Love it! Stayed 8 days on a business trip. This is a small, intimate resort island. SVG is where the first Pirates of the Caribbean was filmed and it is not over run yet with tourism. SVG is a friendly country that enjoys a good feta (Party). This is a proud Third World country. Do not come here if you expect a Four Seasons resort. If you do visit with that expectation, don’t leave a negative review that you weren’t treated like the colonial Queen because you failed to do your due diligence, as a few reviewers have. The staff here is friendly but they are modest and humble; not intrusive to interrupt your conversations or quiet time, which I appreciate. If you need someone constantly in at your shadow asking what more they can do for you, don’t come here. If you need something, speak up and they do their best to accommodate. If you want to feel unplugged (while still having Wi-Fi) like syncing up with diff cultures, foods, and are looking for a quite getaway, this may be right.

This resort is romantic and beautiful, the rooms are cozy & lovely, service is good, the restaurant isn’t close to a Michelin star but the food is consistently tasty, and meals on the beach in fresh, unpolluted air are beautiful.. The menu isn't as vast as some from large developed cities are used to, but this is a remote tropical island - they do very well with local options. Try all their fresh baked breads! The open concept bar on the beach is also beautiful. Almost every cottage is directly on the shoreline. Turn down service includes making your bed up, straightening up your room/bathroom, and turning on the AC unit. Our beds were comfortable, not too hard or soft. It’s outdoor showers only but they are private and the climate is consistently warm, and so invigorating.

There is often loud music from across the water on weekends. I’m a light sleeper, I wore earplugs and slept soundly every night. If you want to leave the resort and go to the mainland, it’s an easy 4 to 5 minute boat ride on a small covered ferry that runs most hours. The ferry was complementary and we tipped the driver. The water was the perfect temp for swimming-not too cold or warm. Mosquitoes are a nuisance in most warm climates so bring bug spray. If I remember correctly, it takes approx 30 minutes to get from the airport to the resort due to reduced speed limits and ferry. Carnaval is big here too if you enjoy that.

From the moment we arrived in St.Vincent and were in the taxi to Young Island we immediately fell in love with the local houses, beautiful countryside and endless sea views, not to mention the friendly people.
Pulling up to catch the complementary ferry across the water you get your first glimpse of YI and wow is all we could say.
We were met on the jetty and as our bags disappeared we were handed a welcome cocktail. The manager, Bianca even welcomes everyone too. A lovely gesture.
We were taken to our bungalow....through a gate with a small private garden, terrace with sun longers and a table and chairs, there are steps down to the sea too. Inside was a large bed, dressing table, large fridge, coffee maker and ice bucket. Adequate wardrobe with a safe. The bathroom was basic with an outside shower which was much better than I expected. There is a wall hairdryer but this was not very good. Air con and ceiling fan. Wi fi. Added bonus was all plug sockets were uk, 3 pins, so no need for any adapters.
The pool area was lovely. The bar was lovely but had no air con, the restaurant was all outside on beautiful tables and the beach was simply stunning.
There were paddle boards and kayaks for use.
The whole resort was spotless. The staff very friendly. Reception were happy to arrange a St.Vincent island tour and transfers etc.
The choices for breakfast were plentiful and you must try the breads! The choices for dinner were good but we found the food was too much and very rich, lighter salads and maybe pasta would be a good addition especially with the heat when you don't feel too hungry.
The bar had a great selection, and gave cold water bottles out when requested. The Friday cocktail evening was lovely with small local snacks with Bianca and her lovely staff hosting.
The ferry taking us back and forth to the main land was available at any time of the day and we were even treated to ride all the way around YI one night.
The bars opposite are good and full of locals. The one bar that plays loud music can be an issue as sound travels straight across. The music played till 10.30 most nights but on Friday it was on until 5.30am! Maybe ear plugs should be provided as it should not stop you enjoying this magical island.
There are just a few signs left of Storm Beryl with the new floating beach bar, new ferry and some works going on to repair steps, rooves and a few bungalows which took the brunt, but well done for everything they have achieved in a short space of time.
There were only a handful of guests staying while we were there, as the season is just starting, but we appreciated the tranquility.
The resort is quirky and personal, not 5☆ but makes you feel so relaxed. Maybe it needs updating but we wouldn't want it to loose any of its charm.
We were sad to leave and hope to return one day.

