top floor of the main building. Our accommodation was incredibly spacious with an enormous living area and outside space that had amazing views across the sea and around the coast. It was very clean and the maid service was excellent – fresh towels, bathroom supplies and afternoon treats delivered every day. The room could have done with some modernization but the beds were comfortable, we were very close to the gym, restaurant, bar and pools and we had three bathrooms for four of us, so it was all very easy. Breakfast was quite chaotic and didn’t always feel like a ‘nice’ environment, but there was plenty of choice and plenty of food. Lots of people filled up takeaway containers that they were given by staff, to take food for later. The room and bar service was really good with a great menu and good service. The main areas of the hotel were quite tired and the whole place could do with some money spending on it! There were always plenty of sun loungers to choose from, although not always easy to get enough shade. The pool felt very cold! There were lots of wedding parties going on in and around the hotel while we were there, which was nice but they were sometimes quite lively. Overall, the hotel was a good choice, as the room was brilliant and the location was ideal – a flat 10ish min walk along the prom to Hvar town, where the restaurants, jewelry stalls etc were plentiful and there was a buzzy atmosphere around the beautiful harbour overlooked by the historic fort at the top of the mountain.

After reading some reviews on here, I was nervous, but it was classic trip advisor where people either write terrible or perfect reviews.
We had a room in the north wing (rooms 4000’s) which appears to be a newer built annex. We had a family room which was spacious and notably the air conditioning was very effective. The room seemed well sound proofed, and we didn’t hear much noise at all. We had a good sleep every night. It was furnished and decorated fine and the bathroom restocked every day with shower gel etc.

The breakfast and dinner buffets were great, plenty of choice, and not rammed full of people. It’s not all inclusive so you have to pay for your drinks at dinner.

The pool was big, plenty of room for the size of the hotel and our daughter loved the slide. The hotel have an effective policy on the sunbeds. You can only reserve a sun bed with the hotel towels. You get clean pool towels everyday, and the towels only come available when the pool opens at 0900. This is great because it means everyone has a fair chance at the sunbeds. No early morning bed hogs!! In fact some days there were spare beds available throughout the day; and this was in August.

It has a swim up bar which was very popular, and staff provide a food and drink service direct to your sunbed. All the staff throughout the hotel were very friendly and helpful, from reception desk to cleaners to the buffet and around the pool (thanks Ivan).

We walked to hvar town a couple of times, and did the almost mandatory blue cave tour.

A fantastic family holiday at a great hotel.

The actual hotel is quite mediocre and probably a 2.5 star experience but what really makes me not recommend this hotel is the price. When I first arrived in my room we were not greeted with a complimentary bottle of water but instead a small table that said We had to pay 5.50 euros for a regular bottle of water and a small selection of cans of snacks that you could easily fit in your mouth priced at 5.50 euro. The food at the poolside bar was mediocre and extremely expensive and mediocre. The Splash bar by the seaside was also very expensive. I spent 40 euro on a 1 course 1 bottle of water lunch for two which was very mediocre. But the worst was still to come. Whilst we were there we had 4 days of laundry done for us by the hotel. When we came to check out they charged us €140 for this laundry. This is absolutely ridiculous and an extortionate amount of money. It is clear that they have a monopoly in the hotel business on hvar (they own seven hotels on the Island) and know that they can charge what they want. A four star hotel does not charge 140 euros for laundry.

This is a large resort well located in Hvar. Beautiful view of the sea and the islands opposite (for sea view rooms). The rooms are poorly soundproofed and you can hear the neighbors and especially other guests passing in the corridor. Average cleaning and housekeeping service: the staff knocked on the door every day (including the day of departure) to make the room at 08:30 - 09:00.
Huge breakfast offer, but of lower quality. Pleasant swimming pool. We did not try the evening buffet restaurant.