Really enjoyed our recent relaxing stay at Young Island Resort. The cottages are older but well maintained and clean; the grounds are lush with greenery - a treat especially for anyone trying to get away from winter; the food was freshly prepared, tasty and plentiful at all meals - breakfast, lunch and dinner; the staff really are amazing - absolutely everyone was friendly and helpful. The weekend evening mainland bar noise mentioned by a few reviewers might bother some people but didn't bother us.

You may only be 200 metres from St Vincent but you feel like you are in a world of your own . If you want boxy homogenised living this is not the place for you . If you want true Caribbean style and character then it is the place for you . The staff were friendly efficient and a true credit to the resort . The food is totally delicious .. I looked forward to dinner every night (first night excluded as I had no idea at that point ) even though I had no idea what would be on the menu . The beach may be on the small side but there were enough sun beds and space to have a degree of privacy . The pool has the most beautiful setting and divided into two halves by way of its design , a deeper half and a shallower which was about 4ft deep . For me the best hotel pool I have ever swum in. I know others have mentioned the loud music on Friday and Saturday from across the water … it is loud but not enough to keep us awake and did it spoil our enjoyment .. definitely not. I don’t drink alcohol but their non-alcoholic cocktail list had more than enough choices for me and the bar staff were very friendly . Would I recommend Young Island Resort … absolutely .

As I sit awaiting my flight home, I can honestly say leaving Young Island is like leaving family which leaves a longing for your return. My husband and I were able to spend 11 glorious nights on Young Island this visit and thoroughly enjoyed every moment. We stayed in cottage 9 and appreciated its close proximity to the beach, pool as well as the restaurant and bar! Listening to the waves crashing outside our cottage was a definite delight for us. The bed was so very comfortable and enjoyed each night’s sleep (and afternoon naps)! We always enjoy the experience of the outside shower! The cottage had everything we could want or need.
The food whether at breakfast, lunch or dinner was exquisite and the staff were just always so friendly - they have truly captured our hearts! We appreciated greatly the hard work of all the staff. The ladies who cleaned our room each day are all so lovely and exceptional at what they do. Hermus, Charles and Lennox all deserve a mention who busily look after transporting guests to and from Young Island and found them all to be a such a pleasure and good laugh!
Of course I cannot fail to mention the resort’s long standing General Manager Bianca Porter who always makes us feel so very welcome and goes that extra mile to ensure our stay provides all that we could need. Thank you. We certainly will ensure our return very soon!

I just returned from another amazing stay at Young Island Resort. I don’t care how many new hotels they build in St.Vincent, I will always consider Young Island Resort as my home away from home.
This is not a resort to visit if you are looking for brand new luxury, tv’s with netflix, nightlife, or pool activities. This is a place you go to when you need to unplug and RELAX. The cottages are charming and comfortable. I love the mini library. I also love the shutters that allow for cool island breeze and the sounds of nature. Falling asleep to the rain is 10/10. The outdoor shower is amazing! Who doesn’t want to bathe while looking out across turquoise water? This trip, I stayed in cottage 27 which is up quite a few steps but the view was absolutely worth it. The daily breakfast by the beach is delicious and the service is wonderful. I cannot say enough about the amazing staff we met. Everyone is quick to say hello and help out any way they can. The beach coconut bar is perfect for an afternoon drink and instagram worthy photos. If you can make the climb, head up to the top of the island for a 360 view and some tennis. The pool is always clean and cool, surrounded by beautiful trees. Writing this review is making me so sad that I am not still laying by the beach so I will end it by saying Young Island Resort is an amazing stay. Period.
Special shout out to Ms.Porter, the general manager who is a thoughtful and kind person. My cousin came by to say hello on the beach during my stay, and fell ill. She went out of her way to assist even though he was not a guest. Exceptional customer service. Kudos to Letitia at the reception desk, my favorite boatmen: Charles, Lester, David and Delroy, staff: MaryAnn, Jason, Katurah, and Donovan. There was one person whose name escapes me but my sister has dubbed him “the lizard whisperer” because he helped her get a lizard out of her cottage last summer.
Can’t wait to see you all again soon!

Hi Bianca & Crew:
It's J & E and we are safely back home after our week in paradise with you. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for making our special occasion stay with you, one that we'll remember for the rest of our life.
We were picked up at the ferry dock by King Charles and then greeted by the lovely Olinda, who offered us 2 rum punches and took us for private check in at the office.
Our week in St. Vincent & The Grenadines/Young Island Paradise then began. Manager extraordinaire Bianca Porter had booked us into Luxury Cottage #10.
If you stay here, spoil yourself and stay in this cottage!
Upon entry it looks like your King Bed is floating on the Caribbean sea which appears directly behind the headboard! You also get a separate full sized Living Room, Private patio with loungers, hammock...Soaker Lounge pool...and a Gazebo perched beside a cliff and the jungle, and overlooking the Caribbean which splashes against the cliff! The piece de resistance is the Outdoor Shower, you really feel you are showering outside in the jungle!!!
The grounds are akin to being in the Jungle and are kept immaculate. The pool is large, and the staff work hard to ensure you are happy.
Special shout outs to Lesron, Makayha, and Lateshia!
The Food is simply amazing. Patricia and Zerelda served us amazing waterfront Breakfasts featuring delicious Fish, Pancakes, Omelettes and French Toast that was set afire!
Dinners were tasty great portions, and the Filet Mignon was to die for.
Curried Chicken, Duck Breast, Grilled Steak, and Lamb kabob were all superb!
Young Island make their own breads and we sampled Banana, Coconut, Raisin, Cinnamon, White and whole wheat during our week.
The Private Young Island Beach is white sand heaven and affords great snorkeling too! Loungers, and hammocks are both present for you to employ.
To conclude, we had a 10/10 experience!
Young Island is as close to Heaven on Earth as you can get.
It's simply Paradise Found!
Treat yourself, you deserve to stay here!

A nice and peaceful visit-the journey on the boat taxi made it a beautiful start. I arrived there Saturday morning and stayed about one and a half hours. You have to make a reservation with the island for the day trips. However, they are usually fully booked. I recommend taking a boat taxi, pretty affordable. You may not get on the island boat without a reservation--so boat taxi is your option. DIRECTIONS: go to the area where Mangoz Restaurant and Bar is. You will see a small entrance between 2 buildings, with a security guard. ASK FOR KEVIN, he operates the boat taxi and is very reliable. You may have to wait 5 minutes if he is dropping someone off on Young Island. You will enjoy the island, you can snorkel too. The island bar has great drinks, but some day trippers took their own. The rum punch at the bar was quenching! The bartender was beautiful and kind and hospitable.

I just returned from a weeks stay at Young Island Resort. St. Vincent had been on my radar for more than 30 years. Young Island Resort did not disappoint! I loved everything about it. My cottage, the food, the amazing hospitality from each and every staff member, the huge pool and the beach. The beach area is on the smaller size but 100% adequate. The lush landscape is meticulously maintained and I now have a new favorite cocktail, a Tequila Sour. Next resy will be a 2 week stay!

I am really sad to write this review because I really wanted to love this hotel. However, I can honestly say it is the worst value hotel experience I have ever had.

This hotel is impossible to love for 2 reasons:

1. The bed and pillows are so uncomfortable it almost feels like they deliberately want you to have a bad nights sleep

2. The noise from the beach bars opposite the hotel is unbearable. It booms across the water until 5am. I am heavy sleeper but there is simply no way you can sleep with this going on.

Add to this the high prices, small, tired rooms and patchy service and I’m afraid I am still reeling from one of the worst hotel experiences I have ever had.

My husband’s family are Vincentian and we really wanted to tell them that we’d had a lovely time but if I had my time over, I would skip this incredible rip off and move swiftly to Bequia or Mustique for a much nicer experience. I suggest you do the same!
